    Hi Jason.
    Nice to be tucked up in a tent when the weather is like that. it will be hard to go back to ration packs after those steaks . The weather might not have been the best, but that is a good excuse to make a return visit . An enjoyable watch. Take care

      @RamblingOn  4 місяці тому +14

      @cahillp3 I'd rather play it safe, the very next day a man fell and died on Brandon which is only down the road. I was supposed to stay down for a second night and guess where I was heading... Brandon. I drove down there that morning, I couldn't see the mountain because of the cloud cover and because of the terrible conditions the night before I made a decision to head home. Kicking myself all the way home for not going ahead with it. Later that day, I heard that a man had fallen, his body was retrieved the next day.
      I reckon I was lucky that day, maybe someone was watching out for me

      Regular hikers will all tell you, sometimes there is just a feeling that you shouldnt chance it. Could be the incoming weather, wind strength, bad visuality but usually its just a hunch, instinct and usually its right. Its best to never find out what might have happened and just be safe. The mountains arent going anywhere, there will be other hikes.

    Serious camp Jason! You were right not to summit if you didn't feel safe, always the best decision, the mountains aren't going anywhere. Love them rare steaks, that's a real man's dinner 😆
    Boost bars are gorgeous, recent convert to them.
    I did a quick trip over to Connemara for a coastal camp after work Friday night. Windy and struggled to get enough shelter, but tg the lanshan held her ground. Worst of camping is it always goes by too quick, but sure look what can you do.
    As always stay safe and thanks for sharing.

      @pipandbenji no regrets on this one, I'll be back to do a proper hike in that area. It just wasn't safe and I'm cool with that. I might have been a bit generous with the steak when I saidmedium rare, practically raw 😄
      Fair play on the camp, I'd live to do a proper coastal camp like that. The lanshan is serving you well. They always go too fast which is why I'm actually looking forward to the winter for the longer nights. I'm hoping to take the new tent out on the next camp 🤞

    Another great adventure! Those steaks made me very hungry lol. I have sold my winter tent the Fallraven Abisko lite 1; at 62 years old this great tent always held up to winter weather very well but too small and flappy for me. In around four weeks gonna order the KUIU Storm Star 2p tent, a tried and tested over the years. This will give me more room and an absolute bombshell, and a lot less flappy. What is great it is a lot cheaper than the Hilleberg Soulo and a lot more room for those long nights. Added to this, it is made in the USA, and all materials are sourced in USA. So a tent built to a high standard. Keep these amazing video adventures coming.

    Hi from Cork, love the videos man. I have a question that maybe you will see and answer, but what do you do about condensation in the tent?

    • @RamblingOn
      @RamblingOn  2 місяці тому

      Hey Niall, condensation can only ever be managed. Ventilation is the best thing to consider when trying to minimise condensation. You need to have good airlfow inside your tent. Finding a balance between airflow and comfort is important, in the colder conditions you will want to retain as much heat as possible so restricting airflow will help but will also increase condensation. Long story short try to find that balance, ventilation is king. I sometimes use a dish cloth that is ultra absorbent. They are great for wiping down the inside and outside of the tent before you pack it away. Generally I don't worry about condensation too much if I'm only out for one night, I'll use the vent's in the tent to manage it and that usually is good enough. For multi days it would be more of a concern. That wasn't a very short answer but I hope it made sense 😄 here is a link I found to the cloths I use:

    Typical UK weather! That's when you know what a good tent is!

      I reckon our west coast Irish weather is a harsher test for any tent. Purely because we get the brunt of what the weather coming in over the Atlantic Ocean has to throw at us.

    Lol, great crack Jason, is this the summer time, cause it weren't looking too sexy going up or coming down...!!!🤔😄 Steak looked well nice, more blue that rare, just cut its horns off & wipe its arse...!!!🤣 Dollop of Horseradish Sauce on that would have been banging...!✔️💯👍 Nest wishes, keep up the good stuff...🙏👊

      Ireland has just skipped the summer, we may just forget about that season from now on 😄 The steaks were definitely a good choice, I might do some more cooking while I'm out
