I like the punter pick now but only because the Bears traded back in to get Austin Booker for an Edge Rusher. When a team has 4 picks needs should be met and not wasting picks.Taylor is. N excellent punter though and will help the Defense

Angelo constructed a team that went to the SB. Poles is good, and I'm a big fan, but pump the breaks.
Been a Bears fan for 40+ years and I have to say I have never been more excited about a coming season and beyond since 85... The Bears really, REALLY killed it in this draft, great signings in the off-season so far. The foundation looks to be there now, we have great individual players, they just need to gell into a team. Practice, development and patience. Yes, I'm really optimistic about our future.

But I've also experienced several amazing drafts & this sure feels like it makes that "amazing" level. But, the proof will be in the on-field production & I'm excited to see how the Bears compete each & every year from here on out! BEAR🐻DOWN!
Still need work on offense line and would worry about the QB his game will not correspond well in the NFL
@@thomasmelone1028 Shane Waldron has a very QB friendly system that revived Geno Smiths career and elevated Russell Wilson development and helped him learn to throw to the middle of the field. I am not concerned with CW development but am concerned with the balance of Shane’s offense. He generally loves the pass and gets away from the run which we know seals victories while closing games controlling the clock.

There are still some solid rotational guys available on the DL in FA too. Even some OLmen that would be worth bringing in.
Every year, GM Poles has brought in a boatload of undrafted free agents... this year will prove to be no different.

Tremendous job to the Chicago Bears team. It was very difficult to say goodbye to past players who left us, but I'm very hopeful with the new talented players added this year. This year's draft class will be franchise altering with Caleb & Rome. I don't know what the future holds but I do know with hardwork, self-sacrifice, and teamwork everything is ahead that the Bears will be able to overcome. Our 10-24 head coach is incredibly fortunate to be put in this situation......hard to trust him after his horrendous job of preparing his guys for the 2023 season. His new beard isnt going to make me forget all that. Hope he proves me wrong.

I’m confused. Why wouldn’t a rookie QB play in the preseason? 🤔
He will do most of his work on the practice field & will be limited in exhibition play. All the key studs will have limited playing time. Injury prevention is a top priority. With only 3 games to analyze the fringe draft picks & free agents in true game conditions, the coaching staff needs them on the field showing what they can do. And based on their performances, the coaches can use the film to help their development... and eventually decide who are the "keepers".

Poles is a great GM. A lot of this rebuild was accelerated based on the luck of a successful hail mary play by the Texans, but Poles has also done a really good job with both trades, and draft picks. We've finally got a GM that knows what he's doing, and he's young and should be around for a long time. Hopefully the coaching staff is up to the task of maximizing this roster that Poles is building.
You call Poles a great GM when he screwed locker-room leader and fan favorite after Fields was subjected to his teardown and then dismissed like trash. I call that a man who doesn’t want to win now and adding years to his job

The big elephant in the room is Shane Waldron. Without him being a top OC who designs plays for Caleb and his receivers, they will be behind Detroit and the Packers who have much better offensive coaching.

It's too bad you missed out on the 4 draft classes that built the '85 Bears... Free Agency didn't exist back in those years.
These guys haven’t done anything yet except benefit off prior regimes’ heartache but let’s hope they can do something with this haul.

Don’t know about the punter, but I know he had A TON of attempts. That Iowa offense was one of the worst in collegiate history. PUTRID

He holds numerous NCAA records. He’s one of the best punters in NCAA history. Go watch the tape on him. Not only does he have a cannon for a leg it’s his accuracy that is the most remarkable thing I’ve ever seen. I’m a Hawkeye fan so I’ve seen it week in and week out. He pins offenses inside the 5 yard line routinely. Not only can he put the ball where he want it, the ball like dead stops. It doesn’t roll. It’s nuts. Craziest thing I’ve ever seen.

We have 3 excellent WRs, Multiple TEs and backs, rookie QB and a coordinator that favors 2 WRs, 2 TE, 1 RB occasionally calls. I think he's a good coordinator step for transition from Air Raid but best case scenario we get more advanced in year 2. I believe we have too much offense for this coordinator. This is Miami amount of options for a Riley QB

Yes that is true but Poles should still be praised for his part in trades and the player that he’s hit on in the draft. The amount of starting quality players he’s hit on is impressive. He’s missed on wr a couple times in the draft (and Claypool), but I think Rome will make up for it
Yes, luck had a role but let's be honest... There's only a handful of GMs that would actually take advantage of that luck the way he has.

we currently have 2 high level starting tight ends, and have 2 starter quality centers
statistically trenton gill was the 2nd worst punter in the nfl in terms of EPA/p, opposing defenses often had GREAT starting field advantage which was horrible for us

The number one and number two all-time Bears leaders in points are kickers. Kickers matter. Field position is huge. How many 4th rounders are sure starters? This one is.

Look at the data. Getting good punts pinning them back will save you so many points and long possessions on your defense.
Not quite as good as 1983 when we got Tom Thayer, Mark Bortz, Jimbo Covert, Dave Duerson, & Richard Dent. Dent & Covert are Hall of Famers now. And Bortz, Thayer, & Duerson made so many pro bowls I lost track. In my life though. Never seen a 1st round like this. Then again, I wasn't around in in 1965 when they got Butkus at #4 and Sayers at #5. Safe to say that no team will duplicate that!!!!❤
