  • Experimenting with new .vmt material parameters, probably going to document my findings on the Valve Dev Wiki.
    Also, I don't only make machinimas, if you haven't noticed already. :P
    Music used:
    "Cities XL - Generic Atmosphere 5"
    "Flex Vector - Spellbound"

      I generally don't put out work until I'm finished with it, and I have other things I'm busy with at the moment.
      But you're awesome, so here, I'll just send you a .7z with the stuff in it that I have figured out so far. I've included an example .vmt with some basic explanation of the $treeSway parameters along with the my 3D skybox model I messed around with:
      dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/27508759/skybox_cali.7z
      Apologies for the filesize, hope you have fun with it. :P

      Yup, I'm also making a vehicle prop pack for GMod and SFM that's full of _normal_ stuff instead of supercars from your 8-year-old's Hotwheels collection. :P
      I have to make some from scratch because no models exist sadly, so progress is slow, but steady.
      Here's one I'm working on right now if you want to take a look (scratch made): steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=218767986

    anyone have success with this for custom assets? I'm making a tree model which has multiple textures (trunk, branch, leaves). Looking at example vmts from gcfscape, Valve's trees use the same method for texture files but only one of them have the $treesway parameters.
    A bit confused on how the game knows which one controls the entire models' textures.

    • @RushFreak
      @RushFreak  9 років тому +1

      I was confused about that, too. It doesn't control the materials for the whole model, you need the same paramaters on all of the .vmts that you want to move. You also need an env_wind in the map that you plan to use it on, and the $treesway command only works in the L4D2/CS:GO/SFM+ branch of Source.

  • @RantiMess
    @RantiMess 10 років тому

    Now if you could control it with elementviewer....

  • @Hav0ckSpAwns
    @Hav0ckSpAwns 10 років тому

    So how can one get this in games like Garry's Mod for example?

    • @RushFreak
      @RushFreak  10 років тому

      As far as I know, it only works in the post-L4D2 engine; so stuff like L4D2, CS:GO, SFM, _maybe_ Portal 2 and DOTA 2. We'll probably have to bug Garry to impliment it otherwise.
      I'll probably be making a Dev Wiki page for it relatively soon to explain it when I have the time.

    • @dexterproductions8683
      @dexterproductions8683 8 років тому

      You know why ? Because you can simply put a tf logo instead of the gmod logo. Why because this dude can do proggramming n shit so he can simply do it also i would like for YOU to look at the menu he is using pretty familiar huh?

    • @Surkee
      @Surkee 8 років тому

      Egor Zupnik
      Umm the menu is for Team Fortress 2.
      So because you can put a tf logo instead of a gmod logo it means that I'm an idiot for thinking that's Team Fortress 2? That's some irrefutable logic right there.

    • @RushFreak
      @RushFreak  8 років тому +2

      +AmateurUA-camr Guys, guys, calm down. It's Source Filmmaker, it was publicly released with TF2 as a base for assets out of popular demand and nobody felt a reason to clean up the underlying UI to reflect that.
