I can tell this isn't just sad for us; Sean's a bit upset about it too. But I'm glad that he could recognize a good stopping point. Love you Sean, good on you for all of your shantywork!
An extra pint to the shantyman! Hurrah!
You're right Edward. It was a lot of feels. I actually recorded the intro several times, but kept deleting it because it wasn't coming out right. I'm sure you can tell that there is no script and I'm just improvising. Finally I felt like this intro was ok, but I am sad.
@@SeanDagher It would've been very easy to just keep putting out shanties, but it took real courage to decide otherwise. Putting down a series is much comparable to putting down a pet; painful, but a better end than some.
And I appreciate you being real with addressing your feelings about it. Once more, it took courage. I can't wait to see your inevitably greener pastures to come.
@@SeanDagher I'm a bit sad that it's going away. Why have you decided to stop doing this?Is there a chance it will return in some way?Thank you for the music,so glad I found you!
@@BrunoMaricFromZagreb From my understanding, he isn't stopping shanties. Just stopping the weekly show for them. It makes sense as there obviously isn't an endless supply, an I'd imagine researching a lot of the history would be quite time consuming, but never the less it is quite sad.
We spent 60 weeks on a rotten tub and here we are. Our lovely homeland. We're home boys! Captain Sean, what an adventure to sail with you. We (as your crew) enjoyed every single shanty that you've been released. These all are masterpiece. ⚓️⛵️
Get up Jack!
Let Seán sit down
Thank you for all your work
An appropriate sendoff; Fare Thee Well Sean!
This is sad news; the shanties will be missed, but I look forward to your next endeavors. I cannot thank you enough for these last 60 weeks!
You're welcome Joe. And thank YOU for the supplemental explanations. Until next time...
Sir Dagher thank you for all your work, you didn’t just make my days happier your shanties also helped me make beautiful memories connected to these shanties. Thank you so much for all you’ve done for us!
it's certainly been a blast getting a chance to learn about shanties, their history, and some naval knowledge from the absolute legend behind a lot of the shanties in Black Flag. a shame the series has come to and end but damn it'd been a beautiful journey. thank you Sean, for the work you've put in and i hope i get to see your future projects.
Thank you so much for all the shanties, Sean! Particularly the ones I had never heard before from playing the Assassin's Creed games you've contributed to. You brought much joy to myself and my friends and family who have a love for songs with the taste of the sea in them. Here's luck, as Billy Bones would have said, and I drain my glass and tip my hat to you!
As someone who grew up with a navy yard grandfather, the age of sail has always held a fascination for me (sparked by his hobby of building ships in bottles). I've always loved shanties, but it was the lore that I didn't know which I appreciated the most.
Thank you sir, and I look forward to seeing what else you bring us in the future.
Thanks for all the shantys you made and this voyage around the world with a simple work songs, others may not, but unfortunally we all have to say "leave her johnny " in some part of our life.
All i could say is Thanks for the good time you made sharing this shanties and good luck for your next Voyage.
"And so, does the destination matter? Or is it the path we take? I declare that no accomplishment has substance nearly as great as the road used to achieve it. We are not creatures of destinations. It is the journey that shapes us.” - Brandon Sanderson, The Way of Kings
Thank you for all the knowledge you have shared with us. It means a lot. I look forward to the future content.
Goodbye and Fare Thee Well, Shantyman
Thanks for all the tunes Captain Dagher, goodbye fare-thee well, for now.
Thanks for the shanty’s mr.Dagher, and goodbye fare thee well for the beautiful shanty of the week
Thank you for everything, Sean. Not that I'm going anywhere I'm sticking around for everything else! But the Shanty of the Week was certainly a staple of my weeks and I'm going to miss it dearly. I've learned to sing so many new songs because of you, so thank you from the bottom of my heart.
And there's no better way to end it than that signature put-put-pop of a Royal Enfield engine!
Thank you for being, not once but twice, the spark which lit passion for sea songs in a whole new generation.
While I appreciate your sentiment, I can't really take credit for either time. I've been along for a wild ride, though. Twice, as you say.
