Get a set of crow foot adapters, makes things like that sensor a doddle, and also change to a proper top mount inline stat, the problem with those stock stats is they're sensing water temp after the rad and having that mixed with uncooled coolant from the bypass. All of the stat nonsense was done on those as an emissions hack just to fool the tests, it's why they have a bad head gasket issue reputation.
consider changing the thermostat to inline thermostat. Its highly praised in D2 community for keeping the truck cool and efficient. Ordered mine, now waiting on the delivery to Canada
