As an American I can't believe anyone would not want to pay that small amount to support the Royal family. It is less than a cup of coffee in the USA. In fact could buy several cups of coffee for that price! I'm sure if you looked a line items in UK budget and how much certain things cost per person there would be many things people pay more for in UK that have a lot less value!
When they travel to Canada, the tour expenses are paid by the Canadian government. British tax payers are not paying for Canadian tours. Would it not be the same in Kenya as a Commonwealth country?
It’s because The King is the Head of State in Canada so it’s different than if he or other members of the Royal family travelled to a commonwealth country

The sovereign grant is always a controversial topic. We see them as good value for money especially for how much they bring in to the UK economy
