Couple things I found out. Ronnie is a man who at the time of the recording and died from HIV two months after being recorded. This is called the Botswana style of playing. They typically use 4 strings on the guitar. They use an alternate tuning . Jeff Healey, a now deceased blues musician, used the same style. This guy , who's name slips me, went to Africa and recorded musicians and they're on Piranha Records. There are many videos of Ronnie and others . Search Botswanna or Ronnie or Piranha Records. Your welcome 😁
mate, he passed away in 2018, at least 8 years after this video was posted. And it had nothing to do with HIV. why the fuck would you make this kind of thing up?
Translation, Song is in Setswana ''Why are you chasing your children from your house, Its so painful my friend that you have chased your own children from your house Where do you think they are going to from here Why why why really what do you think they are going to''

Talent is just one percent for skillful, so what is next? Listening and practicing are the key to success and master in our human life. I think you understand now what's important to you and us.
Just beautiful music, I was there 10 years ago in Gaborone(Capitol), such lively and spiritual people there, full of joy and prosperity. I did contract government work on US Embassies. The atmosphere and great food is truly missed. Play brother lol, country boy from Tennessee to another country boy in Botswana, keep jamming my brother.
Somali music from the other end of Africa is also another branch root of the blues. When I was working in Somaliland I played good old blues in the car and it went down well with the local staff. The roots of American blues was so clear. ua-cam.com/video/ZCMQjSVkcGM/v-deo.html
What Ronnie is saying on this song is "its so painful to chase away children from home, why are you chasing them, where should they go?" This is our style here in Botswana, its purely natural talent coming from rural areas. There used to be many of the same like Ronnie back in the years, many passed on just like him.
Ronnie I just got u on u tube today. Then thru u tube channel I saw the comments he has died .Wow what an awesome musician . Rip gone but not forgetten
That cat playing with only 5 strings with his hand on top of the 🎸 guitar neck, looking like, hey man, you can't play it that way-but he's making sounds that traditional guitarists would probably, in all likelihood, have trouble with.😅
It's so sad that he passed away long time ago I sow his videos today,, when I was doing further research about him I found that he died long ago,,, continue resting in peace Father 👨... we love you from Kenya 🇰🇪 🙏
i could chill and listen to ronnie play all day and for all u people saying its the same song over and over take a look at all music they all pretty much use some type of beat or what not over and over most likely botswana music thats there beat love it ronnie keep it up :)

So talented! I thought this was a woman too until I heard him sing! He was holding the guitar in front on another video a Facebook friend posted. Botswana's a sane, friendly place; I first heard about it from the Mma Ramotswe books by author Alexexander McCall Smith. Not perfect (where is?), but the very best of Africa. I recommend the books highly. I'm looking for more Ronnie!
I love your music u are gifted n talented .I rather listen to u all day than listen to rubbish , like rap songs n hip hop . Thank I for your music I love it .I love your lead work.

Wow. I had a dream yesterday that I was going to Botswana a country I dont know then landed here today.what a blessing. I heard nothing about the song but the man is talented .beautiful .
I am big fan of guitar, i was huge fan of Tarrega until this day, now as i listened to this majestic melody, rythm and style, now I am fan of Ronnie from Botswana
no I've seen him play hand under as well in other youtube videos - I think the reason he's doing it this way is the voicings he's using - notice how on the middle chord (A7) he's barring and playing the 7th on the bottom E string... it would be really really difficult (kind of impossible) to do that voicing in a standard grip.
Talent 10/10

The D string is always a pain in the ass anyway.
Quite possibly the best comment ever.

I love it because it is always uplifting.
Definetely natural talent.
There is undeniable talent, but he obviously worked at it and polished it to make a beautiful gem.

brushy took that missing string
that is hilarious
Haha, excellent! :)
😂
I imagine the missing D string was removed because it wasn't needed for the song in the slack key he was playing in and was just in the way.
LOL reading the other comments I get the joke now, GOOD ONE !!! Newly recommended video...I see why...quite different. God Bless This Man's Soul !

Glen his name was Ronnie and I believe he died of AIDS in 2018. He made millions of people happy with his music.
