Weightlifting protects against the inevitable strain and wear-and-tear that come from playing the bass. It stimulates growth of fast-twitch muscle fibers, which is a plus for reaction time, playing quickly, etc. It also reduces stress, boosts cognitive performance, and protects against cognitive decline.
