Diplomatic row between Niger and Benin stalls oil movement

  • Six Nigerien soldiers were killed in an attack on Sunday while protecting an oil pipeline to neighbouring Benin, according to the Niger army. With over 80% of fuel in Sub-Saharan Africa moved by road tankers, there's a push to build cross-border pipelines. But the escalating diplomatic row between Niger and Benin has so far stalled the drive. Tilewa Adebajo from CFG Advisory has more.

    Niger, not much different from Mali earlier, itself came in the footsteps of Burkina Fasso who took the lead first, the 03 neighboring sisters are setting themselves to be free from French and western imperialistic domination and resources control.
    Whatever is happening should be looked rationally through these specific facts and this strong analytical ground.
    Of course, this move is led by military young officers fed up from being exploited for decades by others, today, fighting for a full sovereignity.
    The dictatorship, was the context of last past decades since "the independance" 50's and 60's.
