    Another cinematic example of excellence in detailing. You are beyond being a "part-time hobbyist in the detailing world"... I rank your skills right up there with the "heavy hitters" of the detailing industry. You teach more than the students in your school. I, as a detailer learn from everything video you post.

      Thank you for the awesome comment, Ron. You always know what to say to keep me inspired and energized. I appreciate the compliment, but there's nothing I do that anyone couldn't do if they just had the time, patience and proper environment. I am proud of how my garage has evolved over the years, and it really is the superstar of my videos. Without it, I don't know where I would be.

    Hey Rick. For those among us who are of the OCD challenged, your videos are so cathartic they relieve a stress that is unseen by a lot of people. Great video and pretty awesome product line. And I also agree with other posters that manufacturers seek you out bc they know how their product will get promoted. The White Details of the North. Till the next one.

    I appreciate the reality of this video of how/what daily driver vehicles go through and look like. For people that live in the northern parts of the US and CA; snow, rain, sleet, sand, salted roads are a real thing and what your vehicle will look like after a month of driving. This gives me hope that I'm not alone in trying to keep my car looking pristine. After this, I really am looking into pre-wash foams now.

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  9 місяців тому

      Thanks for the great comment. Yes, this channel deals with the realities of being a fan of clean cars but facing monumental challenges keeping them clean. The garage allows me to put up a good fight, but in the winter it is a losing battle. If you have access to a pressure washer, I highly recommend playing with a foam cannon. I find the car is 95% clean after rinsing off the foam. It's also quite satisfying in other ways.

      That's very nice of you to say. I don't think anyone puts the time and effort into producing videos that celebrate how visually appealing the detailing process can be. It's an odd looking duck, but if I keep playing around with it, I think it could be a contender for my cannon of choice. Right now, it isn't giving me the "fan" spray pattern I need in my tight space. I had a lot of "splatter" in a few areas of the garage because the foam stream was a bit too hard. I'll get there.

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  9 місяців тому

      The washing of the car actually leaves the surface of the Swisstrax floor clean, but there is residual mud and gunk under the floor. Because the garage dries out so quickly due to our dry winter air and the humidifier I have running, that dirt is fine where it is until I get the energy to pull the floor out onto the driveway to conduct a clean. I might do that in a month or so if we continue to have these mild winter temps. I do need to hit the interior soon and I have a variety of new leather products to play with. That will be coming soon!

    You can almost hear the Audi say "Ahhhh, that's better!"
    Thank you for providing me with a much-needed Rad Garage fix. Great work, Rick, as usual, both in front of and behind the camera. The SQ5 looks amazing, especially considering the age and mileage, Canadian winters are especially hard on vehicles (I'm in Saskatchewan, so I can relate to the harsh winters). Are you considering trading the Audi in on a newer vehicle? Just curious, how do you like the CarScope Tire Dressing Brush? That looks like a neat tool; might have to pick myself up one of those.
    Wishing you and your family the Merriest of Christmases, and Best Wishes for a Happy and Prosperous New Year! May your best day in 2023 be your worst day in 2024!

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  9 місяців тому +1

      Thanks Clint. It is good to connect with people that truly understand the struggle. I think Albertans face a slightly tricker situation given we have such huge fluctuations in our temperatures, whereas from what I hear, Saskatchewan is just freezing every day of winter! LOL
      I will end up keeping this SQ5 for the long term, but there's a chance we add a second vehicle since my son is getting older and we will need another car at some point. Maybe at that point, I find a wrecked RS3 and drop the 5-cylinder into the SQ5!
      The Carscope brush is great, but the ergonomics aren't exactly amazing. It is a very small handle, but it is fun to use. I probably prefer the bigger foam applicators tbh.

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  10 місяців тому +1

      The underbelly of the sQ5 is well-protected and insulated by a series of felt panels that deaden sound but also absorb a lot of dirt. But, because they protect the components so well, I don't obsess over cleaning the undercarriage. I do get down on my hands and knees and pressure wash the lower side portions, but I will defer using my rolling pressure washer attachment until the Spring. For the components I can access through the wheel arches, I will just spray those out when I do the wheels. I don't really focus on these details in the videos because it just doesn't translate well to video.

That said, I like to demonstrate them in action so people can get a visual sense of how they work. I did find it a bit frustrating dialling in the settings on this cannon because my other cannons deliver the exact thickness of foams at the exact spray pattern I prefer. With a bit more practice, I am sure I will get it set up just the way I like. I did like the side filler, but it was also hard to set it down without it falling over.

      I have used all kinds of soaps with varying pH levels over the years, but lately this seems to be more a thing because I am seeing a lot of people complain about "clogged" ceramic coatings. Currently, my SQ5 is coated with Dr. Beasley's Nano Resin Pro and it seems to be clogged. It wasn't as absorbent as it has been in the past. I find it gets better when it is damp, but it definitely didn't win over any new fans, that's for sure. It sure can sop up a lot of water though. I don't usually care too much since I always finish with a proper window wipe down and final spray application so any streaks get dealt with.

    Hi dearest Rick, I'm Alessandro from Italy, the holidays are almost over and the video is ready, I just want to insert some songs, how should I get authorization ti easily put the music in the video on my UA-cam channel? Thank you dear, tale care, I'm waiting for your reply, hello Rick😉👍🤙

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  9 місяців тому +1

      Alessandro, you won't be able to use the music I have used because those artists have given me their personal approval and that took quite a while and lots of communication back and forth.
      My advice for you is to Google "Copyright free music" and sign up for a service that allows creators to browse through extensive libraries of copyright free music. Those services come at a cost, but that's the best advice I can offer you at this point.
      Beyond that, you will have to identify artists you like and reach out to them to seek their permission to use their music and sometimes, it isn't even up to them since they have a label that is responsible for distribution. Trust me when I say, I put a lot of time and effort into cultivating these relationships with musical artists and it isn't something that can be done in a hurry.

      @@RADGarageThanks Rick for your advice but there is some music that doesn't have copyright, now I'll see how to do it, thanks again. Hi Rick😉👍🤙

      Copyright is always a tricky subject. If you are ever in doubt, you can upload a video clip (set to unlisted) with the music to see if UA-cam flags the video. I do this sometimes as a test.

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  10 місяців тому +1

      It has been an experience. I think it took a lot of damage this summer with the smoke and ash that it suffered from. I feel like it is “clogged” and not living up to its full potential.

      @@RADGarage have you tried an acidic product like DIY Water Spot Remover or KCx Reactivation Shampoo?

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  9 місяців тому

      Yes, I gave the SQ5 a mineral bath using DIY's Water Spot Remover in the Fall. It did an okay job of unclogging the coating after it was just destroyed by ash and other fallout from a wildfire. The Dr. Beasley's Nano Resin Pro coating is a super elastomeric coating and I am learning that can lead to clogging more than the super hard coatings out there. I am going to be conducting a "rejuvenation" wash on it using a combination of KCX GSF and GS in the very near future. I will have to look into the reactivation shampoo by KCX that you mentioned. That could be another awesome option.
