  • Sacred Mountain Spirits or Gaan are known as Apache Crown Dancers. This group are from the Theodore Roosevelt School in Fort Apache, Arizona.
    Performing at the Real History of the Americas event (alternative to Columbus Day) at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado.

    im surprised they allowed this to be filmed. this is sacred and my arms even tingle watching it. i feel it. so wonderful. such heritage inside the blood passed on and our ancestors.

    when i first saw this dance was with my father who is passed now in prescott and it frightened me and one came up and looked right into my eyes and danced and went on. and i remember it strong.

    I Loved seeing the Knowledgeable Elder Edgar Perry (I Cherish my time spent learning with him) I just wish he would have been mic'd up so everyone could hear him share his knowledge & Wisdom! ~ Ahé he'e

      Sadly it has been too long. I live in Southern California so proximity has a lot to do with it. My Family is all over New Mexico so I do get to attend the Puberty rites in Mescalero and the Gathering of Nations in ABQ when possible. I would love to revisit one at White Mountain or CBQ. I do have an Aunt who lives up in the Sandia Mountains, ABQ that bought a Condo in PHX to get away from the snow... so who knows?
