The plate you thought was Limoge, WAS Limoge. Limoge has a very interesting history which you should read up on. It's different than any other china. Basically Limoge made the blank pieces and they were decorated by other companies and artists, and some were actually painted as hobby pieces by wealthy Victorian women. The plate could easily have been worth quite a bit, or not much, but the Havilland pieces are definitely worth taking a shot on, since they were almost certainly part of a pattern. The hobby pieces generally are valued by the individual beauty of the pieces.
wishonbish I was just in that store this past Saturday and it looked like it’s knob on the lid was replaced with a marble. It looked out of place. I almost bought it too.
The green lided bowl was great, but too bad chipped! That's Mama's potato salad bowl! I've never seen the lid before. And, you're right about a bird making everything better! I gave my grandmother a mobile with hand carved/painted birds when I was in college (30 years ago, gasp). She passed, and I am still heartbroken! The mobile thread had dry rotted, so I just had the birds. Now, there is one of her birds in every floral arrangement in my home. I love them, and I smile everytime they catch my eye!
People buy uranium glass even with chips. That is different then cracks. I am one of those people who will get uranium glass with chips, it just shows it's age. Next time go for it!
That dollhouse reminds me of something my dad would've brought home, saying, "I found this dollhouse kit, you can try putting it together," which greatly improved my crafting skills as a kid. Often making it is more fun than playing with it.
Jogafur Kelly at the Salvation Army just sitting on the floor. My first thought was thats really nice. I used to live in Clearwater and Tampa as a kid. I remember seeing the Hignway men set up on the sides of the road as a kid. I didn't trace it though, for over a year it hung on my wall then I finally traced the name. Ive got three nice pieces just using my eye. Im in North Carolina.
Here’s the thing about brass. I’m a brass lover. I love all the brass things! My Father in Law has over 300 hundred pieces. Resellers are buying it all right now, but are having a hard time selling it because they have to ask so much. Me, as a collector am not willing to spend 20 dollars on a piece unless it’s something really amazing. I know that everyone keeps telling you to buy the brass, but I really don’t think the average person is going to pay 20+ for a little brass figure. Just my thought. Don’t let people push you into picking it up. Go with your instinct, because it always leads you in the right direction.
Why do I have to ask my Goodwill to wrap the fragile glass and ceramics every time I go? The prices are so high, they could wrap in gold leaf paper and still make huge profits!! And they kind of act pissed if you ask too! C'mon Madison, WI stores. Train your cashiers!!
That lamp with the flowers and painting utensils is based on the artwork of Marjolein Basin....shes a dutch nature artist and you used to be able to find a lot of items with her paintings on them...greeting cards, dishware, fabric etc.....her work is beautiful!! ......:-D
Is it me the only person it’s getting dizzy from your new cámara? Your movements seems very sharp when filming, could you possibly slow it down a little? I love your videos!
I'm sure you already found out, but Marjolein Bastin is an artist who designs a lot of things, including having a line of cards with Hallmark for years. Her work is all nature-oriented with butterflies, flowers, and birds, and is very pretty. That is a lovely lamp.
Fantastic find with the Homer Laughlin plates! Wood doll house kits can sell for pretty good money. It varies according to maker and style of house. That one was nice because it was small so would be easier to ship.
Jocelyn, are you going to keep the bird fabric or resell it? You say you are not crafty, so if you bought it for yourself, I'm offering to sew you throw pillows with it. I know that's kind of out of left field, but I have learned so much from your videos over the past year and would like to help YOU for once.
The picture with the Bible was done with Liquid Embroidery. It was a pain in the a$$ to do! lol The liquid was in paint tubes, but it never came out well...hence the scratchy lines that look like pencil crayon scribbles.
The ones I painted in the 70's were called Trikem I think? Or Trichem? I loved making them as a young teen. They still make these tubes under another name.
Pop corn cart is perfect for the shop. Nothing smells as wonderful as fresh pooped 🍿.....we cave a popcorn cart we use on Halloween every year. We hand out fresh popped popcorn and have for the past 15 years. Everyone gets a bag, parents love it because they can snack on the trick or treat trail 😊
I am SO jealous of those plates, etc.! I am wanting to do my kitchen in blues and whites...especially old blues and whites! Here in Topeka, KS we never get the amazing items you do in PA.
Your narration is just how I think when I’m walking through value world. I always look thru the pictures. I once found a pair of Amos Sangster watercolors in original frames for 1.21 each that sold for 200.00. The thrill of the hunt!
As a nurse the traveling comunion set could be used for a priest to use in a nursing home or hospital to give patients last rites. Good find. Wonder how it wound up in goodwill.
Why is it you see the most perfect shape huge vase that would make a perfect Upcycled lamp base when you thousands of miles away in the U.K. there is so many things I would have liked to bring home including the crystal candle sticks lol oh for goodwill stores like yours here
I’m hoping you bring us along the booth set up and design and decorating. I have a booth and it is seriously the hardest thing I had ever done. I love seeing the thought process of others booths. 👍🏾
I love your videos.. Thank you for all you do. For future reference, when you were picking up the red transferware plates, I saw what appeared to be Herend plates on the shelf below in the Raspberry Chinese Bouquet design. Those are pricey when new and I imagine you could fetch good money with those.
I thought the lamp was unusual very pretty.i like it when dagny is with you sorry if ive spelt her name wrong.she seems very informative about things also and good company .
The priests would carry that communion box with the bottle for oil to give "Last Rights" or for someone who was sick. That is a great find. Love that artist lamp.
