Well, it isn't common in Spanish anymore. Lately, all we have now is Maluma and Bad Bunny. Don't get me wrong, I like their music and reggaetón Is pretty fun at parties, but God knows I miss music with good and deep lyrics. At least we have borderline artist like Sebastián Yatra and Morat, that are saving giving us some good quality songs. But nothing as deep as the old Shakira. She is the one I miss the most.

I know it makes perfect sense that her songwriting is better in her native language, but got-DAMN this beats the hell out of anything she's sung in English.
Her Spanish lyrics are genuinely so good. It actually makes me love her English lyrics too, because the sub-par nature of her English lyrics are a reminder of her authenticity. She writes all her music, and her abilities are better in Spanish than English - but either way, what we get is genuinely her, and her own writing. So I still enjoy her English lyrics, even when they're weird lol.
Shakira's lyrics are so damn poetic and beautiful, especially in Spanish. Her native language is where her lyrical ability shines through most. However, I'd kill for an official English version of this song. It would've been another smash #1 hit for Shakira back in 2005 and I love the storyline!
I guess Spanish is really an expressive language, everyone here is like "wow she savage!" but I didn't see it like that, then I saw the English translation and it makes sense now.

The song is riddled with sayings very popular in the Spanish language. "A otro perro con ese hueso" (literally, to another dog with that bone), in some places people say "a otro niño con esa bola" (to another child with that ball), basically it means "I'm not buying that crap" =P Another very popular one is "tirarle perlas a los chanchos/cerdos" (the word for pig varies with countries), literally "to throw pearls to swine" (meaning, to waste something precious on someone who doesn't see its worth, in this case, she herself is the pearls). Another: "Es inútil pedirle peras al olmo" (It's useless to ask an elm tree for pears), meaning you can't ask someone to give something they can't because of their nature (in this case, to ask fidelity from a cheating bastard).
@@nonimi2037 a metaphor for someone who is trying to tell you lies. Fue una tortura perderte
And it hurts so much that it's like this
Y me duele tanto que sea así
Keep crying sorry
Sigue llorando perdón
I, I'm not going to cry for you
Yo, yo no voy a llorar hoy por ti
0:49 this line ❤❤❤
thank you so much for the translation! I've always loved this and wondered what they were saying at the same time!
No Es "Mi Duele Tanto" Es "Me Duele Tanto"
Thanx you made this!
(Don’t mind me just marking certain points I’m practicing)

Ay payita mía, guárdate la poesía
Guárdate la alegría pa'ti

Yo sé que no he sido un santo
Pero lo puedo arreglar, amor
No sólo de pan vive el hombre
Y no de excusas vivo yo
Sólo de errores se aprende
Y hoy sé que es tuyo mi corazón

Mejor te guardas todo eso
A otro perro con ese hueso,
y nos decimos adiós
Its funny that they translated ‘ay ay ay ay’ 🤣
I am from india..

And I love shakira❤️❤️🇮🇳🇮🇳😍
Good song. Thank you for the lyrics
I feel like watching these kind of videos is so useful for me to learn spanish. I mainly learnt english the same way
I love this song so much;)
Thanks for the translation
Thank You for the translation :)
When I was little I always thought she said turtle instead of tortura. I would sing along with them singing turtle. xD
Tortuga and tortura do sound close lol
I thought I was the only one on this planet singing Tortuga
Es una tortuga perderte😂
Seems pretty accurate according to the two years of high school Spanish i took that i can hardly remember simple words from lol. Seriously though, good video. Its not a straight word for word Google translation, but one that actually translates the grammer as well. Nicely done
Love it!
I have a Spanish class I hate. Accept for the teacher.
That must suck
Oliva Harrison lol
ty so much for the translation! i rly gotta start learning spanish
I am trying to teach myself this song in Spanish so I can sing it really fast like Shakira, however, my tongue keeps getting twisted LOL
The line with the dog bone is soo hard to sing along to
Can you sing it now?
Shakira is the real Queen of Pop 😍💖

The guy voice is like medicine for me.

She says I can’t - “ Y andar arrojando a los cuerdos miles de perlas “
translation is “ I can’t go around throwing my pearls to nasty pigs“ 😂😂 2020 translation
I'm from Spain jajaja it doesn't 'MI duele' is 'ME duele'
+Joana Rodriguez that's how it is everywhere, they just didn't know how to spell "me"
+Jaevon McGee I kno w but I just say
Oh my gosh! I have such a boring culture! I wish I was from Spain! when I grow up I will go there.
+TerryJohnson what's your culture?
I understood me duele tanto as ''I have an aching/torture'' cause in 7th grade they taught us "me duele la cabeza" for calling in sick x'D but I guess duele means hurt, and tanto means insanely..so like me duele tanto I hurt insanely, right? Just going off of guesses here cx
Beautiful translation!!
Great job translating
Thanks so much for this video! For years I've been wondering what was being said. Totally didn't take Spanish in high school. (Although, I seriously doubt that would have helped...wasn't exactly the shining student during that time period, lol.) And I guess I wasn't exceedingly curious since I never tried to ask or find the translation. But this is great. ;-P
makes me want to learn Spanish even more. tanx!

aussie.. oy! ;)
UK!
After reading these lyrics I started to cry because nowadays there is no such thing.I go to the internet and am crushed by Lil Wayne/Miley Cyrus songs.
Everyday I try and try to educate myself but can't find the reason when seeing what is needed to make it in life.
It's sad.Very sad.
You should look up more Spanish songs. They are really insightful. Look up "La Camisa Negra"

In case people are struggling with that line
try saying esotro perro con ese hueso instead of eso a otro perro con ese hueso
