@Lighter Fluid15 same with ozil. Mofo parties with the dictator leader of Turkey while playing for the German national team, while there are turks in Germany opposing the government.
Why not play for the Turkey national team?
@@AJ-jq3hm He met the guy once. Doesn't mean he agrees with all his political views. Don't be an idiot. And it was the backlash of such an inconsequential incident and the reported racism and hate directed towards Ozil and his family that lead to him retiring from the national team he loved playing for.
@Lighter Fluid15 I'm for Scottish independence, but one of the only unifying areas that I live for is sport. I'd represent GB if I was good enough to in my sport. Pique does not need the money from the national team - it's paltry in comparison to his massive club wage.

I'm actually surprised that no Canadian player from any club, namely Impact de Montréal has come out in support of the Bloc Québécois and the Quebec independence movement, considering that the Bloc is getting more support thanks to Yves-François Blanchet.
I’m just gonna like and pretend I know what u mean
Because it is not important.
@@roobsh227 I'm not Canadian, but I'm interested in their politics, and I'll summarise it for you.
Quebec: Quebec is a province in Canada which is predominantly French-speaking, and their people have developed a national identity, and have pushed for an independence movement. In 1995, the Quebec government had a referendum to see whether or not their people wanted independence. It was incredibly close, but Quebeckers voted to stay in Canada by 50.58% of the vote.
Impact de Montréal: They're an MLS club that play in Montréal, which is the largest city in Quebec. Unlike other clubs in separatist regions, they dont promote a separatist agenda.
Bloc Québécois: They're a political party in Canada which exclusively run candidates in Quebec, and fight for Quebec sovereignty. Their party was dormant for a few years after the resignment of their leader(I forgot his name). However, the party have been doing quite well since a man by the name of Yves-François Blanchet took over them. They did pretty well in the 2019 Canadian presidential election.
@@SantomPh Kat Canada isu ni memang penting bro. It's a pretty hot topic, but it's less tense than other independence movements, such as the Catalan independence movement.
At least their government does not have double standards when fining people for breaking lockdown, and try to impose a national emergency just so that the Prime Minister can save his job. Honestly in a country like Malaysia, you can never truly trust anyone.
Bloc Québécois doesn’t really run on a separatist agenda right now, more like more autonomy/self governance. Can you direct me towards the Impact’s support for them/separatism?

Day 18:the decline of Scottish football- how teams like Aberdeen and Celtic went from European trophies to struggling to qualify and why the national team has become so poor
Its fairly obvious and straight to the point. Theres no money in scottish football. Other leagues started branding more and making more money. Scotland didnt
Scottish football is fucked because of lack of money from the clubs greed and the collapse of setanta sports, as well as various social factors, along with a style of football and mentality that throws smaller talented footballers to the side if they aren't fully grown men by the age of 16. Countries like Belgium, Croatia, the Netherlands all produce world class players and qualify for tournaments, and are a similar size. Scotlands 2 best players both play the same position 😂 (Robertson and Tierney).
THIS but an Irish version too
@@darraghcodd3575 At club level, clubs did ok considering resources and advertising, the cup winners cup helped a small bit, but if you look at how popular football became under Jack Charlton with the national team, this didnt translate back to club sides who continued to struggle.
LOI teams had high attendances at games during the 1950’s and 60’s too.
Edit: yes it is obvious for us in Ireland, but it’s about telling a story. Like the recent video Alfie did on Ludogrets, if your from Bulgaria, it was all obvious.

Good grief, between Zidane and Lewandowski, Blackburn have missed out on some real talent over the years.

Za dom spremni has been used for hundreds of years and means “for homeland ready” which was chanted before battle before the ustaše was even formed so that doesn’t mean he is a nazi. Also there’s many ethnic Croatians that live in Herzegovina so it’s not that confusing that his parents are from Bosnia.

I was gonna ask for a video ages ago a bit like this along the lines of:
Left XI v Right XI
With Cantona, Neville Southall, Maradona on one side for example and Di Canio, Reina, possibly Ronaldinho on the other with the imperative being it would have to be pretty far left and far right so that it could be more easily differentiated between. Problem is, its such a vaguely qualitative thing to assess im not sure where you would draw the line, basically I was trying to get the point across of how ditched footballing talent often is from things like politics as you have amazing talent on both sides regardless of if they are arseholes.
Your format makes a lot more sense tho, great video!
If you keep making these I will keep watching. It is great to see you cover these politics and football topics as the two are usually intrinsically linked especially when it comes to the world cup
Really interesting video man. I'm shocked the video about players who became politicians was 3 years ago. Keep making the kind of football content we can't get anywhere else!
Chris Hughton once wrote an article for the Morning Star.
I am a supporter of the yellow-black team in the intro with the player doing the nazi salute. The club is AEK Athens and I was at the stadium on that day. AEK is a refugee club, neither the fans nor the administration support fascism, on the contrary we have done many actions helping the refugee children in Greece. We later broke that player's (Giorgos Katidis) contract, threatened him many times and now he's at the Finnish 3rd division. Wish him much failure.

My problem with politics and football is that the main demographic is working class men spending their money to watch their team play and to be preached to by a bunch of multi millionaires. By all means have political views outside of football.
Oh yes the “celebrities aren’t allowed to be political” debate. I.e. “I don’t agree with their politics and I wish they would stop”. I’m sure if their views were more in line with “working class men” you wouldn’t have an issue with it

The chant ‘za dom spremni’ isn’t facist. Its true that the fascists abused this chant but his roots you can find back till the 16th century. It means that you are ready for your home country and there is nothing against other people or cultures
While I don't have a clue with this particular scenario, words and symbols often get associated with these sorts of regimes, so for example, führer is not an inherently bad word (and German doesn't really have a replacement) but still has Nazi connotations and the swastika was a symbol of peace for a long time but is now very taboo. That may well not apply to this particular phrase but I'm guessing some people think it does orherwise their wouldn't be a story

It's funny how many Brazilian black players affiliate themselves with right-wing politics. Actually it's rather tragic and naive.
