Never knew this about HK at all.. and it seems like such a long time ago since Qing dynasty.... and even these so called global financial institutions... Not everything is fool proof. This is left over from those days of... imperialism isn't it ? Small micro-finances... Never realises that, those days of this kind of thing did exist. Esp when she mentioned about the coats and things...
It is part of Hong Kong history and culture which is interesting and unique.
