People don’t realize but Maryland has amazing fisheries. I’ve lived here my entire life we have great freshwater fishing but the gems to me are the Chesapeake Bay and offshore. I can tow my 30’ CC from the marina on the Chesapeake to Ocean Cty in two hours and most days my 30’ with twin 225’s is more than comfortable 40+ miles offshore. From spring striped bass in the 40-50lb range on the bay to Pelagics offshore including amazing marlin fishing some years it’s awesome. And don’t forget from July through October we have the best blue crabbing in the world no boat required!

anyone have any idea on how that downrigger is set up? you can see at one point its doubled back on itself and slides back and forth on a pulley of some sort..

I saw you posted this question a while ago but I wanted to answer it for you. The thing that looks like a pulley is actually a brace rope to keep the downrigger arm faced out 90 degrees to the boat's gunwales. If you'll notice at around 11:25, the rope is connected to the downrigger arm about 1/2 way up and tied to a loop piece that's in a rod holder fore of where the downrigger is mounted. Dredges have a significant amount of drag in the water because of all the arms, baits & the 15 lb. weight in the front. Since the downrigger base swivels, that rope keeps the downrigger arm from being pulled to a position that's straight out the back of the boat. Hope that helps.
