    Im with you Mark, nothing wrong with GT Citrus Wash but I wouldn't order any more once my bottle has been used up as Decon does it for me. For me, Decon was a game changer of a product in so many ways, pre wash, snow foam or shampoo. I dont know of another product that is so good at so many things. As for Johns comment on wearing shorts, you're Irish nothing more to say🤷🏻‍♂

      @@SparkleanAutos wouldn't surprise me if it were in the works. GT so far have shown no willingness to rest on their laurels in improving products. I'm sure expecting GT Alpha wax to get a V2 to make it easier to apply, more durable and hopefully a price reduction thrown in for good measure as the current pricing is making it a difficult option to it's competitors.

      I'm a big fan of GT products but Alpha wax, for me anyway, doesn't need a revision .. it needs to be abandoned and started from scratch... I'm off the opinion that a wax application is a process for enthusiasts, and it has to be an enjoyable process... I've tried Alpha Wax 3 times now and each time I haven't enjoyed applying it. Great results yes, but I can get great results from a lot of waxes and still enjoy putting them onto the car at the same time!

    Great video Mark and welcome back Quick Test Tuesday 👏👏.
    I have to agree with you on the decon arguement, its so versatile that you could water it down even further if killing the lsp is of a concern. However if its winter grime I tend to add a capful to the GT snowfoam and thats enough to give it a bit of extra bite.
    By the way my dash nearly needed cleaning as I spat a mouthful of coffee over it when I thought i heard you say lets rinse this Decon shit off, only to realise what you actually said 🤣🤣🤣. You're gonna kill my one of these days 🤣🤣

    Great video Mark and a welcome return to QTT!, AWESOME idea to test between Citrus and Decon, so GT now has up to 3 choices of pre Wash (we have 4 😉) it was quite a surprise to see GT releasing a citrus prewash when one Snowfoam has citrus in it 🤔 maybe satisfying the market for one or giving the consumer the choice as a lot of the comments seem to suggest they think Decon is only for old wax removal 😬
    I agree on not using the lance method though, I might just go and order that pump sprayer now 😂

    • @SparkleanAutos

      Yeah the misunderstanding around Zero Decon is quite surprising - people seem to be under the impression that one use of this will just completely strip off your protection, no matter how fresh 🤷🏻‍♂️ I imagine any product that could do that at 5% when sprayed on and rinsed off would also take some of the clearcoat with it, and would be as pleasant if it got in your eyes as the dreaded IW Incinerate 😵
      But in reality Decon is an extremely versatile product and if you dilute it properly you can use it for nearly anything!
      And I have to agree that the only reason I can see for Citrus being produced was to appease people who didn't understand the existing range... Snow foam (V1 & V2 😉) are both strong enough to deal with most, up until the point where Decon could easily take over and still be cost effective.
      Finally yes, get the sprayer ordered (I've a second on its way to me right now 😁😁) and remember to use my link 🤣🤣🤣👌🏼

    GT Decon shampoo is really versatile. I’ve been using it as a wheel shampoo lately having run out of GT’s own Wheel shampoo and I think it’s possibly even better and gets the browning out of the tyres too, which the GT wheel shampoo doesn’t do. Only question as a pre wash via a sprayer is whether it’s LSP safe I guess. Good test here anyway & thanks for posting. 🙏🏾

    • @SparkleanAutos

      Thanks Barry, I've used it plenty at this dilution (1:19 / 5%) and haven't noticed any significant effect on LSP - Granted though because I'm always trying to test products I don't really put long-term protection on the cars! But it's supposedly very good for unclogging ceramic coatings... Thanks again 👍🏼

    Good to see the quick test tuesday back Mark and this worked so well for this test. Some great tunes too👍
    As for the product it seems a solid pre wash that does the job as intended. Something youd expect coming out the GT stable. The comparison with Decon is natural i guess and the question will always arise why they needed to release it? Youve only got to look at the comments here to see people simply dont understand Decon shampoo and its affects at diff ratios.
    Would i buy it? Unlikely given i have plenty of Decon and understand how to use it. Plus for me, Citrus looks like a re hashed Snowfoam to me and i also have plenty of that which i have used via a pump spray to good affect. People will ultimately buy it though as people like "Citrus Pre Wash" in the name and this is the only reason GT would have released it imo

      Can't disagree with a single word you just said - people definitely seem to be under the impression that if you let decon shampoo near your car it's just gonna strip your protection away 🤷🏻‍♂️ well, their loss sadly because it's a fantastic product.

