I loved those Memorex cassette tapes from the 90s. I only had one and I recorded some of my original songs on it and it still plays perfectly; the other day I found a 4-pack NOS of those at a great price and didn't think twice to buy them, and yup, they still record great! Thanks for the memories 🥰
I love those Maxell URs from the 80s too (the first one you showed). They retain a lot of the source high end for a Type I. Hell, I love each of the first three Maxells you showed.
Yes there was something special about the UdXLII's That blue hub was the give away. To me they had as much dynamics as a good metal tape and were better than the newer XLII's by far. They looked better and played better.
Maxell udXL II, TDK SAX and SA, BASF Chrome Wanted to write before I watched to see what you liked. Tower Records used to sell a 5 pack of TDK SA 90 (with a 15 count plastic cassette holder) for a good price back in the day. But when I had the dough it was the UDXLII's--hands down! Oh yeah--Memorex alwas jammed on me (and that was the good chrome memorex in the blue case) and I quite buying them.
I always judged the tapes by the screws on them. The cheaper ones don’t have screws. The screws helps me to take it apart for repairs. By the way, yeah Billy Joel!
Thats a very good judgment point honestly! The screws are the difference between a tape being savable or a throw away. Sure, you can crack open a glued shell but its never the same after that. And yes! I am a die hard Billy Joel fan! Thank you for watching and for leaving a comment! Rock on man!
I really like the squared off design as well. But if you're going for the absolute best in fidelity, the the type 2 is worth the expense. TDK SA-X truly is the ultimate in recording
How could people find out the name of the song and the artist after they record an AM radio or an FM radio using a blank audio tape cassette? Not by entering the Shazam app and pressing that thing, because there was no Shazam app.
