  • Offered for sale is this incredibly well preserved Lincoln Mark VIII, a final generation 1997 model in beautiful Toreador Red over Dove Gray leather. This 1-Owner Naples vehicle is in remarkable cosmetic and mechanical condition, and has a very low 68K miles on the odometer. This stylish coupe is powered by a Ford Intech 32-valve V8 putting out 280HP, and mated to a smooth shifting four speed automatic. The interior features expanses of rich leather in excellent condition, and has dual power seats, power windows, cruise control, power steering column, AM/FM/Cassette/CD Changer by JBL, Automatic HID headlamps, trip computer and status monitor, and much more. Fresh Michelins ride the factory alloy rims, and the brakes are in excellent shape. Cold AC and powerful heat. In every way, this car is an absolute time machine.

    What a gorgeous coupe. It's hard to believe we went from those to today's lame minivan-looking SUVs. I guess practicality is all that matters these days.

    The Lincoln Mark VIIIs were a honey of a car. Especially the version with the H ID headlights and the neon tail lights like this one. I’m not much of a fan of two-door cars but this is one I would’ve taken gladly.

      The Mark-series LSC was Lincoln’s first Muscle Coupé. would’ve been cool if they offered them with a 6-speed manual gearbox, and a supercharger and a slightly tighter suspension

    In 1997 I purchased a 1996 Mark VIII. Absolutely Wonderful car. LSC, 10 disc CD player, Moonroof, telephone in the console and the same directional wheels. Beautiful dark red with tan interior. Liked the car so much, I had sold the red one a few years before. Found a medium Wedgwood blue with bone (very light grey) interior withe the chrome directional wheels. Prettier than the first one. Sadly the second one was stolen and never recovered. Very well built cars.

    I gotta say. As a long time fan. I enjoy your videos better when you’re at Phils. You’re so serious in this video. No joking around. No Lincoln or designer history with the car. No weather report. No goats, birds, or cats.

    I purchased my latest 1998 Mark VIII LSC from Copart for $350. 64,464 miles. Previously disconnected air shocks with the red springs replacements. A tree branch had cracked the moonroof and compressed the top near the B pillar. All repaired for $600. I am happy when insurance companies don't want to repair vehicles!

    I bought one new in 97 Mark VIII LSC - White with black interior. I was 34 when I bought this. Out of the MANY cars over the decades. This Lincoln was hands down my favorite luxury ride. Technology well beyond its time, fitted with a built-in, portable phone, tucked away in the center arm cubby. At the time, a phone this small and portable was something out of the ordinary. The tail-light to tail-light neon strip across the trunk was intense and just gorgeous. The luxury, stellar...absolutely beautiful leather and finishes. The downside was the weight of the car vs the engine output. The 5.0L GT engine didn't have the same impact in such a heavy car. Not that it was slow..it just wasn't as fast as I would have liked, being used to Corvettes. I would love to have another Mark VIII LSC. It would be an instant purchase.

    I was born in 1992. I missed all the damn fun. Plymouth checked out, pontiac checked out, mercury left, Chevrolet discontinued the impala, and chrysler sold out to fiat. Lifes been great 😒 and what's crazy is that all the features this car offered now come standard on cars today. So this car was the future in the late 90s. I wish I could have a wiff of it's new car smell when it first came out. Infact lol, the new car smell actually smelled better back then lol.

That one looks in phenomenal shape. Those HID headlamps were game-changing for the day and an option I paid dearly for. If you have poor night vision they are worth every expensive penny.

      BTW if you want the mythical *hot rod Lincoln* do to your Mark VIII what I did to mine. Take it to Dennis Reinhart at Reinhart Automotive in Green Cove Springs. He probably knows more about Lincolns of that era than any man alive. Don't believe me? Read the Google reviews for his shop. I had Dennis perform wizardry in quite a few areas on my car. To save you money I'll tell you the single best bang for your buck: The rear differential. If you don't have to travel on the Interstate very often have him install a 4.10 locking diff. You'll be a terror at every traffic light. He'll re-calibrate your speedometer correctly and re-set the computer too. Unlike other places you can GET to work on your car, he's done it a hundred times before and he'll do the job correctly and quickly. I NEVER had a check engine light or a single trouble code thrown when he did my upgrades. The man is a gift from the Lincoln gods.

Im a chevy guy but when I was 15 I thought this would be the kind of car that I'd be driving my kids to school in my 30's. I still want one because its the end of an era really.

    No one ever mentions the puddle lamps and "Theater Lighting" in this vehicle. Puddle lamps were lights under the outside mirrors that shown down on the ground when you unlocked the doors with the key fob. The '97 and '98 had recessed interior lighting behind buttons and door handles, casting a green glow behind them. It was very nice looking even in the dark.
    Changing oil on these is a bitch though. The long black hole you had to lose your arm in to get to the oil filter was a thing of terror :)
    My wife had a '96 and '98, both in LSC trim.

