Bottom end rot, aka blossom end rot isn’t from water sitting or splashing or mold. It is a nutrient deficiency where calcium either is not available to the plant or there is an issue with that plants ability to uptake the available calcium. There are many ways to fix the issue, if you raise chickens, save your eggshells, dry them in the oven or microwave and crush to a fine powder in a coffee grinder or blender. Side dress existing plants, and next year add a generous handful to your planting hole along with your other amendments.
Beautiful place and awesome garden! Grow, grow, grow!

First off to reduce the problem of the earth getting on the tomato leaves and causing those problems; suggest you put down some mulch on the soil. It helps retain moisture, adds fertility among other things.

Your garden looks really good but I'm sure you know that if you keep all the bottom leaves broken off up a good way's and don't let the water bounce up onto the leaves you won't have that problem. Considering the amount of tomato plants you have it would probably be easier for you to just get drip irrigation and that way you can just turn the water on for a little while and not have to stand out there in the heat watering everything. Wow, you also did really good with your potatoes. Hopefully that's a root cellar your keeping them in. I learned a secret from one really good gardener that's gardened for years and he said to be able to keep your potatoes much longer that they don't need to be all on top of one another touching. That's how they start to rot. He developed a system where he built shelves where he could put large trays on each shelf that could be pulled in and out and laid out all the potatoes where the potatoes are spread out just not letting one touch another. It will keep them from developing rot spots on them. Or even if you can spread them all out in low boxes where their not touching each other. They'll last longer. Just a little bit I've learned along the way. Maybe it will help you as well. Best of luck.

Drip lines will save tons of time, waste, and damage. Shad material will help with burn issues as I’m sure you’er aware.

Thank you for sharing. Your tomatoes look a lot better this year - a drip-line will be ideal if you have a creek/stream handy. Question for you please - Can you please let me know how you find the vw caddy you bought earlier this year? I've read mixed reviews about it. We have an orchard and i need something smaller to make restaurant drop-offs ( truck is too big)... will you recommend it?

Christo - the Caddy is great for hauling things however it doesn't love the curves of the Italian roads. However the 4 wheel drive is great!
