- Are you struggling to draw realistic hair? In this beginner drawing tutorial I’ll give you four essential tips for learning to draw hair using pen and ink. Whether you're a beginner artist or looking to refine your pen and ink technique, these practical tips will transform how you approach drawing hair with pen and ink. In this hair drawing tutorial I’m drawing curly and wavy hair as well as a flat top hair style to show a few different variations for drawing hair but the good thing about this tutorial is that the tips I’m giving you apply to any hair style you might want to draw. You'll learn how to master the flow and direction of hair, balance drawing individual strands of hair with grouped lines, create depth with light, shadow, and contrast, and add texture variation through line quality for a natural look to your drawings. By the end of this video, you'll have the confidence to tackle drawing any hairstyle, from straight and sleek hair to wavy and textured.

Hi everyone, this is the first how to draw hair tutorial that i’ve done, lmk what you think. thanks for watching!
This is so helpful. Thank you very much!❤️😁
Awesome I’m glad it was helpful!!
Would love to see how to shade a face using graphite pencil, if that’s something you’re interested in doing a video on!
Also, a video on simple drills/warmup to develop/improve line control and technique over time would be helpful, too!
Are you more interested in proportions/getting an accurate drawing for facial features or shading (or both)?
@ mostly shading at this point; I’ve watched some videos on Loomis method, but I’d need to obviously draw placeholder lines and then erase them. I find if I let myself erase then I spend half the time erasing instead of drawing. Though if there are good techniques to draw proportionately without having to do that then I’d be interested in that, too!
@@RocketApeI’ll post a video with the main things to remember re: proportions and more focus on shading. I recommend using light guidelines (very light pressure) and then incorporate into your drawing, as you shade they won’t be noticeable if drawn lightly. The other option is to draw larger scale and then it’s easier to erase and have it be less of an issue
