    Eusebio Pedroza - Is a retired boxer from Panama who held the WBA and lineal featherweight championship from 1978 to 1985. His 19 successful defenses as world featherweight champion are a record for that division. His cousin, Rafael Pedroza, was a world champion also, in the junior bantamweight division, although Rafael's reign as world champion was short-lived.

    First time i saw Eusebio Pedroza he was knocked out by Alfonso Zamora (who seemed unbeatable until he met Carlos Zarate) in a bantamweight title bout. After two consecutive kayo losses in 1976 Pedroza seemed finished. But he moved up to featherweight and had an extraordinary career. He would have given Salvador Sanchez a hard time but I'd hate to pick one over the other in that dream match.

    • @panama8009
      @panama8009 3 роки тому +2

      He was very weak as a bantaweight in those losses. He was much more comfortable in his true weight class. Taking nothing away from Zamora and Zarate, 2 excellent fighters but if they would have fought him at feather, different outcome. One of the great things about Pedroza is he always fought in enemy territory, traveling globally to fight. His losses to Zamora and Zarate was in mexico.

      And it's not only just a number but he has far better defenses compared to his rival Salvador Sanchez. Sanchez and Pedroza is one of the best example of what I always says about lineal championships not being absolute. Being the lineal champion doesn't exactly means you're the absolute best boxer in the division but was simply the man who beat the man. Sanchez perhaps beats the One but Pedroza beats Everyone.

    He was also artistically dirty. I use the term dirty loosely due to how creative he was in using some of these fowls. There are some fighters that when the get dirty you get upset watching them because it is in our nature to not approve of fouls. However, Pedroza was just so creative in how he would use them. He rarely got warned. And it was not as if he used them to turn a fight in his direction.

      Salvador Sánchez un grande ,pero nunca lo quiso enfrentar a pedroza ,incluso se hablaba de la tan esperada unificación ,pero no se dio ,sobre todo con la manera arrolladora en la que pedroza noqueo a patrick Ford!! Salvador Sánchez sufrió y se fue a decisión contra Ford ,mientras que pedroza lo fulminó en 8... No pongo en duda la gran calidad del legendario Salvador Sánchez ,pero entiendo el por que no se dio esa pelea.
      1- por que pedroza en su momento ,no era una figura tan grande y famosa como Sánchez.
      2- salvador Sánche tenia gran posibilidad de perder ante pedroza. Y no por que pedroza fuera "mejor" ,si no por que el panameño ,poseía el estilo que era la gran debilidad de Salvador Sánchez!! Sal Sánchez se veía muy mal y le costaba muchísimo ganarle a rivales que le dejaban la iniciativa a el ,que usaban mucho el contragolpe ,y se movían mucho. Pedroza poseía eso al 300% ,y realmente era un boxeador muy difícil de descifrar. Era una pelea 50-50 ,y no fue ningún campeón de papel ,te recomiendo investigues mas su récord y a sus rivales ,el era el típico boxeador ,de; "mucho riesgo y pocas recompensas".
      Si no ,Gómez o nelson lo hubieran enfrentado.
