It's pretty bad when a 5 minute parody of Jem on a shoe string budget is 100 times more entertaining than the movie will end up being, I'd have rathered 90 mins of these guys doing a Jem movie than the tripe we're being served by Scooter Braun.

This video was better than anything Universal did with their trailers for Jem and since the movie had to be pulled after just two weeks it was clearly horrid. I think you guys would make a wonderful indie version of Jem. Hell I am thinking of doing a fan fiction of Jem years after the cartoon as a filler for Jem fans who were traumatized by the trailers. At least I discovered Jem as an adult and not since I was a kid.

+Todays Justus I kept wondering about that too. Looked it up and heard about the outrage and the outrage at the outrage. And that was my first time realizing that she wasn't white but biracial. Screw being pc right now. But casting someone with that ethnic-ambiguity as Shana is actually just one of the many many many sins they've committed against Jem. Ethnicity is sadly whitewashed, I hate to say it but there's no hiding it and it's not the fault of the actors cast but those doing the casting. Making them young teenagers reliant on others was another thing, taking away the things that made them strong and independent. I'm not usually the type to be 'empower our girls!' and 'Diversity!' but they actually took that away somehow and made it worse with a lesson you can get from watching Monster High or just about any child's show or made for TV movie. I need to Jem binge this weekend.

I would totally watch a Jem film made with these characters. What I think they SHOULD have done was a movie meant for adults, not children, that would have the humor and maturity that adults would enjoy, but with the Jem characters. I think everyone who had grown up watching this would go for that.

Rainy Jane I hated the movie and I’m 12 and love the jem show but the story is just horrible for the movie but I’m glad they kinda made it for kids because some kids like it but they should never have made it
They should have either set it in the eighties or done a "Brady Bunch Movie" thing where it's set in the modern day but Jem and all of the other characters from the show look and act *exactly* like they did in the eighties with absolutely no explanation.

In what was really sad was in an interview a few months back, she and her agent has been trying to come up with the idea for a Jem movie for years and they wouldn't listen to her.

Hilarious! You all did such an amazing job on this... BRAVO! And I lmao because I "got" all the inside jokes and references, i.e. Roxy not being able to read, etc. Plus the bit with Eric Raymond was super sweet. 2:37 she's actually spot on. Universal wanted to clash Bayformers, GI Joe & Jem at one point when the Jem movie was released. Failure aside, the movie wouldn't have a single bit of sense if added into the same area as Joe & Bayformers, because Jem's tone itself felt completely out of place from the others. If they wanted to share the universe, they could have stuck the REAL Synergy there & made the movie more action.
I realize I mostly end up here to argue over the movies total lack of Jem related material, but have to say again how awesome this is...I still loose it every time at the beginning 'What the 'JEM!' was that? As well I wish your Shana was the movies Shana, she's pretty much how I'd picture her in real life. The Roxy gag is priceless too.

They should've just used established artist in the roles. Katy Perry as Jem Rihanna as Shana. get some more Grammy winning artists. Make an original album with original songs written in collaboration between all the artist. Release the album along side the movie. This video was better than anything Universal did with their trailers for Jem and since the movie had to be pulled after just two weeks it was clearly horrid. I think you guys would make a wonderful indie version of Jem. Hell I am thinking of doing a fan fiction of Jem years after the cartoon as a filler for Jem fans who were traumatized by the trailers. At least I discovered Jem as an adult and not since I was a kid.

+Todays Justus I kept wondering about that too. Looked it up and heard about the outrage and the outrage at the outrage. And that was my first time realizing that she wasn't white but biracial. Screw being pc right now.
But casting someone with that ethnic-ambiguity as Shana is actually just one of the many many many sins they've committed against Jem. Ethnicity is sadly whitewashed, I hate to say it but there's no hiding it and it's not the fault of the actors cast but those doing the casting. Making them young teenagers reliant on others was another thing, taking away the things that made them strong and independent. I'm not usually the type to be 'empower our girls!' and 'Diversity!' but they actually took that away somehow and made it worse with a lesson you can get from watching Monster High or just about any child's show or made for TV movie.
I need to Jem binge this weekend.

I recently started rewatching a bunch of 80's, 90's and early 2000's animated series and Jem and the Holograms is so amazing. You guys truly captured the style perfectly.
I loved the actress who played Synergy. That was the Synergy I was expecting to see in the Jem movie!

I would totally watch a Jem film made with these characters. What I think they SHOULD have done was a movie meant for adults, not children, that would have the humor and maturity that adults would enjoy, but with the Jem characters. I think everyone who had grown up watching this would go for that.

Rainy Jane I hated the movie and I’m 12 and love the jem show but the story is just horrible for the movie but I’m glad they kinda made it for kids because some kids like it but they should never have made it
They should have either set it in the eighties or done a "Brady Bunch Movie" thing where it's set in the modern day but Jem and all of the other characters from the show look and act *exactly* like they did in the eighties with absolutely no explanation.

2:37 she's actually spot on. Universal wanted to clash Bayformers, GI Joe & Jem at one point when the Jem movie was released. Failure aside, the movie wouldn't have a single bit of sense if added into the same area as Joe & Bayformers, because Jem's tone itself felt completely out of place from the others. If they wanted to share the universe, they could have stuck the REAL Synergy there & made the movie more action.
I realize I mostly end up here to argue over the movies total lack of Jem related material, but have to say again how awesome this is...I still loose it every time at the beginning 'What the 'JEM!' was that?
As well I wish your Shana was the movies Shana, she's pretty much how I'd picture her in real life.

Just saw the Jem movie on Saved By the Bell. And the Brady Bunch. Movies can't think of anything but ripping off old TV shows?
The only difference between this film and the Saved By the Bell episode is the tv show ended up being a dream Zach had.

They should've just used established artist in the roles. Katy Perry as Jem Rihanna as Shana. get some more Grammy winning artists. Make an original album with original songs written in collaboration between all the artist. Release the album along side the movie.