    Decon is clearly a great product but I can't help wondering if it's a sledge hammer to crack a nut for medium soiling. Maybe I'm wrong, but a snow foam and a 1:10 surfex hd local spray for the bug guts would be adequate

    • @SparkleanAutos
      @SparkleanAutos  5 місяців тому +1

      Well it's a good question but... Using Surfex at 1:10 would actually be stronger than using Decon Shampoo at 1:20... plus you're also throwing a snowfoam into the mix which is actually making your suggested method not only more expensive (Surfex is half the price but you're using twice as much, plus the snowfoam), but possibly counter productive as, depending on your chosen snowfoam and when you apply it, you could actually be reducing the cleaning power if the 10% Surfex you've applied.
      I'm not saying decon is the only option - personally I only use it when I need to, just as I use Surfex when I need to - but that particular part of this test was to demonstrate that this GT citrus product is on a par with Decon in terms of cleaning power at 1:20... this series is about testing individual products, it's not about me trying to declare the best products in each category, as there's far too many variables to make those claims 👍🏼

    good video, i like my citrus pre-wash with a foam blanket, currently use Infinity Wax's one, but i have tried GT's and its similar to IW (but the safety caps are a pain, especially after very cold winter, and my fubar hands). In the GT line up, i guess if you clean your car often, you wouldn't want to be using decon everytime, or it will be stripping off the protection your looking to top up. Or perhaps you do want to strip off protection, if its just spray/rinse wax, or sealant. I've been using IW Wax Off Shampoo when i want to 'reset' and test other products.

    • @SparkleanAutos
      @SparkleanAutos  5 місяців тому

      Thanks Mogsy. I don't mind blanketing my citrus with some foam, especially after it's had a few minutes to dwell, but I don't find actually foaming the citrus itself to be cost-effective!
      And no, I definitely wouldn't be reaching for Decon for every wash although at that dilution it won't be stripping off LSP, unless that LSP is already starting to degrade. I'm a big fan of the GT lineup myself, but I just don't really see a place for this citrus in between their snow foam and decon wash. But that's just me, I'm sure plenty of others disagree and that's what makes the world go round 🙂👍🏼

  • @craigmarsh3221
    @craigmarsh3221 5 місяців тому +3

    Hi great video I thought that the decon shampoo was designed for striping waxes so every time you use it it will take off your protection so the prewash will not take off your protection only the crap that's my thoughts maybe you can advise me but that's how I see it.

    • @SparkleanAutos
      @SparkleanAutos  5 місяців тому +4

      Hi Craig - Decon shampoo will help remove the remnants of old waxes/sealants IF they're already showing signs of failing - but using it at this sort of ratio won't have that effect - if it strips a fresh wax off at 5% dilution then that wax wasn't very good to begin with!
      In actual fact, for ceramic coatings, products like decon shampoo, and even fallout removers, can actually help to unclog them and bring back the water behaviour.
      So no, it's a common misconception but in reality, contact washing will do more to degrade a wax/sealant than using something like either of these at that dilution ratio 👍🏼

    Hi Mark you are either brave or mad wearing shorts in winter but by the amount of bugs on the car me thinks this was maybe filmed in the summer months. I have never applied Citrus products by lance and that will not be happening after this test. I bought AutoBrite Direct Citrus 5L in one of their sales and I have still 2.5 L left after about 4 years even though I use it nearly every time I do a detail and even after David@DM Detail suggested I could up the dilution safely I still don't see the level drop dramatically. I only pre rinse if the car is heavily soiled to let the citrus at least part contact the paint to get under the road film. I do love a white car as it can look clean longer but then you realise it is filthy when you detail it and they do look so good when finished. I do like to LSP them with a spray sealant or a liquid product rather than a wax as they are difficult to see where they are waxed unless I am really methodical and have a lot of time to keep checking my progress. With regards GT products I have used most of them and they do really impress me. I would be using citrus rather than decon if I had a wax on the car but if it was a deep clean Decon would be my product of choice rather than citrus as a pre wash. After your previous video I put Sigma on top of one of Mitchell & Kings luxury waxes to great effect just don't tell tell John@M&K but it has come up really well and GT QD will be applied at the next wash to improve it further if that is possible. I look forward to your next video.

      Haha yes John, I can't remember exactly but it was definitely filmed before last Autumn (judging by the leaves on my neighbours tree 🤣) but I'll also admit that I'm one of those weirdos who wears shorts all winter too 😬
      I'm also a huge fan of the Autobrite Direct Citrus and actually bought another 5L of it in their Halloween sale - I find that it's on a par with this one as a maintenance pre-wash and it's typically about £10 cheaper for the 5L container. Typically use it at 1:20 - 1:30 but go stronger if needed, OR reach for Zero Decon! And if I need stronger than that I go to my secret weapon (which isn't even a secret lol) A-Kem PreClean (Previously Anachem Articulate before their rebranding) which is the strongest pre-wash I've ever used that I know is safe to use!

