Beekeeper here....The lid you had on your bees is an inner cover not a top cover so with all of the rain , the hole in the inner cover allowed the rain to get in which is why you thought they were gone. The brood is most likely lost. . That's a big set back this time of year for such a small colony. Also the other colony you showed is very small. If they have any chance to make it through the winter , you'll need to feed asap. If their frames aren't drawn out, you might be better off combining them because they most likely won't draw out frames this time of year. They definitely won't without feeding. Another tip is I have never lost a swarm if I feed them as soon as I place them in their new home. So I always recommend feeding a new colony. We only have a few more weeks to prepare oyur bees for winter. Frames need to be drawn out and filled with honey, mite treatments need to be done and they need to be winterized next month.Right now they need to be making those fat bodied winter bees but if your Queen doesn't have anywhere to lay, she can't do that.
It certainly sounds like you know what you're talking about. I hope Morgan pays attention. I applaud him for trying new things, but a quick few minutes of fact-finding can help a lot. Especially if you have experts commenting on your own videos! There's another channel, Project Kamp, who makes big mistakes, asks for help in the comments, and then either doesn't read the comments, or simply thinks they're lying. It doesn't make any sense. I wish I had the community of support that most creators on here have.
They climb on top of the igloo bc goats love climbing! At some point you should build them some sort of climbing area jungle gym type thing, I promise you they’ll use it every single day & it’ll be 100% worth it!
Hey Morgan! After the bees have started their hibernation and while the wild grass/flowers are still intact it would benefit the area to allow the goats in to do a clear before winter. They will deposit fertilizer and seeds that will bloom the following spring!! Goats are great for yard management!!
Morgan, I Really agree with TravellingGypsy that is a great thing to have your goats doing this. Just remember to have them financed in do they don't get out.
It is hilarous to see Morgan starting to enjoy the Goats, just shows sometimes it is the best to get out of your comfort zone because you never know what will happen.
The bees really braved the journey there. I'm glad the garden is so good that when the bees move it's more like a buy a house in your parent's street kind of thing. I'm glad to see you already learned a goat's 2 favorite hobbies.
Let’s face it Morgan, you are more of a bee disturber than a bee keeper, lol. Have to say you have been one lucky guy, definitely thought you’d have more bee stings by now🐝. Not to worry as long as you’re not allergic, bee stings are known to relieve or even cure some types of disease. Larn and gang are looking more settled each time we see them, it’s a good thing as Martha Stewart would say😉. Looks like life is good at Gold Shaw Farm, thanks for taking us along.🪿🦆🐥🐓🐐🐄🐕🐕💕👍
Really wouldBee great if you could have a Bee keeper walk you through finding the Queen ,placing her in a clip and show you how ,after that it's not usually a struggle at all. The haphazard method is truly a hazard for you and them. Glad you're not hurt worse, but most keepers will tell you stings is how they build immunity. Wow you got a pretty good dose there Morgan! Well being you, Allison &all the critters
Omg, that happened to me my final year of bee keeping (15). Just exactly like you. Ran away peeling off clothes, from the same lacked zipper closure, omg it had to look just like that❤😂 Tysm
Leaving off the beekeeping costume piece by piece when the bees got at you reminded me of when my 7-year-old niece got into some fireants. She ran screaming all the way to the house, stripping off as she went and was butt naked by the time she got to the porch 😂 That was 20 years ago and we still give her hell about it.
😂😂😂😂😂 too funny, my sons always had ADHD (minor not extreme) and I opted not to put him on meds, I was a lot more strict with him. Well.... he had a habit of losing house keys. He lost his set, he lost the spare, my daughter refused to borrow hers AGAIN, since I was out and he was going to be home from school and me not there for twenty minutes, I left a note in our language but wrote it in English since he cannot read our language. I wrote *chaabee* (keys) under mat, when we arrived and were parking we saw him do a wierd dance for 2 whole minutes, my daughter and I looked at each other and saying what the heck is he doing, so I starting walking up the stairs whilst shouting at him, finally got his attention, I said what????? He goes, I read *bees* he was like pretty mortified and looked like he was actually stung by a few(imaginary bees) 😂😂😂😂
As someone who has a terrible phobia of bees, this was a fun video to watch 😭 The shot of the bees falling onto the camera certainly woke up my neighbors' baby... 😅
Congrats on catching the extra swarm. And might I add, you are a million times better than me at keeping bees because I'm allergic to their sting so I would never do it. Also, nice to know the kids are growing on you.
For your bees, I highly recommend your check out Vino Farms and their Bee Barn Setup. I think it'd make things much easier on you! LOVE this farm and your channel!
Seems like the goats might be great on pasture boarders and hard jobs like clearing the duck/goose house and gardens after growing season to get ready for winter. Could also "borrow them" out to neighbors for similar tasks. Goats "should" be a bit more confinable than the pigs.
I gotta say this swarm looked pretty good for such a late swarm. Usually a late swarm is a sorry bunch that won't make the winter even if you feed them heavily. They just freeze to death because they are too small to stay warm. Also, late swarms usually happen because of Varroa mite pressure, not reproduction. So these are not normal, healthy swarms (you get these from may to july). Since you regularly have late swarms, do you treat against Varroa mite at all, and how? You might be able to save yourself some of that hassle.
Man i wish u coulda got jeff horchoff up there to help .. ngl would have been a treat❤❤ not saying u cant or dint handle it well. I def am very proud of how well u managed all tht on ur own .
Goats love to jump and climb on things, would be good for them to have more to climb on and also give them a way of getting away from the dogs, congrats on getting more bee's ♥
I was willing to rewatch buuut it’s a new video! Already expecting it to be taken down and change. Hopefully I can finish before then so I don’t have to wait for the repost 🤪
Helpful bee tips! 1. Use some rubber bands to better attach the comb to the hives, it will help keep the bees from making one giant messy hive and instead have them placed on frames nicely. The bees will chew off and take the rubber bands out of the hive after some time, it should be long enough to have the comb attached to the frame. 2. Use a soft bristle brush to brush off the bees from the spot you are trying to remove them from. It is gentle enough to keep them from getting hurt and is much better at getting them off of things like a pallet or fence.
They will certainly benefit from a home barn for nighttime and you herding them into the area you want them to clear during the day. It’s what we do with our goats.
Rush through the chores to get out there where?! Left us on a cliff hanger, Morgan. Glad you got that swarm to practice your bee keeping :p - Dakota & Angela
Hey, I know this is some unsolicited advice but you need to get back into that hive and reattach that comb correctly. You have the top oriented down now. Honey comb has a top and bottom orientation. The top that was hanging from that piece of wood needs to be facing upwards. You can use rubberhands to supprt the comb until the bees attach it. This is a common mustake that is made by new beekeepers. Get some rubber bands and attach it to the corners of the frame and use it like a basket. The top of the comb has to face the top. If you look at honey comb front the front, facing it, the comb is angled down slightly. This angle helps to keep in nectar. Just wanted to let you know so you can go back and take corrective action.
I really admire you! Your happy family and beautiful farm are a great inspiration to me. I also have a dream of having my own farm where I can raise cute little animals and grow my favorite things. I am taking steps to realize that dream and hope to achieve it in the near future. Wish you good health and continue to make great videos like this! Thank you very much!
You can use one or two of the large bolders you have to give the goats a bit of a "hill" to climb goats love that ... but of course needs to be far away from everything that they cant use it to jump out ^^
You may have relocated the queen, but workers were returning to where they knew their hive to be-hanging from that board. The queen’s pheromones were still on the board, so they clustered there. Best thing to do after is to gently scoop and relocate those bees to the bee box, and keep doing it for a few days. Best!
I know form experience that goats loves jumping up and down on things, Lamb and sheep are the same way, It's from the time when they free roamed and still free roam in rural areas. And also morgan, i think you probably could introduce the goats with the chickens and have them roam the plot, just make sure they know where they suppose to stay or fence in the areas that you don't want them, you could use those fences with electricity to do that and eventually they will learn.
Goats like to have stuff to climb on, one girl I follow has what looks like tractor tires halfway buried in the ground, and those huge spools that I think holds wire or something, shes made them walkways to get from one to the other and one of her platform areas has a plastic slide that are usually for human kids but her goats seem to like it. 😄
Morgan, keep a primatene mist inhaler around unless allison can get you epinephrine. If god forbid, you had an anaphylaxis reaction it can help keep you alive. Along with benadryl capsules.

