It's probably the battery, it looks swollen. Also if these batteries aren't charged in some time and kept in the device they are deeply discharged, basically killing them. That's the reason why most PSP batteries won't work anymore.
Great video as always Speedy! I admire your electronics mechanical knowledge so much! Reminds me of my grandpa, he was really handy like that. I cheered when that little light went on! Then was so bummed that it didnt stay on after you put it back together. And you are NOT crazy, it did stay on longer before you put it back together. I hope you are able to figure it out and get it working again. Best of luck to you on this noble quest!
As @voultar always says in his soldering videos... Practice, practice, practice! Ask @voultar if he can help with it. You might want to try this method... 1. Use 90% Isopropyl to clean the area in question with the broken lead, and use a small fiberglass wand brush to remove some of the protective layer of the PCB lead. Be very gentle to only expose the copper leads in the area needed. 2. Using a small drop of No Clean Flux to prep the area, tin the area in question with a small amount of solder from the pretinned iron until you have a base to tack the component into. 3. Using the iron, heat the pretinned base and gentle settle the component into it's spaces. If the lead path is too far damaged, try using fine guage lead wire to create a new tacking point. Be careful not to jump the leads. Clean up and residual residue with 90% Isopropyl and a soft toothbrush.
Speedy Diver. What you can try is find that pad that broke and find the trace and scrape a little of the green off until you see copper Then solder your ground pin. I like buying broken stuff and fixing it too. I bought a broken timer and took it apart, turns out all that was wrong is a plastic part was bent I melted it back where it should be and timer is fixed. Another thing is a fan I bought that had leaky batteries. I took it apart and cleaned everything out, adjusted a few things and I now have a working fan. I have this salt gun, the bug a salt, I just need one part and it's fixed but BAS won't send the part.
Tell them to send you the part or you will sue them and make complete ownership of the company as one of the conditions of the lawsuit should you have convincing enough lawyers that can rip them to shreds like a cat with newspapers.
This was a first time in a very long time I have watched one of your videos haven't had time in the past couple months to watch but I'm very impressed and I will keep on watching stay subscribed keep the bell on and all the other stuff keep on making the great videos speedy
I hope it works for you!Thank you once again for another amazing entertaining video.I cant wait untill gamestop dumpster dive night #1000!What an amazing milestone!Thank you for all of the video's!
That 3DS may have water damage. The water damage indicator under the battery has turned pink. If there was no water damage, the indicator would be white with tiny pink dots.
Take case apart again and see if it charges without case on. If it does then its because the case isn't flush and the battery doesn't have a full connection which means you need to sort out your bodge jib soldering so that the case can close fully
I think that just the battery is bad. So I think it will probably work if you replace the battery or get that battery back to work. Because the problem can be that the battery is too far discharged and you can have the same kind of problem with some phones. But there can be a little trick to get that battery back to work! You can try to connect that battery to a different power source with the + and - (DON"T REVERSE IT! It can be dangerous!) but not to much voltage! So I hope I can help you with that info
I agree add a jumper wire an that should fix it the battery looked good no bulging..double ck.just make sure that none of ur solder is touching the other solder on those points or bridging that will cause it not to work. But I love ur videos man keep it up an good job on this video u make it easy for a person who has never worked on a 3ds to follow what ur doing bro.
I have a dsi that does the same thing, it is thought at least in my case that the fuse component has failed so you can research and start there. I have not proceeded due to time I dont have currently to look closer but it could be the broken trace if you can follow it you may be able to clean the coating off the trace and solder a jumper wire but it's not the easiest I have done this in the past and it will work but make sure you connect to the correct trace line or bad things will happen lol
Hopefully you can get that 3DS up and running again. If not I'll take it for parts as I am going into the mobile gaming device repair. Also those screw on the Board are JIS "Japanes Industrial Screws" which means a phillips head will not work you'll need a JIS #00 to get them out
They very likely blew a fuse when they messed up the charging port. All it would have taken is crossing one of the connectors in the broken port. I would check the continuity on the fuses first, then you'll know if it's just the fuses or something else.
It could be a bad regulator that is causing the system to shut off that’s what ide think For the future get yourself some goot wick desoldering braid for desoldering surface mount components and for the ground tab, scrape away some solder resist on the pcb next to the tab( the green stuff) and solder the tab to it
Also that maybe why port was broken, whoever had was probably pissed the thing wouldn't charge and kept slamming the cable in and out and broke it! Just a theory.
I believe the charging port might have came loose or broke the solder points cause of all the pressure put on it when u put it back together cause it's was crooked. It did work till u put it back together. If I was u I would try to resolder it the right way. Doesn't hurt to try again.
I had a gameboy advance micro that did the same thing. When the charger plugged in,the light would come in and then go off a few seconds later. I ordered a replacement battery and that fixed that issue.
Hey speedy I believe the DS and 3DS batteries are actually the same so I know you have a working DS if you pull that out and try it in the 3DS you may be able to find out whether it is just the battery or if there some other problem with it
She is not worth it, Dan The Man. You can do better than her if she only lives to hurt people in your life. Also, you are aware that this is a video about trying to repair a broken Nintendo 3DS, and not about matters if human hearts, right?
Sometimes when you Have a problem with Electronics if they don’t Make connection Charging up it could Be a hair line break In the breadboard. It’s so really thin It’s really hard to pinpoint where it is.
Try charging it a bit before you try and turn it on lol. The battery could be completely dead. I really don't get how people don't think to do this thinking it's just going to automatically go on after fixing it lol
Not sure if this helps much but I have a similar issue with my 3ds where the red LED light will turn on for a second but then not charge anything so what I did was bought a separate charger that actually charges the battery itself outside of the system and would put it back in and take it back out whenever I needed to charge it
I would take the battery out and get a multimeter on the battery connection inside the ds and see if you are getting the right voltage I would also do the same on the charging port just to make sure it's grounding properly
Speedy I am a big fan just letting you know that some of the Xbox 360 games that you find and have the circle line is called a laser burn but they can still work in a Xbox one if they are games that can play on a Xbox one and a 360
He should have a separate channel for this stuff called the speedy fixer
Yeah
Yes you should make a new channel like speedy fixer
Speedy fixer who isn't too speedy and waffles on and on lol
I was going to comment that🤣
Yeah
Loose solder pads are fixable or at least work around able. Jumper wires help!
Try a charged battery in the device.
It's probably the battery, it looks swollen. Also if these batteries aren't charged in some time and kept in the device they are deeply discharged, basically killing them. That's the reason why most PSP batteries won't work anymore.
Yea
Why don't you order a new board with everything on it including the card slots
Yeah
May as well buy a new DS at that point.
Ooh, with a case, and screen, and stylus
neo oofer I agree
He looks in the new charging port: ITS IN THERE!
Rip 3ds
Speedy comes in
Smashes 3ds
it works
OOF

