Thank you for reacting to this OVA, I saw some reactors don't like to watch the OVA and felt underwhelmed, but I think personally these OVAs are really good, no regrets, especially, we can see how our underground Levi, along with Furlan and Isabel helping the poor even though he is also poor, he is always amazing even since his underground time, helping everyone and that what makes us love Levi and his friends. I also feel sad when levi sliced the titan, it should be an amazing scene but see levi is in so much pain makes it so hard to watch. Rest in power Isabel and Furlan, although we only met you in these two OVAs, you both will be missed and always in our memories. I can kinda see that people might feel underwhelmed if you watch it after season 1 and you are just super hype to just start season 2 and don't know what to expect. But the ovas are a nice addition to the show and we enjoyed them, No Regrets are on another level tho and they are freaking amazing! 😭 nice to hear you are excited for more OVAs ^^ we will hold some Polls towards the end of season 2 what OVAs people want use to see. Most people just wanted No regrets and not A sudden visitor and distress, so they became Patreon Exclusive. I think this was the first time Levi smiled, the first time he was angry, the first time he was sad and cried, the first time he was in his maid costume and start cleaning happily. Isayama, the writer once said that Levi is the most emotional one out of all in AOT. He just doesn’t show it. Every time he tries to suppress his feeling. From this OVA only we finally can see Levi let his emotions out. And these moments are all priceless bc we never know when we ever see these again

I just realized that Levi has weared his cravat since his earlier days in survey corps. Why Isayama did this to me. You know what made me fall in love with Levi was his cravat and now I am falling even more
Levi is my favorite character in the entire show, because he is such a greatly written character. He IS humanity's strongest soldier but he still is powerless in those situations. He has lost his family because he made the decision to go for Erwin instead of staying with them. In Season 1, he lost his entire squad which became like a second family to him because he told Eren to make a decision that turned out wrong (him not transforming and trusting them instead, basically the same as Levi in the OVA). But Levi isn't angry at Eren, because he knows that "With great power comes great responsibility (famous line from Spiderman)", including the decisions you make. "No Regrets" is the perfect title for the OVA, because from this point on, Levi has tried to make decisions he will not regret, but ultimately fail at it just as Eren does multiple times. It is rare that you see a cool, badass character that seems like he has no emotions who at the same time has enough depth to him that he could be a main character. Isayama is a genius.

I do love ACWNR manga Erwin a lot more than the anime version, but I didn't so much mind his speech to Levi at the end. Though, I wish they had blended the two speeches together - the manga one is so incredible.

You defeated an abnormal so easily on your first expedition. I'm sure having a natural like you around will make the others feel safer." Whereas in the anime Erwin is, as you say, cold. Why replace those praises with chastisement over "using too much gas"? For more tension? Or was someone upset because Erwin is too perfect a character and they wanted to knock him down a few? It's a shame we didn't get more of Hange in the anime, too. There's a whole scene in the manga where they sit with Levi, Farlan, and Isabel and talk him up. The mood goes from very tense (Levi grabs his blade, prepared to kill Hange, because he thinks they overheard the plan to kill Erwin) to very relaxed and friendly - Hange explains they're eager to learn Levi's "secret trick" to being so strong and skilled with the ODM gear; that he has given the soldiers "hope that humans don't have to lose to the titans if we fight correctly"; and they even give Isabel a bag of cookies 🥺 I thought this was an important moment because it's when the crew start to humanise and empathise with the Survey Corps soldiers. Levi and Isabel notice parallels between their own dreams to be free from the Underground and the soldiers' dreams to be free from the walls. (And the scene where Isabel has a moment of pride, followed by embarrassment, because she's really been getting into the role of a SC member and finally masters the salute, is so cute!) I understand removing scenes is necessary when adapting to another media (obviously you need to condense the story), but the complete mischaracterisation of Erwin was a step too far 😭 Not sure if that was a decision made by WIT or someone else. Sorry, I went on a bit of a tangent and vent there! I think this is me procrastinating from study, lol.
Levi is literally my favourite character, he spent his life seeing his friends eaten by titans, lost his friends, squads, all with painful deaths, but with all this $-hit, he is still strong, keep moving forward, and fighting, protecting who left, and suppressing all emotions The song "So Ist es Immer" is beautiful btw, I feel like this song give us hope even in this very painful situation
Levi follows Erwin because he wants to find meaning in the loss. He wants to see the same light that Erwin sees at the end of the tunnel. Maybe it's an exit. Maybe it's just a blaze of harsh flames ready to incinerate them. Either way, Levi is going forward. With No Regrets.

In the manga, he closed Isabelle's eyes after discovering her head, and then once he saw the titan, he jumped on top of it, then quietly killed it in one strike by slicing its neck. Yes, this is probably the closest levi has gotten to venting and letting out his trauma ever since his life began

The detail that hit hard for me was that levi didn't really say Erwin's name the majority of the time (unless I forgot, I'm sleepy rn), if he did , he would say "I'll kill you Erwin Smith" but then finally at the end he said "ill follow you, Erwin Smith" For some reason, the execution and the music at that exact moment was enough to put a lump in your throat

It was amazing to watch along with you guys, and I could see you were all getting emotional at the end, too 🫂 I don't mean to sound like I'm delighting in your pain or anything, but I do love to see how AoT affects people. It's such an incredible story, and the fact that it - or Isayama - is able to elicit these emotions (and with such ease!) from the audience goes to show how masterfully conceived and articulated AoT is. And the ability to get the audience invested so heavily in characters (especially those who we meet and lose in a single episode or two) is both incredible and sadistic 😅 I agree that it's not necessary to watch the OVAs, but they're all sooooo good, *especially* No Regrets! (Random shoutout to Hiroshi Kamiya for his sublime voice acting as Levi). Also, when you get to season 3 (NO SPOILER), you might pick up a reference to A Sudden Visitor. It's just like a little 'in-joke' for the audience who has seen that OVA. BTW, I love how moved you were by So ist es immer. I listen to the AoT soundtracks all the time in the car and whenever that song comes on, I become a complete wreck 😭 Finally, (season 3 SPOILERS) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . In No Regrets, Levi said "I'll be the one to kill him"... and in Midnight Sun, he did 😭😭😭
Oh man, I never knew about the OVA's when I watched the first time, so I watched them for the first time recently when I'm rewatching with my cousin, these OVA's were so funny and interesting but this in particular damn we were like you guys at the end so shocked and sad at that ending. Agree with what Niklas said couldn't even get hyped at that awesome animation. Such an emotional story. 😢
I feel like this is the only point where Levi intentionally tortures a titan before killing it. In the series Levi has shown to have his own battle tactic against Titans to finish it off quickly, starting by taking the legs, then the eyes, then one swoop to the nape. He straight up cut deep wounds everywhere in this Titan's body, and even decapitated it, before dealing the one finishing blow. He really looked like he wanted this Titan to feel every injury that his friends suffered before dying. Let's just acknowledge the pain Levi has gone through because this man is too strong to die and his friends just come and go. Respect for this man. LEVI.

Cool to see Erwin and Mike doing a pretty good job against Levi, now it makes sense how they're in the SC for so long and became leaders in the Corps, that's smth we don't see in the main story so the OVAs are really necessary to watch imo