    I had a '93 Mark viii. Performance and comfort was great. '93s had electrical problems, air bag gave out too soon and the alarm would go off for no determinable reason, and the headlights were not bright enough. These problems were resolved in later editions. I got surprisingly good mileage for such a car. Premium fuel was recommended but it would run just fine on 87 octane unless you wanted to blast away from stop lights - and my wife did. So much torque it would separate the cord from the rubber. Well, we enjoyed the blazes out of it while we had it. Traded it and got a really good deal. No, I don't want it back but I enjoyed it a lot. Nice to see one so well kept. If I were a collector...Oh, wait, I'd get a 1963 F-100 uni body truck. I loved the old flat head and the Y block V8 that replaced it. I could take 'em apart and put them back together again, back in the days when you could actually do maintenance on cars and trucks. Alas...

    • @TheOzthewiz
      @TheOzthewiz 4 роки тому

      Yeah, and "back in the day" you had a model T compared to trucks of today. That '63 F-100 needs to be left back in the caveman days! I once dreamed of owning a "mini-bird" but was too young in '55, 30 years later I got the itch and found a grade "4" '55. By the time I was able to bring it up to "strong" grade 3, I had about $30K and a year of work into it. The car was a ABSOLUTE head turner and was a knockout at the local street rod meets, BUT I hated driving the thing! It rode like a truck, it steered like a truck and it braked like a truck. In the late '80s, a POS Ford EXP could run circles around that "bird with its honking 292ci "Y" block. The car had NO ventilation system, the air-cooled Fordomatic burned your right foot in hot weather traffic, just MISERABLE to drive PERIOD! It was a car you parked in your DRIVEWAY for folks to gawk at. Sure, it was simple to work on, i was able to rewire the entire car WITHOUT a single schematic and overhaul the carburetor with a screw driver and a box end wrench. That's the ONLY positive of owning a vehicle from "back in the day"!!

      +WALTERBROADDUS : I'm not saying it isn't a nice car. I have had both of them. Personally, I had more problems with the VIII than the VII. I also found the VII to have finer build quality. Owned both from new. That said, for cars in this price range (from new ) they are little more than overought Thunderbirds. Say what you will about GM, Eldorado did not share it's platform with lesser models. I'm speaking of the 10th generation by the way. Lastly, the Mark VIII styling in my opinion looks far more dated today than the Eldorado 's. So in conclusion, Eldorado still is the king of American personal luxury cars and will be remembered as such. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for your response.

    My sister asked me to buy a car for her with the insurance money from a crashed pickup.
    I found this exact car low miles one owner, except it was the 96 with the decked out spare tire box.
    Thing looked like it was
    Over the top for sure.
    I could not believe how good it drove and the leather was the best i have ever seen.
    Air bag suspension 32 valve 4.6 if you remember the intro for these cars it showed a black one that lowered at a higher speed flying under a low metal rail.
    If i get a chance i may buy it back.
    The car has been let go
    And really needs a clean up and new tires.

    ❤️ that car, drove my 98 to the ground, then my son ran into the ground. I even rocked the RWD through MN winter. My only complaints was the air ride failures and poor leather durability.

      +WALTERBROADDUS : Eldorado rated at 300 horsepower. Had both. The Cadillac was faster. Wrong wheel drive or not. The Eldorado's interior was much nicer also.

      @@lancedukel3436 I miss the Eldo. But the Northstar..... Hmmmm.

    • @lancedukel3436
      @lancedukel3436 6 років тому +1

      +WALTERBROADDUS : Yes true. Typically GM. Build an efficient 4.6 litre V-8 that puts out decent power and then cheap out on assembly. Those fine thread head bolts used were a mistake from the get go. That said I think the problems with the Northstar have been overstated. Many went past 200, 000 miles with relatively little issue. Do some blow head gaskets? Sure. As do many cars not maintained. Again I'm not saying that the Northstar is better than Lincoln's 32 valve Intech. Both had good points and bad. The Mark VIII's weak spot to me was the transmission. While the Northstar was pulling head bolts and burning up coolant, the Intech was blowing up transmissions. My previous comments about particularly the Eldorado were purely related to aesthetics. While the last gen Mark had more modern lamps, the Eldo's sharp body lines are still being used by Cadillac's Art & Science design theme (like it or not) today. Finally the Mark's overhang, front and rear gave the car to me, a ponderous feel on twisty roads. The Eldorado's handling was much crisper and responsive. To conclude, nothing comparible made by the big three is offered today. To get a large, luxurious relatively fast coupe your looking at Bentley or Rolls. So even with maintenance cost , these cars are a bargain. Buy the cleanest one with the lowest miles or expertly maintained. If you can find one lol! Cheers.