In a world without gold, we could've been heros
Thanks for the Shanties, Sean. It helped my family cope with this awful pandemic. My sons particularly loved being able to listen to them whenever they wanted. Hope we’ll see you again soon.
Thank you for all of these shanties, Seán. Like many others, these songs have kept me going through some pretty rough times these past 60 weeks. Goodbye, fare thee well, and good luck with whatever you do next.
Thank you for all you have done to brighten our days with your good-natured banter and wonderful singing. We are all lucky to have found your channel when we did, whether it was 60 weeks or 1 week ago. I am grateful for stumbling onto your channel and being able to follow along on this ride, and I feel proud that many of us in this comment section feel the way I do.
I don't think there are words to express just how much we wish the best for you, so take care and we look forward to seeing your next creative endeavors. ⚓
Thanks Kelly. That's a nice message. I really appreciate everyone's support. Until next time...
Thanks for all of the delightful shanties, they've brought our family a lot of joy and fun over the last year!
Thank you for all the hard work, wonderful knowledge, and beautiful music. Did the weekly tradition of listening to it on lunch break for the last time
We love you and look forward to seeing and hearing more of your work!
Goodbye for now!
Havent watched a shanty of the week in a couple months due to a new youtube account losing you from my feed... remembered them last night and got scared you'd stopped doing them because I wasnt seeing them on my feed so I go to your account. And see this posted an hour ago. Its like god gave me foresight that only activates when something sad is about to happen :(
Ever since the first shanti of the week the views are very underwhelming. Your work in the shanty of the week should be a national treasure! To put it shortly, thank you very much for making this covid shit a lot more easier♥️ Good luck in whatever you’re doing next and fare thee well💔
The shanty of the week was the only thing in UA-cam that I was waiting for weekly.
I salute for the end of the shanty of the week and for good health to Sean
At first I was sad that my favorite "show" on youtube was ending, but then I looked at the number and good god, 60 weeks of shanty of the week! It's like reaching the top of the mountain and looking back at what you just climbed. It never looks high when you're looking towards the sky it seems. Mr. Dagher, this has been some of the best 60 odd weeks of my life, and I'm happy it's come to such a great end. I look forward to what else you decide to do from here on out. Until then,
Fare Thee Well
Thanks Astrotrek. It certainly does feel like a mountain was climbed. I'm really glad to hear that you enjoyed the show. I certainly enjoyed making it.
Safe and sound at home again, let the waters roar, Seán, long we've tossed on the rolling main, now we're safe ashore, Seán...thank you for this highly educational and entertaining series, it was both a joy and a pleasure to listen to (and read off guy's comments). Have a good ride!
Thanks Fox. I'm glad you've enjoyed the whole experience. I certainly have. Until next time...
Another awesome shanty. Thank you Sean!
This felt prophetic. I've been driving since 3AM, and stopped for breakfast at wendys' and pull out my phone to find this song. Still have another 400 miles to go before I get home, and I'll be singing this most of the way I'm sure.
It’s been a great time singing these with you. Your shanties always bring me back to blasting ships in the Jackdaw.
You will always be a highlight of my crew.
From your Captain, Prince Apollo
Thank you for encouraging us to join you on this journey! There are so many wonderful and heartbreaking shanties that I wouodn't have known about if it weren't for you! Fare the well!
These weekly shanties have been so great! Gonna miss them
Sad to see the weekly shanty go away but proud of you for moving forward and not letting your past dictate your future. Thanks for the many hours of listening and learning!
Much I would like to say to you Sean, bit to cut it short and not write a couple of paragraphs I'll cut ot short (we all know how much you hate when someone starts rambling on). Thank you for giving me and many others more joy with your singing during these times, I spent the better part of this year singing shanties and have had good fun listening to them, learning them, and most importantly being part of this journey. It wouldn't had been the same without you Sean, without your mustache and rambles every week this year would have been much worse.
But I'll stop myself here, (when I said I wouldn't ramble, I kinda lied a bit, sorry). It was a pleasure taking part in your singing and engaging with you in the comments, me and my mom will watch your future plans with great interest .
So, from Mexico, me and my mother say our goodbyes to the shanty of the week!
