More Buce madness coming at you! This part is a step-by-step demonstration of creating and planting a bin, per the information taught in parts 1-4. I also answer a few FAQ's. Subscribe for more tutorials and other great plant videos.
Thank you very much for all this knowledge that you've learned and gathered over time. There are not many people who'll share this. You're so good and thorough. I hope I can do half of this. 👌🏽
Wow, thank you for the kind words. I am so glad you found it helpful. Even better than extra likes would be if you shared my channel and videos with other people that might enjoy them. Thanks again 😎
Thank you for these video.. Ive learned a lot. Actually I watch your videos almost 15 times each part just to understand fully the process and technique. Ive grown bucephalandra with a trial and error using your method and I can say the result is 50-50.. I think I lack something or what so ever. I hope someday I could grow bucephalandra like a boss.
There are a lot of things that can affect the degree of success. One big factor is the health of the plants you start with. There are others factors as well. Best of luck
Thanks to your channel I can vicariously enjoy collecting and growing buce and other exotic flora because my wife would kick me out if I had a bin rack like yours 🤣🤣🤣 Great quality videos man. Hope your channel grows exponentially!!!
Hey I just saw this 5 part video and I love it! You inspire me to try grow emersed buce and i'll give it a try. Thank you for sharing this amazing information 👏
Man, you're a Boss! Thanks for sharing this awesome tutorial! I have setup some buces emersed some time, got inspired from your "growing bucephelandra emersed" series! :) thanks again mate!
Very inspiring videos, I have some bucephalandra that isn’t growing well in my planted aquarium, I’m going to try this emersed method like yours with only lava rocks.
I also did tried your ways of growing emersed buce and anubias since last sunday and everything is doing good, witj Ista Premium with osmocote as my fertilizer..
loved all your videos would the bucephalandra have a melt back if put them back in the aquarium or would they stay the same as i would like to have a go and then sell them on to my local pet shop as i have some rare bucephalandra i would like to grow then sell them to my local pet shop once again great videos cheers
Hi, do your plants get yellow leaves when you re-plant them (like from ordinary soil to Stratum)? I try to follow your method, but I currently have many yellow leaves, not sure why this happens. Cheers from Vienna, Holger
I have never transplanted Buce because I always received them without soil, then just planted directly using this method. You need to be sure to use a good fertilizer, like Osmocote Plus. I would also highly recommend using an additional Cal Mag supplement (Calcium + Magnesium). I use Cal Mag Complete from TPS Nutrients. I did not include this info in the video series because at that time I was not using it; I started using Cal Mag for all of my plants earlier this year. If you use fertilizer and Cal Mag, your plants should look absolutely amazing in time. Thanks for watching my videos.
Thanks for your tutorial! It’s really helpful for a beginner who loves Buce recently. May I ask, when “submersed” transform to “emersed”, if the old leaves would rot and the new leaves would be the “emersed “ type?
Generally the old submersed leaves will dry out and not look as good, but they usually don't rot away. Maybe after a very long time they will eventually die and decompose, but usually they can stay on the plant. But the new growth will be emersed leaves. Buce are adapted to go from submersed to emersed occasionally so there should not be too dramatic of changes either way.
Thanks for the videos! I'm wondering what you do for mold growth besides springtails and manual removal, if anything. Ever used cinnamon or hydrogen peroxide?
Thanks for watching and commenting. I’ve not tried cinnamon. I’ve tried hydrogen peroxide on a number of molds and personally never noticed any improvement. I generally don’t get a ton of mold. It helps to have lava rock above the water level so there’s less wet organic material for mold to feed on.
I have a fish tank that I'm about to break down and grow emersed plants. Just wondering if u can use the old stratum from the fishtank? It definitely has fish poop and dead snails and plant matter. What yall think??
Probably could work, but there's more chance of fungal and bacterial issues (and odor). Personally I would not do it, but it's worth an experiment with some cheap Buce in a separate bin.
Great tutorial. Do you sprinkle the plants with water regularly or just add water to the substrate? If you spray, do you spray it every day? Do you only use RO water?
Thanks for the very informative videos. I copied your setup wholesale, haha... And my plants are doing fine ..one question. Do you remove the decaying leaves /stems or you just leave them in the tub?