    • @SparkleanAutos
      @SparkleanAutos  5 місяців тому +1

      I guess you'll never know until you try it and give it a fair, impartial comparison side by side...
      For me, Autowash is without a doubt one of the most boring shampoos I've ever used, there's absolutely nothing about using it that makes me want to reach for it - the only thing in its favour, for me, is a 1:2000 dilution but it's only pennies per wash so I'd rather use a product I enjoy using lol
      As for Surfex & Autowash - well before my UA-cam days, and even for the first few months of UA-cam, they were still my go to maintenance products but the more I used others, the more I began to realise that, particularly in the case of Autofoam, it's not the flawless game changer people like to believe. For one, you need to use about 200ml in a lance to even make it a decent cleaning product, it leaves a rainbow residue if not rinsed correctly, and it smells like a toilet cleaner 🤣
      Surfex is Surfex and is still pound for pound one of the best APCs on the market, and it still gets used a lot around the house and the cars!!

      @SparkleanAutos  5 місяців тому +1

      Thank you Roy, Quick Test Tuesday in a Tuesday for a change! Amazing isn't it lol
      Right, to answer your questions -
      1. Adding Citrus into Snow Foam - personally I've never seen a benefit to this, partly for the same reason it doesn't really work in this video - adding it to the lance significantly waters it down way below manufacturer's normal recommended dosage... But... Stay tuned as I do have a video coming up related to this very subject within the next few weeks 😏
      2. Rinsing from the bottom up. Well, every 'expert' has an opinion on this but quite frankly, it doesn't really make any difference to the end result! I rinse from the bottom as I think thoroughly removing pre-wash chemicals is essential - but rinsing from the bottom it's easier to see which areas I've rinsed. But there is, I suppose, some justification behind it which works the opposite of a contact wash - when you wash your car with mits (AFTER THE PRE-WASH!! lol) you should always wash from the top, as nearly everyone knows. The top is cleaner, the bottom, being closer to the road, is dirtier... So the last thing you'd want to do is drag the dirt from the dirtiest parts upwards towards the cleaner parts. Makes sense
      So... When prewashing, the areas which require the most attention are STILL the lower sections, only this time you do them first... As if you do the top first you'll simply be diluting the product on the bottom further before you hit it with the pressure washer.
      Now, that's a theory and realistically the chemicals should have already done their work on the lower sections by that stage, but I believe that's why a lot of people do it that way.
      But, from a video point of view, it just looks better on camera 🤣
      Hope that answers your questions mate 😁👍🏼 and thanks again!

    You didn’t mention if the vehicle had an lsp applied.. if it did then this vid is misleading

      In what way would it be misleading?!
      It would certainly be misleading if I'd said it didn't have LSP when it did, OR if I'd said it DID have LSP when it didn't... But if I didn't mention it, where does the 'misleading come from?
      In fact, the main section of this video was a comparison between 2 products, so the LSP status of the vehicle was irrelevant, provided the test area was consistent.
      Perhaps you should consider changing your attitude before making accusations and actually think about what you're saying?

      @@SparkleanAutos maybe because a pre wash product works better when the vehicle has an lsp on.. I rate a product when it works on a completely unprotected vehicle but the problem is not many do unless they are very caustic! I don’t know why you are getting so defensive? I only asked if there was an lsp applied.. maybe you need to re read what I initially posted.. I’ve been in the detailing game for years now and the amount of over hyped products I’ve seen is ridiculous so maybe that’s where the skepticism derives from! I’ve seen so many people fall for the next detailing big thing when most of the time it’s just a reworded/redesigned product that has been before.. and don’t get me started on the buzz words that are banded about throughout the scene!

      @@kamranhussain578 I'm not promoting products though, I couldn't care less if people buy it or not, I'm simply using them on the car in front of me and telling the viewer if it works or not. The overwhelming majority of people who watch detailing videos are people who regularly apply LSPs so they would, generally speaking, assume there was some... As it happens, there wasn't in this case, but I didn't feel the need to highlight that as it wasn't necessarily relative the comparison test I was carrying out... That said, had you ASKED me, I would have answered, but you didn't, you felt the need to imply that I was misleading the audience and I take great pride in being honest in my videos, so didn't appreciate the insinuation 👍🏼