You can most likely solder a wire from the pin where the missing pad is to some point on the board and that should do it
yes I have been waiting for this and speedy diver keep up the great work!
U could probably resolder that solder point on the corner, replace the battery, and buy a new circuit board.
Yoo honestly you are the best underestimated youtuber i have ever seen in my entire life!!!!

I think its where the circuit board is part broke from that little piece that was broke. Don't give up speedy! :) you'll get the 3ds fixed!
Either 2 ways to maybe fix it
1: wait for a little while to charge
2: replace the battery

13:34 some 3ds'(like mine) you have to charge them at an angle for them to continue charging
Hello speedy I've been watching you vids since like 300

Or maybe its fully charged? Usually when any ds is fully charged the led light goes out.
They very likely blew a fuse when they messed up the charging port. All it would have taken is crossing one of the connectors in the broken port. I would check the continuity on the fuses first, then you'll know if it's just the fuses or something else.
try disconnecting the screen and see if the light stays on with the screen unplugged. if so it could mean a bad screen. also try replacing the battery
Give a thumbs up for Speedy!👍
Speedy what you need to do is completely take it apart and clean the wifi chip
Hey speedydiver been here since the beginning, keep up the great vids

Try charging the battery in a different 3ds and putting it in as a test to check the screens

The problem is most likely the battery get a new one and if that doesn’t work replace the board

Try getting a new battery for it. That charger light problem might be the result of a dead battery (battery that is at the end of its life)
My Wii u battery died, it did the same thing, light would come on,then go out.Orderd battery, replace works great! Think that may be the problem.
If you like fixing things can you fix my broken heart
Dan The Man awe! Everything gonna be okay man.. keep your head up bro 💯
You brake up again

You should try to clean the contacts of the battery, My DS lite had a charging problem and I cleaned the contacts of the battery and it worked fine.
Sometimes when you

Be a hair line break
In the breadboard.
It’s so really thin
It’s really hard to pinpoint where it is.
That's a big bummer ☹️
Awesome video
Can you show how to install a screen replacement for 3ds or 3ds xl if you do another one of these
Try charging it a bit before you try and turn it on lol. The battery could be completely dead. I really don't get how people don't think to do this thinking it's just going to automatically go on after fixing it lol
So after u unscrew it. Is there a spot where u can put like a little storage or SD card inside the back of the 3ds?
Keep it up speedy
Try to folow the dark stripe on the board and where it ends just connect it with wire.
It could be a softmodded 3ds with 9strap. If so you need an SD card with a special file
You know they have electric solder suckers right that would be a whole lot faster
Did you end up adding a jumper wire fix that broke connection ?
dude we got a simullar problem with our dsi the things the pins might be rly tinny bent so just put some paper to hold baterry
The ribbin cable in the top lcd is bad get a new top screen or push it in a little bit
Not sure if this helps much but I have a similar issue with my 3ds where the red LED light will turn on for a second but then not charge anything so what I did was bought a separate charger that actually charges the battery itself outside of the system and would put it back in and take it back out whenever I needed to charge it

I would take the battery out and get a multimeter on the battery connection inside the ds and see if you are getting the right voltage I would also do the same on the charging port just to make sure it's grounding properly
you can use nail polish remover to get rid pf that marker stuff. that how i fixed my leapfrog explorer.
put a charged Battery into the Nintendo 3DS and see if it turns on, if yes, the Battery is bad.
can you tell us what the soldering suckers is
I love ur videos sw much carry on bro
Can you fix my marriage? No, I didn't think so
Try a battery from another 3ds if you have one and see if that is the problem before buying a whole new one
You can try taking out the battery and charging it alone to find out if it works
