Hey Bateman family - I've been checking youtube since I ran in to you at Grace Lake to see if you ever did make it up Cloud Peak. Congratulations!!! Thanks for the cameo around 5:15... Great video... I'm going to use it to help plan our CP summit attempt next summer, just like I did with your Bomber video :) Maybe we'll run in to each other again in the Bighorns sometime.
Hi and thanks for this excellent video of Cloud Peak. I read a lot of Craig Johnson's Walt Longmire series and this was just what I needed to help understand his description in a passage from "Hell Is Empty" when he is tracking an escaped convict in a snowstorm. In one segment of your clip, I saw exactly the part of the ridge he describes as 'sloping down on the left with a sheer drop off to the right'...very cool! Thanks! BTW, your family is lovely, and I hope you all had a great time together :0)
Hey guys, great video! I've done the hike using 3 different routes and it never gets old. I know all the areas you filmed like the back of my hand and it made me smile seeing other people enjoying them like I do!
Stumbled across your channel planning our summer hiking trips 😁, the Big Horns look amazing! Absolutely gorgeous shots on the trail! Hopefully we can still make it out there this summer 🤞🏼. Beautiful video and nice channel. Way to get out and about with the family, nothing better than that!
For anyone concerned by the "bear" comments, bears typically aren't found above 10,000 to 11,000 feet in elevation. My crew backpacked the area and climbed Cloud Peak in August 2016. Also, the scat did not have the appearance of bear scat. More than likely it was marmot scat, as my crew and I saw several marmots at the 10,000+ feet elevation levels. I just don't want anyone to get the wrong idea of the area (though, you should always be aware and practice bear awareness).
Nice work! Great family outing...
I love people with resilient minds and that's what your family is. Thumbs Up
