    History of San Cristóbal (El Cerrito)
    1614: The Viceroy Marqués de Guadalcázar grants Pedro Núñez Gómez a site for cattle and two caballerias of land having as boundaries: to the east the Garbancillo hacienda, to the south the La Sandía hacienda, to the west the road that goes from the town of León to the Cuerámaro hacienda, and to the north the La Zanja hacienda. This site was called Estancia de San José de la Noria.
    1734: documents of a mortgage on the Site refer for the first time to a population of jacales, which is today the hull of the hacienda and the community of San Cristóbal.
    1780: n this decade the Count of Valenciana, Antonio de Obregón y Alcocer, buys the estate from Félix Gutiérrez de la Concha and his executors are in charge of releasing the property from its debts.
    1819: uring the War of Independence, on April 23, the party of San Pedro Piedra Gorda made up of 65 men under the command of Sergeant Major Juan Flores is attacked by Los Pachones, a group of 500 men. Only Sergeant Juan Flores and 7 more royalists survived.
    1900: According to the Local Geography of Guanajuato by Pedro González, this year the Hacienda de San Cristóbal has 1,052 inhabitants.
    1915: uring the Mexican Revolution, in the fields of the San Cristóbal hacienda, as in those of the neighboring haciendas, the Villista armies confronted those of Obregón in the months of April, June and July, with the Villista retreat to the north as a result.
    That year the farm was offered for sale to Mr. José L. Fox, originally from Cincinnati, USA. When the government decreed the allocation to four ejidos of the land that used to belong to the hacienda. Only 400 ha were left to the Fox family, including the farmhouse.
    Currently, with Ex-President Vicente Fox Quesada, the hacienda has a new splendor since it has become a center for the study and dissemination of culture with the so-called Fox Center.