CHEERS TO YOU SEAN!
Thank you so much for the series, they're fantastic. Goodbye, fare thee well!
Thank you for all the wonderful shanties and stories, Sean
I wish you fair weather in all your upcoming adventures and hope you'll bring us along for some of them!
It has been a pleasure to learn shanties from you weekly. May the wind be ever in your sails in your endeavors. Spirits raised to you good sir.
Thank you, to hear all these great songs from one of the most iconic voices in the genre is an honor and a privilege.
Can’t thank you enough for this incredible project, it’s been amazing to follow along and learn some new shanties to share! Excited to see whatever you get up to next, on here or otherwise.
It has been a one of a kind adventure. You have helped me get through the pandemic with a sane mind. When I found this channel I was glad to see the person who introduced me to shanties (AC4). Thank you for bringing joy to me and everyone. I will definitely miss this series.
Свободно песня льётся из глубины души👍
Очень приятно слушать хорошее исполнение хорошей песни.
Never know you will miss something until its gone. Awesome journey and history lessons you provided. Appreciate all the effort you put into these awesome videos
My daughter and i have tuned in every week, sang along, and she keeps singing all the time. Thank you for the journey, and i hope the future is just as good.
I love hearing about people singing, especially with their children/families. You're welcome and until next time...
Sean, it’s been an absolute joy to listen to your voice. Me and my Son have loved singing along with you
Thank you for all the shanties, and all the fun too!
You've done such a wonderful job with all of these, the presentations and slide notes were fascinating and of course your voice brings the songs to life. Thanks, Sean!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all those shanties! I sing them often to lift up my spirit during work, and they work like a charm!
Very sad news! I shall miss the shanties. But I'm also quite excited to see what is next for you and this channel.
Well, we knew this day was coming, but it's still a blow when it comes. Thanks, Sean, for all the wonderful songs. You've given us more than a year's worth of shanties, and that's a great gift. I missed some of your earlier episodes, so I still have a few shanties to discover. Tuesdays won't be the same, but we'll manage somehow. All the best to you and your family, and we hope you'll keep us informed of any future shanty-related projects. One last pint of grog for all hands! Fair winds and following seas, my friend.
Sad to see them go, but I'll look forward to whatever comes next! These shanties help me get through work all the time! Time to listen to every shanty of the week in order
I've been following this series for so long... This makes me sad but I'm really glad you're not going to completely stop youtube. Keep up the good work! But don't forget to rest
We’ll miss what my boys and I have come to refer to as Shan-Tuesday, but an excellent shanty to end it on. Many, many thanks and looking forward to what the future holds!
While I am of course sad that the Shanty of the Week has finished, they do say that all good things must come to an end, so I thank you Sean for all you’ve done! Whenever my day isn’t going so well, I know that a Sean Dagher video will always cheer me up. I kid you not, listening to you singing Rio Grande (my all time favourite shanty) has pretty much become a part of my daily routine whether it be listening to it while working, on the bus or just chilling. I also don’t believe it’s a coincidence that the previous video you uploaded was Fare Thee Well, nice touch! I look forward for what is to come next and remain excited as ever. By the way, has your quest for a console to play AC Black Flag proved successful? Just wondering but whatever happens I’ll be here to support you, goodbye fare thee well Sean!
Hi Ben. I'm very glad to hear that you've enjoyed the music and that it has been good for you. I've had Rio Grande stuck in my head for the last couple of days, too. The JST upload of Fare Thee Well was complete coincidence, but if I'd thought of it I would have planned it that way. I keep forgetting to play Black Flag. Maybe I'll make a video about that. Thanks for your support and until next time. Seán.
Thanks for all the great songs Sean! I've loved listening to all the shanties and I sing em every morning on my way to class
As bittersweet as it is, you’ve shown us a great time, and we look forward to supporting you in whatever lays ahead!
I'm was watching with a smile on my face and a tear in my eye. Had a feeling the series would end soonish, but this still came as a surprise. Thank you so much for all you have done Seán! You have opened a window for me to a world I always had an interest in but never got around looking into it deeper. You made it so easy to approach and I learned much from watching you, things that will stay with me. Thanks, and all the best for your feature endeavours. Here's to you!