Saw your series of the buce, and it's really beautiful buce gardens you've. I've one question, I saw and heard that we should not put Buces in substrate instead stick them on some lava rock or rock and keep them in aquatics so it can grow well. It dies in substrate.. can you comment on my perception that i've made from various hearings.
I sometimes fill so water is at substrate level or a little above, then let it slowly evaporate until substrate is moist but not totally full of water. To avoid stagnant water and buildup of minerals and salts, you can occasionally fill the bin with water and let it sit for a day, then dump / siphon out the water.
What about starting with bare rhizomes? Kinda cheating with all those big lush heathy buce!! I think the average person gets some crap off eBay and it melts on them a week later.... great info and series though, I found it really helpful
Starting with bare rhizomes or rhizomes with less foliage would be exactly the same process. Whether or not the rhizomes survive mostly depends on their health and the shipping conditions. If they are rotted or stressed, not much can be done. If they are healthy, they will survive and eventually grow. Note that many of the Buce you see in my videos were received as smaller plants with less foliage, and I grew them up to what you see. So I was not starting with these. Thanks for your comment / question.
You mentioned using fertilizer in you last videos for Buce. Would you recommend that for other species such as moss/liverworts? I was considering using it for some Riccardia that I have but can't find much info on that.
Regarding Osmocote Plus, it seems to be safe for bryophytes. I use it for all of my plants, in all of my plant bins, and there is moss and liverwort in there. If I ever have moss/liverworts in separate containers and they start to look nutrient deprived, I will spray them with a little diluted liquid fertilizer such as 1/4 strength Urea Free Grow More Orchid Fertilizer. Osmocote Plus will also work, but the nutrients aren't spread as evenly as a liquid spray. In any case, feel free to experiment on small bits of different species with different fertilizers.
I have had some die back so there are no leaves, then they will grow back. So, yes. But the rhizome must be healthy. If it's rotted the chances are low
hello, right now I'm also trying your tutorials , hopefully it can grow well. do you know the type of bucephalandra sp phantom and buce sp falcon f643? Does the bucephalandra I mentioned have a scientific name?
Another World Terraria I have a few more questions, hopefully you are willing to answer them. I followed your method but using aquasoil and fine lava stone. after 5 days are planted, is it normal for some leaves to become soft / rotten? how to reduce it?
Yes, new plants often lose leaves. Assuming the conditions are appropriate, there is nothing you can do. They just need time to stabilize. Also, old plants can rot at any time, it is not always clear what triggers it.
Hi, with sealed box, do we afraid lake of Oxygen or CO2 for plants ? And How often mist watering and do neccessary to avoid over watering to cause root rot ?
the box should have some small ventilation holes, or otherwise it should be opened occasionally for air. mist to keep the plants happy and moist, more often if there is more ventilation and higher temperatures. you can let the water in the substrate evaporate a bit so the roots are just slightly moist and then water again and then wait for it evaporate again, so the roots are not constantly wet.
@@AnotherWorldTerraria if have no standing water then it will good smell is it right? If haven't springtails then would be any issue? or has anything alternative to it?
springtails are not required, just an added help if you can use them. water has no effect on the smell. the smell would be from if things are decaying/rotting. although too much water for too long could case root and rhizome rot. just follow everything in the video that you can do and my other comments over the past few days and you should do well. good luck
My filmy ferns and selaginella speicesarent doing so well and there is basically no way to get the selaginella sp. And the filmy ferns will be hard to get! I need some help
Has to do with a number of factors such as ingredients/composition, pH, stability and longevity in wet conditions, etc. Generally, potting soil does very poorly when extremely wet for long periods, it becomes very acidic and anaerobic.
You might want to watch the other parts in this video series here ua-cam.com/play/PLQNZbIPMHMsHG8YKycFcg3XrkDx6QZwOF.html which answer your questions and explains a lot
Good question. I did not think of that, I guess because it's pretty simple. Just divide the clumps / break off smaller plants from the main one, being sure they have a good amount of roots and rhizome. Then replant.
Another World Terraria Thanks! I was a little worry about that because you do not mention to keep the rhizome above the substrate, I will try this method with some buces I got 😎🤟😎

@@AnotherWorldTerraria Okay, how long you are putting Buce's on the substrate and yes I am amazed to see your aquatic garden.
