This is exactly why I’ve never been a big Randy Orton fan. I had a chance to meet Randy in 2014 and didn’t take it, partly because of the whole incident with Mr. Kennedy and how he handled it. A comic con in my area announced that CM Punk was going to be there, but he walked out shortly before the con, and so WWE canceled his appearance and announced that they were going to send Randy Orton in his place, and those of us who paid for CM Punk could get a photo with or autograph from Randy Orton instead if we had paid for one for Punk. I asked for my money back instead.

I really feel so bad for Ken. He was just at the wrong time to be getting a push. The whole time he was there from 2005 to 2009 he got politicized by the "Untouchables" (Cena, Orton. Triple H, HBK and Edge). It's always good to know that top guys like Taker and Batista had his back and were always willing to put him over. His move over to RAW was the begging of the end of his WWE career.

@@OffLeatherWings There was A LOT of very toxic backstage politics at WWE during the 2000's. I've been listening to a lot of shoot interviews lately (former WWE wrestler Rene Dupree recently started a series of shoot interviews with other former WWE wrestlers like Paul London and several other former WWE stars from the 2000's and all the backstage politics of the time are VERY extremely toxic beyond belief. Mr Kennedy (Mr. Anderson) was extremely popular with fans in WWE during the 2000's. A lot of the top guys were highly political behind the scenes and when they saw someone they didn't like for whatever reasons (EX # 1: guys like Orton and Cena viewing Kennedy as a threat to their top spot. EX # 2: guys like JBL with his buddy Hardcore Holly looking for someone they could bully around and mentally and physically destroy), they went after them like a group of starving piranhas. I loved the Kennedy Gimmick. Awesome times as a kid back than. Since 1997 when I was born wrestling was the shit to watch till 2010 or something like that. The next big thing was Daniel Bryan but that's it. We will never have a roster like we had back in the early 2000s. Kennedy, Finlay, Boogeyman, MVP, The Hardyz, Charlie Haas and on and on and on. So many good mid card wrestlers.

Man, I watched that match over and over and over..
I just did not see Randy's neck OR head touch the mat in that fashion.
I'd be willing to bet Randy just took the bump wrong, as it tends to happen, and Randy just assumed he did it intentionally.
Even Randy admits to being a bit of an a-hole back then as he was wrapped up in being a superstar which got to his head at times and pushed for Kennedy's punishment because it was easier to do that assume responsibility for his own actions, which it appears it might have been.
Kennedy was NOT exactly liked at the time in the locker room and this probably was pivotal in how he was fired as well.
Politicking was heavy in WWE back then.

Nothing about it seemed like he was trying to hurt Randy or doing anything out of the usual. The thing that does stick out (obviously) is the way Randy reacts right after the bump, basically taking a swipe at him and clearly trying to send a message, so I can buy that maybe Randy got hurt from it, I just don’t see how Ken did anything to add to it or make it worse, like I said it seemed totally normal.

Both Cena & Orton feared that Mr. Kennedy was popular and that he could take their spots. Neither Cena nor Orton are as solid in the ring and neither are as good on the mic. Like Anderson says here, he worked with many legends on Smackdown and it was fine. There’s been many guys that both Orton and Cena have gotten fired or demoted through their bitch politics. I legit believe Cena was doing some shady gay sh*t with Alex Riley and that’s why Cena got him fired. There’s a reason Cena was a bachelor well into his 40’s and why Nikki Bella left him and it had nothing to do with Cena not wanting kids. Cena is a freak in real life and that’s why he’s moderately successful in acting with Hollywood. Hollywood is a freak factory and Cena fits right in, his whole good guy image is the biggest joke in all of wrestling. Have you ever wondered why Alex Riley hasn’t told his side of the story? Because it would kill Cena’s character and put a target on Riley’s back.
