Yeah, he was the problem. Not his individual skill. S1mple can still own, but if you watch their officials before he benched himself, you can tell he wasn't interested in being part of Aleksi's calls. He was almost always just taking aim duels and forcing hero rifle/scout trying to win the game alone.
I think it's more than just S1mple that's no longer in the roaster, no?
I don't know if I would say I expected w0nderful to be this good, but this performance didn’t surprise me at all when remembering how insanely good w0nderful looked on Spirit before he fell off hard towards the end of that tenure.
For example, at EPL S16 in a 0-2 loss to NAVI, w0nderful outplays s1mple on both maps both on and off the AWP.
He also had massive hype from his academy days, overshadowed only by m0NESY.

how do awpers get so good at holding angles, is there some micro advice for it? like as soon as you see the elbow click on the assumption they will swing and by the time you click they are in your scope or similar ideas
About the conditioning on the a hit, is there a reason they don’t usually smoke ct? Is that usually better to just flash and push off the awp?
I'm enjoying watching some of these demos, but I can tell you're a new age player, as in not from the 2015 and earlier days, because it seems like CS has been explained to you differently than it was in the past. You kept hammering in how wonderful would post on a line, but then he would always move and advance into a fight mid round instead of posting and you had to give a caveat saying he had to take a fight when things broke down. A better way to explain this, and the way CS was ALWAYS explained way back in the day was CS is a game of trade frags.
You always have to put yourself in the best position to trade a kill if your teammate dies or not die yourself. He's not always going to post on a line, he's going to position himself where he can most easily get an entry from an enemy overpeeking, trade off a teammates death, or escape if he misses his shot. It just so happens that teams always try to take map control/use utility to limit the number of angles they can be attacked from creating lots of situations for AWPers to 'post'. It's not an awpers job to 'post' on a line, but it is one of the best ways to get entries/trades while limiting chance of death. This is why he will run into sites with him teammates instead of holding an angle all round. The trade frag almost always trumps the 'position' unless it's a retake.
But CS has changed a bit. For awhile, the AWP was the go-to entry weapon and ever since the Astralis era, where utility really started to come into it's own in all levels of CS, it became a much more difficult to post on early angles and get entries with the AWP. The speed of the game increased and AWPers found it very difficult to aggressively peek everything. AWPers couldn't afford to miss shots anymore and so their style had to evolve. Now you see AWPers 'posting' in the back more often because it's their best way to stay alive and still get kills.
So to wrap things up, the role of the AWPer in these days is almost the same as any rifler. They are a trade frag role, BUT they have the potential to entry at long range and HAVE to remain in the back, because the worst thing you can do as an AWPer is die early and potentially give away the boom stick to the other team by running into sites first. 'Posting' is just a consequence of the AWPers having to play more passively as you will die quickly if you're peeking angles with the AWP that you can't retreat from. Rush peeking A doors at long on Dust 2 with an AWP is a great example of the death of old standard aggro AWP peek. It can still work, but if you miss you're guaranteed to take at least 50 or more damage standing in a moly and nade these days...

This game soon will have a pro scene and nothing else. Im deleting it today, there are no normal games left anymore. It is just against cheaters, every single game. The few times I am not playing against a cheater I still rage and think Im playing against a cheater until I review the demo