Thank you for your wonderful songs Sean! You have brought a smile and joy to my life every time I listen to you. Thank you.
It’s sad to see this is the last shanty of the week, but thank you for the awesome shanties and times. It was awesome being able to learn new things and hear awesome music at the same time.
After being here from the start, thank you so much for the library of shanty’s and introducing me to so many songs. I never watched your content for the songs but for your personality and I will continue to do so! Thank you Sean!
We will miss you Sean!!!!
Thank you for the wonderful library of sea shanty renditions ala Seàn Dagher. I shall keep my ears attuned for future songs for the capstan, to tend sail, and for general merriment and mischievousness. Merci infiniment.
I remember listening to the first few shanties of the week during quarantine on walks and they always helped clear my head. I can't believe it's been 60 weeks already and I wish you the best of luck with your future projects!
a pint to the lads! a pint to the shantyman! Give the Good lass a kiss and a smile for the crew! it has been a trip Sean, thank you! O7!
While our Shantyman journey may be ending, I'm excited for whatever new journey we shall all go on!!!!!!!
Thank you sir, the grandbabies and I are going to miss learning a new shanty each week.
Thank you sir. I feel I must add my voice to the throng, and convey my deepest appreciation for what you have done. We all would never have learned the history or appreciation of shanties as we have, if it weren’t for you. I look forward to all of the other songs you will share with us in the future, and one last time, thank you so much for these grand songs. Cheers mate.
Thank you for the shanties, Sean-I have been here for all of them! A lot has occured since the first week with the pandemic and my cat's death last month, but your songs were always something I could look forward to.
I'm sorry to hear about your cat. I'm glad the music has been a positive for you through all of this.
All good things must come to an end...sadly, so should this. Thank you for bringing a spark to our week. Every Tuesday, I would be very excited, waiting for SoTW.
I also adore how you wore the rubber bands for the last one.
We had a good run Sean, thank you for everything ❤️ Assassins creed brought me here and I've always loved your shanties. I'm gonna miss them. A lot, but thank you for all you've done
These have been a delight to listen to and so much fun. I've loved the facts you included and the history behind songs.
Woo! Ya got to 60! Thank you for so many of these songs, I've still got a few albums to get on the Bandcamp but I'll get 'em all eventually. Thanks again for this series, it has given me a ton of songs to sing and I'll probably keep singing them. If this virus mess ever clears up I would love to see if you could get a lot of us together to do a shanty sing-along (or what ever it would be called). I look forward to seeing what other videos and music you'll be posting so I hope to see you again soon.
Ooh it would be great to have a singalong. I'm Definitely going to be touring so I hope I'll end up near wherever you are.
Thank you for 60 amazing weeks of music and knowledge. I‘ll raise a dram of whisky to your music, as i almost do every week for years now. The La Nef record is my go to relax drinking music. Slàinte!
This was the best ❤️ thank you for all the shanties
So sad to see the series go, but its been so much fun watching it! I love the songs and the educational bits! I hope you have fun on your next project, and I'm sure you'll do well!
Been away from Internet for a while and just saw this.
Actually I'm sad for the series to end they were amazing and an every week routine but I'm also happy that you could start and end this the way you want and the way you thing is the best to do so, we all trust the captain, don't we?
But I need to say a huge thank you to you sir for the recreation of these brilliant brilliant brilliant shanties and beautiful memories for thousands of us. Just noticed the are on Spotify too I was thrilled and added them all to my playlists.
You made such an important impression on me, I live in Iran and your voice in Assassin's creed game made me fall in love with shanties and their culture and also the experience. I can never express this with words what you shaped in me is way bigger. You are truly a legend to me
Stay blessed, happy, free and safe 💙
Hi Pouya, thanks for your kind words. You are most welcome and I'm glad you enjoy the music. There is more to come, it just won't be as regular.
I'm sorry that I'm a bit too late to request Woodpile, but I'm thankful for the dozens of these that you've already done.
Thank you so much, Sean. These are wonderful to hear.
