It stabilized the end of the shaft and stopped the free play at the end... Basically you can make one.. Flat aluminum with the correct spaced holes. Fancy bracket you can make.
I don't understand the set screw. If the set screw is tightened how come that doesn't keep the shifter from rotating back and forth to shift into different gears?
I fail to understand the improvement here. If the two pieces of metal were welded together or were just one piece then it would hold the shifter shaft true to its axle. The way it is designed , it still allows for vertical and lateral movement. Can you please explain the objective of it. I am sure that there is an objective to this device. Thank you.
Mike, The Shifter Buddy is a support for the shifter arm or shaft. The Shifter Buddy provides a pivot point so the shifter can pivot true to its axis. It allows for vertical movement only, this is shifting up or down. Some Valkyries benefit from the support and some don't, just depends on how much slop is in your shifter shaft. Go look at your Valkyrie, is there a lot of slop both vertical and lateral ?
@@scainstevenc3648 Thank you for your reply. I now realised that the shifter arm is pivoted into the main arm does not go directly into the gearbox. The mod makes all the sense.

This takes about 5 minutes. This video does it under 2 minutes.

The shaft does not rotate, it only moves up or down.
