But it's kind of hard when you're not around any koreans to correct you or you to consistently speak korean I'm always around people who speak english so its difficult but I'm willing to pursue it
@@christinalee3047 There is an app for language learners called HelloTalk; we can speak with native speakers of our target language(s), that can be very useful to practice
@@christinalee3047 Hyunwoo also made a video a few years back, telling a way to practice even if you don't have anyone to practice with is to write down in a journal about anything, but daily. And I like this method :) (I'm also using the app Tandem, basically giving you penpals)
I like the example of ‘I am an alien 👽’ It makes learning Korean more fun as the example is unusual!!👍 A lot of my foreign friends also ask me about the word order too! I think this video will help them a lot!
I’m fascinated by your decision to put sentence order and particles at the beginning of the learning process. I think it’s a great idea and I’m curious to see how this works out. When I first watched Korean dramas, it was the -니까, 는데, and 고요 conjugations I noticed the most.... and actually most stuff is in 반말, not 존댓말. Obviously, we learn some polite/formal stuff like stuff like 안녕하세요, 감사합니다 but we also learn just 미안해, 고마워, 죽을래!?
Same! I got frustrated that I couldn't recognize a certain language pattern while watching Extraordinary Attorney Woo (I didn't know that there were formal and non-formal speech patterns at the time), so I started learning, and now I'm planning to go to Korea and study intensively haha. That moment when you realize a kdrama literally changed your life
this is really helpful! i am self-studying the Korean grammar and i was kind of confused when i was reading my book but with your explanation i finally understood it.
i've been studying for about 6 months, but this is something i've been struggling with still, so i'm grateful for this video! sometimes it's easier to see it laid out and have it explained rather than simply reading it. thank you ttmik!
I’ve never been more thankful for the most basic grammar videos like this one. I haven’t reviewed anything regarding Korean for months, but this actually made more sense than before. Only thing I still struggle with is adverb placement bc I have read that adverbs can be put in different spots aside from right before the verb itself. Definitely need to review the basics more often thought
he’s not trying to say that pronunciation isn’t important, he’s saying it’s not the point of the video. the point of the video is for people with zero korean experience to get a grasp on the basic structure of korean
jace t and im not saying that. I’m simply saying that to me knowing how to pronounce the words is important, I know zero Korean. To me pronunciation/ writing is equally important. Everyone has their own way of learning. That’s how I learned my English.....
Glad to have found this channel. I was listening to your podcasts on Spotify then found that all the records were later removed/restructured and was actually kind of of sad cuz I was lost as to what lesson i was on. and i really liked the way you were teaching the beginners in them. Now that I found this channel maybe I can continue with learning from you all!! Love this!!
This video is PERFECT for explaining the basic sentence structure. Simple & easy to understand by explaining what everything represents and even translating it literally in English so we can see where the differences are. Thank you so much!
Ive been learning korean for 3 days and korean changed my life. Im not being dramatic but it did. Korean is such an amazing language. I hope I can visit South Korea and maybe start learning Japanese as well.
Clicked on the video for fun, but it was such a nice surprise how similar Korean grammar is to my native language(Urdu). When I'm learning languages like Chinese or French, it takes my brain quite some time to properly comprehend the grammar and vocab, whereas everything said in this video clicked with me so much quicker. I might seriously start learning Korean now!
Sometimes UA-cam really is a wizard. I was literally thinking hmm i know some basic Korean and vocabulary but I’m not able to make proper sentences and figure out tenses... This video is so helpful and clear.. Gomawoyo Hyunoo nim
I really appreciate the way your videos are made recently. I have been following TTMIK since 2009. Though I really started a truly systematic study a couple of years ago TTMIK is all I ever had. I really "get it" now with the way you make your videos and the catchy songs that go along with the breakdown of Korean sentence structure. I am thoroughly benefitting from the way TTMIK teaches these days. Keep up the good work because it certainly is working.
As a new learner myself I am either in the books or listening to TTMIK podcasts up to 8 hours a day right now. Fortunately I can work and listen at the same time (thanks to AirPods!!) and even though I’ve only been learning Korean for a month the basic building blocks are falling into place. I need to spend more time actually writing words out in 한글 along with speaking out loud (I mainly do that on the commute to and from my 사무실 ) but I’m really feeling good about my progress.
This was a great video and you explained the sentence structure so much better than anyone else I have found. I really like the letters to show it. Please more of this. Also your English is so good I would have never thought you haven't lived in a English speaking country.
Interesting…watching Korean movies and listening to them, i sensed it’s different order from English. But this video explained it very well to a dummy like me. Thank you.
I'm writing a script to make a video for subscribers on my channel asking how to make Korean sentences. But I think this video will be enough. So I'll recommend them to watch this video and I'm going to talk about something else.
누구가 대본을 만들지 모르겠지만 석진 씨를 사랑해요😂 I don't know if you guys give 석진 씨 his script but he's so funny in all videos ㅋㅋㅋ (Sorry if I made a mistake in his name)

I got more inspired learning this language after watching kdramas and I am very happy to share with you that TTMIK helps me out. I can read hangeul already but not that perfect, just practice reading korean articles. My Next goal is to understand what I am reading and able to construct sentences too. I hope so.
👽 You had me at Alien 😂. Brilliant gag. Nice way of recapping the structure...I struggle with it everyday. Thanks for producing these clips, they are keeping me sane! 🙏
I'm a native Hindi speaker. English wasn't much of a challenge to me as I've always watched English videos and English is the official language along with Hindi. So, it was pretty easy. I'm trying to learn Korean, it would be pretty hard since I don't know how to. I know what to do but I don't know how to.
if you actually think about it, Hindi grammatical rules are quite similar to the ones that are explained in this video. both the languages follow the same SOV word order (Subject + Object + Verb).

"Oh.. They're speaking in the past tense"

They speaks like Yoda in Starwars.
That part got me laughing >,