If I said I didn't tear and choke up, I'd be a liar. Sean you made this last year and some just that much brighter for all of us. I hope whatever's causing this end means good things for you, and if not, I hope you make it through to calmer waters safe and soon. Thank you for this ♥
You're welcome and thanks for your concern, Twytchy. I've got lots of projects on the go. I'll be posting about them. I appreciate the support!
What a pleasure it's been coming along on this journey with you~ Thank you for the beautiful collection of shanties and yhe hisyoty that comes with them~
A great journey came to an end, i'd say. You did such a grand and wonderful job, full of life and passion! I hope You've backed up all this digital legacy in case youtube will go down someday!
And I hope to hear more from You here at this channel. Life goes on!
I have all of the videos on a drive as well. I'm glad you enjoyed the journey.
What a wonderful voyage. Thank you so much Sean. You have helped me through this year so much and inspired a lifelong love for this music. Can't wait to see what is next!
Thanks, Sean. I've really enjoyed the songs and the explanations and I appreciate all the effort you've put towards this series. If this is a move away from the isolation of pandemics, it pairs nicely with The Longest Johns' recent "Hard Times" release. Here's hoping we can all start to mingle again soon.
I want to give you a metric ton of thanks Sean!!! This has been an amazing series that I've look forward to tune into every week, it's introduced me to new shanties and new versions of old shanties that I will be singing for the rest of my life. I'll miss it very much.
Ps; looking forward to more collabs with The Longest Johns wink wink nudge nudge
I'll miss these Sean but I'll always treasure finding you channel and recognizing your voice from my favourite AC game. I'll always remain a fan and support any content you release
Sad to see it end but, my what a fun journey it's been. Loved that shanty hadn't heard it before.
Thank you Sean! So much! I'm going to use these as resources to pass the shanties on to others! Long may they last, and best and ultimate wishes!
This was fun! Thanks, Sean! Such a good shanty to end the Shanty of the week.
Damn, the best shanty series ending with one of my faves. I think I'm not the only one who you've helped through this whole mess right now, so thank you very much for creating this masterful collection of shanties. I'm really excited to see what's next and tip my hat to you. Greetings over the pond from Germany!
This series has inspired me so much creatively and I wanted to say thank you for introducing me to so many new shanties to sing!
Sad to see the shanty of the week disappear, guess I have to go watch the first ones that came out before I found this channel. Thanks for the songs and I wish you smooth seas and many safe voyages!
This was a long and fun journey. Thank you for all the singing and explaining.
I am saddened to hear that this series is coming to an end. I have greatly enjoyed these videos and listening to a new shanty each week. I wish you the best in your future projects and I hope they are as amazing as this one has been.
I’ve greatly enjoyed all of your videos over the past ~year, it’s always been a great bit of fun and joy in my week. 🙂 Great music and some fun info to boot. Cheers and thank you!
Thank you for showing me some awesome music. I'm going to miss hearing you sing sea shanty music. Before you I didn't know there was this many songs in sea shanties.
Thank you for sharing all those beautiful shanties. Some really unknown to me and all of them marvelous. I really always looked forward for a new Tuesday to see, what the next Shanty of the week would be. Really sad, that it's over now. All the best to you!!
Thanks for all of these Sean. They have been a real pleasure to listen to, often multiple times. You're a fantastic arranger, and I really loved the harmonies.
Thank you for over a year of weekly videos! Look forward to the other things that will be on the channel.
Thanks for the great shanties over the past year Seán, it gave us all something to look forward to each week! Even though this series has ended, I'm eagerly awaiting to see what you'll do next. Keep on singing, shantyman!
Thank you for the library of shanties. As for most of us- Assassin’s Creed really sparked it- but this was something more special, we get to be part of the crew of the very Shantymen who shaped that experience. No matter the trends or origins- these songs helped us through the world and work. Hope future collabs and shanties go well- and someday, we will sign up for another tour and sings these songs again with you!
I can't tell you how many times I've muddled through a day with a drill in my hand or a leaf-blower on my back while singing these shanties in my head.
The shanties are amazing on different levels