Im thinking the popcorn machine for the shop whenever you open it... sell them popcorn on their way out ( not while shopping so they don’t leave butter prints on everything lol) or a free bag of popcorn if they buy over $x amount ! 🍿🍿🍿
You do have a super power! Our goodwill stores seem to be more careful with what they put out. Do you really find this much every time? You make it look so easy. Thanks for letting us ride along.
Your Goodwill has better prices than mine does. I'm an artist and one day I found a art piece that had a great mat and frame, cheaper than if I had purchased just those pieces. The painting, I believe was w/c. I walked away but thought about it all day and night and went back the next day, it was still there. I purchased it, did some research and found that it was worth $500.00. My ex stole it from me.
My favorite are the stores that have fill-a-bag for a dollar or two. Got some crystal goblets, designer purse and new shoes for 2.00. Sold the goblets for 30.00 and kept the rest👍
be great if you also sold or gave out popcorn to customers at your new walk in store when its open for business..be a added treat for customers!! trivia info: sam walton ,in his first 5 and dime store he began , he lured in customers by having a popcorn machine outside the front door on sidewalk ,selling popcorn, the aroma was very enticing , he said in the beginning he made more money on selling popcorn then he did in his store..but you see where it all led to !!!!
Have two xmas trees my mom made as my aunt owned a ceramic shop in Baycliff Texas. She was a very gifted artist. She made dolls and their outfits put these today to shame. Never studied she was just gifted.
Brass was big when I got married in 1980 - we received at least 6 sets of brass candlesticks, some brass bookends and 4 brass lamps (yes, 4!) as wedding gifts! Brass was everywhere you looked, very trendy but I don't miss it. Please don't bring brass back! :D
Omg!! I was there this past Saturday 9/26 and picked up those vintage looking rabbit and Santa lanterns. I’m gonna be pissed if they’re worth a lot and I left them there!!! I came home with a basket full of stuff there including very expensive cutting board, a box of salt n pepper shakers a Roseville pitcher and some more!! We also picked up the green canister but if you looked closer the knob on top looked like it was a marble glued to it. We didn’t even notice the chip but that topper made me put it back!! Also picked up those pretty cups that said Cherry on the bottoms. They were pretty and unique. So cool!!! What day did you go?
Marjolein Bastin is a Dutch artist that has been designing all kinds of art pieces for decades. She is weelknown in the US for her cards and other designs for Hallmark. Her stuff is not cheap at Hallmark,so that lamp is a really good price.
After watching your videos today, it felt like I got seasick. The camera was jumping all around and you were turning really quickly. It was really hard to watch today.
Get Juliette a Hotpop...make it in microwave without added oil we put Orville redenbackers oil on after and season salt. Yum. Ordered thru Amazon. Enjoy
I have that popcorn machine . It’s awesome . I bought little bags and they have packets with the oil and popcorn . I also got these flavor things you sprinkle on ........
02:35 I like Old Britain Castle, but yeah, probably not worth it for just two plates. 03:16 Such acrylic. Very primary colours. 04:08 Homer Laughlin Pokémon! (And that is one killer of a cross-stitch piece.) 11:12 [expletive deleted]! That's an early Robert Montoya! He's a member of the Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo, part of the larger Tewa group. He used to be an architect, but since retirement is exclusively an artist. His tribal name, the one he signs his art with, means "Fog Mountain." 13:26 But if everybody had their rights, that would have been a Fabergé egg. It's a gorgeous candle, and I woulda bought it. 13:38 Painted by someone who was infected with Grandma Moses. 14:27 And right next to it was a set of milk-glass bowls that went with a Sunbeam Model 7 Mixmaster. Dates between 1941 and 1948. 16:00 Oh, d**n! That's 1930s all day long and twice on Tuesday. I personally would have been tempted, chip or no chip. 16:40 That fabric would work up into a really groovy fall-themed tablecloth.
My biggest Goodwill score was artwork by a Native American painter in traditional style. It was a gallery piece, labels on the back; listed price was $285.00. I got it for $8.75.
Those Christmas trees up here in Canada sell for 75-100! I haven’t been able to find a white one myself but they are on so many wish lists of people I know
You got a good buy with that Tulip lamp by Marjolyn Bastien! Originally sold in Hallmark stores for about $45. I got mine for Hallmark’s clearance price of $20. Now they sell in thrift stores for about $15. And yours looked perfect! They are usually broken somewhere when you find one. Good buy!
If I read the name correctly the flower/ artist lamp is done by the Hallmark Nature Sketch artist. Her items do sell but maybe not the profit you would like.
Those blue and white dishes are gorgeous! So glad you bought them.
i think sometimes people just clean out a deceased relatives house and just throw stuff to the goodwill not even checking the value of things .
Not here by any standard. Goodwill has only worn out lice and crab infested clothes and stuffed animals.
People don't realize what Aunt June has in her house.
True, I've found a lot of real pearls and Waterford Crystal that way.
Also there's not an interest in collecting and keeping anything long term anymore. Value may not be considered when you just "don't want a lot of stuff." The minimalism trend is in full swing right now.

I enjoy your buying trips even more when you're with Dagney, I like her and her sense of humor!
That uranium glass refrigerator dish is still pretty valuable even with a chip. Hard to find those with a lid.
I would have bought it, chipped and all

I found a Harold Newton painting for 20.00. It appraised between 9,000 and 10,000. Three of his pieces just sold for 90,000. Score.
Oh my God, where did you find a Newton painting? I live in Ft Pierce Florida home of the Highwaymen artists!

Sometimes when I go they say they're out of paper. Usually I've bought something soft to wrap it in so I just carry it carefully.

Just to say. A lot of mug lovers like myself like buying 1 unique mug. Sets are not a big deal. Matter of fact I scroll past the sets.
I buy 1 mug all of the time because I’m the only one who uses them in my family.
I like my mugs to be different so I'm ok with one mug especially vintage.