Maybe you should take a road trip :) It is a busy time of year, reach out if you have the time, we would all love to learn your knowledge ❤❤
The Abby SLO-MO across the pasture and down the hill was so fun to watch.
You could give your goats an area with some piled up boulders (*My buddy Alfred intensifies*) . Goats love to climb, especially on rocky surfaces ^^
It was another great day of saving the bees......
we need to save the other types as well the bees that don't make hives do most of the work for plants
I can actually hear her saying that!! Lol

Morgan ya all need to watch some beekeepers procedures on how to transfer comb to frames and removing combs with a flat knife .
Maybe check Texas Beeworks
And get a queen bee clip
Maybe White House on the Hill
For a city boy turned farmer, you have grown in amazing ways, as a person, as a farmer…. More.
Hi. Loved Abby’s slow-mo. She is beautiful! You are brave Morgan. Bee keeping is not for the faint of heart. You did great!

Failure is so necessary as it is a great teacher. (Even though we beat ourselves up about our failures.)

I know you hate filming anything bee related, but thanks for taking one for the team and filming that shenanigans.😂❤🐝

Awesome bees, glad they stayed in the box!
Good to see the ducklings released! The goats are amazingly tame… seems like they’ll become a great “brush control crew”..

Goats always want to be on the highest possible perch. If you bend over and pause, you might find 4 little hooves in the small of your back.
