I had been to this place two years ago, unfortunately it was in the late evening It was dark hence I couldn't see such a wonderful village, we had gone to see the Halloween pumpkin exhibition. Reached there around 7 pm and returned by 9 pm. Regret not visiting during day time. Very beautiful place bordering USA.
I remember visiting here in the very early 70s. I'd just had my legs removed from casts, having broken them skiing, and really struggled up the stairs to the lumber room!
Upper Canada Village is a heritage park in Ontario depicting life in the early 19th century. It's open to the public daily. It's a lovely and interesting place to visit especially with children. It shows, bread making, cheese making as I recall, basically daily life at that time.
I live about 1/2 hour east of there. Well worth your time seeing it ,just like they lived late 1800 s ,think it costs about 22 dollars for the day per person.,Morrisburg Ontario
Sturbridge Village, in the the Town of Sturbridge, Massachusetts is just like this, and is patterned after the mid 1800's. Very educational and beautiful place to visit.
The village in Europe is very peaceful and cheerful and less stress to live. I don't like Asian village but I like Japanese village the people and their life style. Singapore is a overstressed country but here there is no more villages it becomes a city.

LOL!! Ancient? I don't know if we can call Victorian era "ancient". And don't forget that 18th century N.America would be largely settled by Europeans mostly the Brits. This is a historic recreation site. It's where you go to learn about life during that time. You don't have one or two where you live?
The Mennonite still are very traditional in every aspect of their live, riding on horses pulled carriage and house without electricity. I saw a few at the farmers market in Waterloo, Ontario . There are a large number of them around Ontario, mostly farmers
