Nice power hammer. Very similar to the US built Nazel that I am familiar with. I like this old rusty stuff. looks like a fun resto job when you get to it. I do like the way you rig up a hoist to the forks and not just yard on it till it pops. Now that you done mucking about with that, get back on that steam tractor Norman! 😁
Morning Norm. Wow, what a hammer. You can well be “chuffed” that neither the motor nor the hammer were seized after such a long time. The motor kicked out an impressive “rust cloud”. Oh what fun is to be had in your yard. 👏👏👍😀
Glad its going to be a goer! I will let Ron know next time I see him. I reckon we should have a whip round and buy you a boilersuit for Xmas, as those jeans look like a fire hazard .......😉😆
@@julianhawker7672 😆 wouldn’t be the first time we’ve been on fire, take a lot of work to get a pair to look like that. Will have to see if he wants to come use it in anger once’s it’s finished. Cheers
I've watched a Blacksmith on here with a 3cwt Massey hammer, that flattens some metal quickly so yours is a beast ! Daniel Moss is his name. I just checked there's loads of Massey power hammer videos ! Thanks for this weeks update Brian from South Yorkshire.
@@782sirbrian Thanks Brian. You can also find lots being used in the how things are made (flip flop addition) videos that are popular on UA-cam. Massey forging Ltd is actually still trading and rebuilding these hammers. All the best Cheers
@@Randysshop Yes it’s call a self contained pneumatic hammer. The rear crank will effectively work like a compressor and inlet the air into either the top or bottom of the front cylinder. It’s a bit more complicated than that with a lot of valving and air cushions but that’s the basic principle.
We have the exact same massey clearspace at work one about half thebsize. Awesome things to use. The cable your using does look a tad small compared to whatvour spark wired up. I'll have to find a picture of the original starter to send to you
@@andythewelder6181 Nice 👍 where do you work? I’ve been on the look out for a smaller 1 piece hammer but always seem to stumble upon the biguns. Always interested to see what these hammers are doing work wise. Cheers
The old motor started nicely, probably gave the mice a bloody fright.🐁😃👍🏴
@@alasdairhamilton1574 😂 Scared them straight into the shed 👍
Great content and production. Loved the intro. Like you I was surprised about the amount of rusty dust being ejected from the motor.

Use a "megger" to test insulation integrity. It is a high voltage ohm meter used to verify the integrity of coil and motor windings.
great to see going back to working

Very interesting machine, so nothing but air moves the ram up and down? Thanks Norm
