Thank for this. I worked with BGE for 45 years but things have changed so much. The directional line installation is so cool. I am having this done soon in Elkton, MD. Converting a 33 year old heat pump to a natural gas furnace.
I think those men did a hell of a job. they do fine work. the hole that was in the front of the house doesn't even look like it was there. you're lucky too that was a subcontractor of National Grid. after being in the business for 10 years
I work for the gas company in NC, and I do say that's as good of work as anyone could have done. It also gives them a little more motivation when they being watched! Haha. But still cool to see it happen on video rather than being the one installing!
I would think they would at least put a gravel about a food and cold mix on top. Doing same thing but for a different company. These guys are working hard every day i can tell you that.
75 mm gas main then 32 mm service pipe coming off the top tea with 32mm coupler . Basically moles a new line in possibly for a house entry or meter move to outside. Great video this is my job in the UK, we have to were fireproof clothing tho here 😁
Does the gas company install it from the street or does the city? I'm the only house on the street with all eletric while all my neighbors have natural gas
I’m trying to by a house and there is no gas at all for that house I need to know who is responsible to do gas line and did that cost me how much ? Thanks great video
If gas is already on the block the first 100 feet to the house are free. It costed me nothing to do what you just watched. Gas was already in the street.
Its a temporary repair to allow for ground settling over a 90 day period. A contractor will follow behind and make the final restoration with proper asphalt. It would be unwise to pour hot stuff and have it sink and then have to break and repair it twice. This was an an a+ job and no fr clothing is required because at no point were they working on uncontrolled gas.
They didnt shoot it towards the main. They shot it to the curb hole. And they take a measurement and the hogs air hose so they know exactly where the hog is at all times unless it dives. Shooting it towards the house is not wise. If they by some crazy incident shoot and hit the main they are the gas company, they will fix the main. What they cant do is fix the houses foundation.
Terrible job with the Prefab set! The Regulator should never be up against the house ! After looking at it they could have swung it out and kept it lined up with the Riser! And where the hell is the plug for the end of the union on the outlet side of the prefab??? Should always have it plugged until it's ready to be piped into the house! Otherwise everything else was done nicely! And to have your grass put back nicely especially after having a Valve cut in, They did a fantastic job with the landscape portion. I'll give them that!
You shouldn't comment on a trade you know nothing about. Regulator always goes to the back which is code. The plug goes in the actual threaded 1" hole and plugs the meter bar. The union has no gas going through it until the meter is hung. Each one of these men is qualified through the federal government and tested annually. So unless landscapers spend yrs in school to become gas journeyman I would say your wrong. How about offering the men a drink and saying thank you for a job well done.
Depends on their standards. My companies O&M plan now says every newly installed or replaced service SHALL have either an excess flow valve or a curb valve.
I get the excess flow valve we put them on all new services as well but u shouldnt need a curb valve when u have the lockwing valve on the riser I know standards are different in places just seems like excess shit
Agreed. We only do curb valves when the load exceeds the capacity of our excess flow valves on 1" services. We have to put curb valves on all schools, hospitals, and churches regardless. You're right though, having both as they do here on a residential service is excessive.
For my natural gas company it depends how many devices you’re going to connect. For example if you install a stove, water heater and clothes dryer for me it’s only like $300. However if we placed the meter closer to the street then we probably wouldn’t have had to pay anything. I think they estimate how much money they’d make off you in 6 years, and that would be the maximum amount they’d spend on installation. You would have to pay the rest.
I've worked in the business for 20 years now, in Ontario Canada , and I have to say this is very professionally and a great installation!
Good too know.

Very nice.
The Tee on the main and the coupling on the service line aren’t crimped. They are electrofused. Aka melted together
O, I C

Yes they did, no problem since.

Of course.

I guess different jobs call for different applications.
We had this done just early last month but that company took literally all day.
Interesting.
What’s the cost to convert over to gas? I would really like to connect to my city gas, so I could change over to gas appliances.
The first 100 feet are free where I live. You would have to check with your local county.
Just ask, every gas co. has there own rules on cost,

Cool.
We have to wear fr clothing to here in the states.
So maint line is always located in the street?
Yes
Occasionally gas mains are located in the sidewalk depending on the age of the system.
Does the gas company install it from the street or does the city? I'm the only house on the street with all eletric while all my neighbors have natural gas
The gas company.
The extra pipe let’s the next guy who comes around know what size and type of material the service is
Ok
I know it has been 5 yrs already, but can you share what was the cost???
Free, First 100 feet in my county is free.
@@xjoe81x correct
How much does something like this cost…I’m planning on converted soon. Thanks !
Free if it's on the street.
@@xjoe81x Free if on street? Aren’t all gas lines at the street? I don’t understand :/
@@Chris-Alia if the main pipe is already ran on the street then it's free to the house.
Yes.
The sound the bullet device makes is kind of dubstep.
Should hear it in person, plus the entire ground shakes.
Does the main line feed both sides of the street?
Yes.
Ha! Mike Derucki 😅

The next house they had gas and central air , the question is for who I have to call ? Thanks
@@omarseera9960 Your gas company.
Oh ok thanks man
Yea it's free I install gas lines for a living just call your local company
How much was the installation cost?
George Montoya First 100 feet are free.
Extra piece of pipe in the box to let the gas co know it’s a pe valve
Okay.
They are using the wrong type of ashpelt legally it has to be tar ashpelt and chip stone not mixed
Okay.

That was risky shooting “the bullet” towards the gas main.....
Yes.
No that is why you have someone monitor the area so that it does not strike the main.
Never shoot a middle toward a house you are supposed to do a test hole over the main so that the middle doesn’t hit it
@@Moondoggy1941 you cannot control the hog, so we never would shoot it towards the main. We actually do not use the hog anymore anyway

They are probably landscapers doing gas work.

They need to put dust down and 21A instead of same dirt.. They need to attend NPL class for some lesson.
Guess no one way watching.
Typical. xjoe81x gets another bout of gas. I thought that guy jaykay18 had a video on this already.
What state and city?
George Montoya Sorry not giving that info out.
I think the cars (plates) driving by can help you guess.
Asplundh lahing gas pipe? Yikes glad it’s not my street

Not my street either.
Gotta be New Jersey, Brooklyn, or Queens based on the accent and the F bombs. 😅
