I remember that a cleaning supplies company called 'Brytaflor' operated out of the railway arches in the mid-eighties. Good people.

Such an interesting video, Colin. Incredible to see what has changed over the years. The area seemed so much more vibrant in the past. All rather soulless now. The ornate footbridge was spectacular! Thanks for the post 👍

Lost its reason to exist, really. By the late 70s onwards it was seedy, and sometimes dangerous. Some nasty crimes happening around there.

I had to laugh at the sign on the tram, 'CWS, cut the cost of living' It's one of the dearest shops around. Some nice architectural buildings lost to the city planners who must have been drunk when planning crap. It mazes me that they can rip the heart out of a community and replace that character with boring facades. Well done again for highlighting this issue. Take care. Hugs from us both.

Hi James hope you and Sanja are well. They have ripped the heart out of the area. Like many places in the North East. I just love making videos to let people know there was a better side to these areas. I would nave loved to have been able to get up there to see if there was any part of the Station Left. Take care hoping to get to Beamish soon the weather has been awful so its been delayed.

The High Level bridge should be two traffic for buses, all it needs is traffic lights to control the direction, they should be look at getting bus off the Tyne bridge, they could also make some of the roads two-way from the bridge to Eldon Square, this would make a direct bus lane fom the High Level to Eldon Square

If you came out of the station hotel and turned left and walked around to the left under the bridge it was just on the other side of the bridge the road goes through we’re it stood.
Do you have any photos of Mulgrave bathes ?👍

We used to go to mulgrave baths to swim most saturdays then went over the joke shop afterwards to spend our last pennies.
