  • A beautiful day spent with my macaws in the sun like a true crazy parrot man!
Zoom the blue throat macaw shows off his acrobatic skills! While Arora the scarlet macaw is her usual adorable self with her sister Sofia the military macaw causing trouble!!
Carlos my green Wong macaw shows off his beauty along with the rest during their shower!
Free flight is not for everyone but the joy I receive in training and seeing my birds free fly is so worth it for me!

What a great video! I saw a link to it from Mikey & Mia's.
Oh. My. Gosh I want to move to England * S O B A D * so my B&G and Greenwing can go flying with you all!! That looks like a blast! Of course I'd have to train them to come back first - LOL. I've never experimented with teaching them to free fly but would love to do it.
I sure hope you don't have ticks there or anything in the grass that could hurt your fids. One time I was giving my two a bath and as the feathers got wet on my B&G, I could see that there was a tick that had latched onto his head! I had to get tweezers and pluck it out, which was very difficult because they really lock onto the skin, and with it being so thin on macaws, I really had to be very careful not to tear it. I had to wrap him in a towel and have my mom help me, but fortunately he didn't fight me any and seemed to know we were just trying to help him. My B&G used to like to walk around in the grass, and that's obviously how he got it. If anyone reading this has birds and lives in an area with ticks, I would *strongly strongly* recommend not letting them do it because of the possibility of getting Lyme Disease. I presume birds can get it too, and if they did, it's doubtful we'd know, and believe me that's one disease you definitely never want to get!
Anyway, if I maybe wanted to think about doing some free-flight training, what would you suggest? And BTW, I've tried putting harnesses on both of mine and neither one would stand for it! And as soon as their beaks found the clasp/latch, it was instantly destroyed. So much for the harness idea. My B&G also likes to destroy new Mercedes Benz car seats too - LOL. At least that was the story I heard before I ended up rescuing him from a really bad situation.

Nice that you would like to fly them! It’s a great lifestyle for birds and people just not for everyone.
Ticks are always going to be a problem with all animals and humans we just have to be very aware.
I advise doing as much research as possible and getting some professional advice.
      Keep safe

Love seeing your beautiful birds and the patience and respect you give them. Can I ask what the reactive of the native birds is when your birds are flying. Do other species see yours as predators and do they run the risk of being mobbed?

    • @craigscrazyflock3810

Amy has telemetry on her birds when they fly. Have you considered that or is their training enough? I realize the species are very different and have different flying habits.
