I love these kits, when I built as a kid I literally built dozens of them, 454SS, and even made extended cabs with the snapfast kit. I need to get some again, just not at ebay prices lol! Beautiful build Louie, takes me back to 1992 all over again.
The model came out fantastic, like the color. I finished up your videos today. What a wealth of information you put out there for us. You’ve encouraged me to get back into building models, thank of very much. The one thing I like about your videos, you own up to your oops. Thanks for sharing, can’t wait for the next one.
I remember when I bought my first AMT kit in 1993 it was a choice between this and the Ford F-150 shortbox, and I went with the Ford. You're right about the box art; although I have a lot of AMT kits from this era and still have some of the boxes, they weren't very convincing. I got an AMT catalogue in 1995 and that was even worse, with many of the kits looking toy-like and awful and some were even built without windshields! The color you've chosen and the billet grille take me right back to the 1990s and the custom trucks in "Truckin'" magazine.
Amt advertising during this era was horrendous. I was a driving age teen during this time and remember all the custom trucks too. Thank you 😊 Happy Modeling
Absolutely amazing job on that custom CK 1500 pickup Louie! Love that purple, those GM rally wheels, that custom grille and decal on the tailgate! Of that generation of OBS GM pickup, I like the 1995-1998 the best because it had the better looking interior and dash! Those “pod” instrument clusters on those 88-1994 pickups don’t look appealing to me.
I am really enjoying this blast from the past/history lesson! I remember seeing those markings on the back of the decal sheet, but didn't puzzle out it was a date code! I date the bicycles I build at work for a number of reasons. Recently I was looking for that aftermarket underdash gauge recently for a Yenko Nova. Acquiring one of these kits now was not an inexpensive proposition. Glad to see one being opened and built. And you are sharing it with the modeling community community for our enjoyment as well. I am only halfway through the video, but I am sure the final build will be gorgeous; your builds always are. Cheers Jason P.S. ended up getting the gauge pack out of Round 2's recently reissued '69 Barracuda. A nice kit worth picking up in its own right.
Thank you!! I’m glad you’re enjoying the video!! I do not buy kit to “Hoard” them. I buy to build. Even an expensive one. Sitting on the shelf unbuilt defeats the purpose. I appreciate your kind words. Thank you again and Happy Modeling
I'm thinking the steering wheel was turned like that on the box art truck to match the front wheels being turned. Love that Purplelicious color. Looks awesome with that phantom grille.
I have this truck in the kit that came with the 55 pick up and the 80s elcamino ss. I wish AMT would bring back those kits with 3 kits in side. I think some had 5 kits as well.
I can't tell you how many times I've built all the varations of the GMT 400 Silverado from AMT. They had the regular cab with long bed, short bed, and stepside bed. Then they did snap versions of the extended cab with long bed and dually bed. I mixed and matched them all by lengthening or shortening the chassis to get the configuration I wanted. I wish they'd bring a full detail kit back out instead of the overpriced, disassembled toy they have out now.
Great build…as is the norm! I am wondering what brand is your rotating spray stand, mine looks the same but your hardware looks way beefier than mine… lol thanks again
On my 90 step side kit I cut my bed cover and hinged it want find one to do a slammed truck did my as a 4wd no ifs it’s a custom dana 44 and lifted on 38s from 83gmc kit
Amazing !!!! 🙂 Very Sweet looking truck !!!! 👍
Great looking purple custom sportside pickup. Excellent job👍
Nicely done! I always thought this was the best era of GM trucks.
Looks great Louie.
What a really clean build, good looking truck! Awesome video and thanks for sharing! 👊
Thank you!! Happy Modeling
That colour is gorgeous.

Very nice build color fit the time the truck came from the custom grill is a nice touch.

Maybe you could suggest this one to Round 2?
Right on
Great job Louie looks fantastic! Thanks for the review! 😎👍🏻
I agree with you on the box Art when ERTL took over they Didn't put much thought in it. Very Nice Job putting it Together.
For sure a neat build. Very clean and brings back memories. Another great build thanks.
I love that purple, I have that color, haven't decided what to use it on yet. Turned out nice, great job!
Make sure when you use it, to warm the can in hot water. Makes it flow better. Happy Modeling
Excellent build. Your videos never get old
That is truly a great compliment. Thank you. 😊

Right after I posted this video, I found that three pack kit in my vault. I had forgotten I had it
@@TheAutisticModeler keep up the vault builds those are awesome.

It’s a Tamiya kind. I bought it at Hobby lobby. Maybe because it has lots of paint on it? Thanks for watching
