The whole "Reich" thing has nothing to do with Fascism nor Nazism. Reich just means like kingdom/empire in German, and like the war strategy the Galactic Empire itself is based off of Prussia, which to your credit was certainly German. Rudolf might have been White-supremacist and Eugenicist and agreed with Hitler on alot, but he was no fascist, instead he (obviously) was a Monarchist and established a monarchy. Thus the show is firmly monarchism VS democratic republicanism, which ofc can still be framed as Authoritarianism VS Libertarianism.
I think in most cases "reich" just means "realm/state." Even in modern day Germany, their legislature is called the Reichstag. It's really an innocuous word
rudolf was a model fascist he had the whole return to tradition reinisance thing going on a deep hatred for democratic institutions racism social darwinism aesotericism based on the fact their capital was named odin as well as making the nation and the people one and the same thing and being a authocrat of the highest order. he was a fascist but fascism often burns out after a while and just desolves or devolves into reglair authoritairianism monarchy in this case. yang is definelty a libertiarian tho not in the uniquely american way of using that word as he was in fafour of wellfare statism which the american radian ideology despises.

I just love how in 90 percent of the action scenes involving ground troops they forget to bring their guns. But instead choose to hack at each other with axes.
its explained that the lazer guns are not efective against the armor that they had, that is why the dont bring the guns to hand to hand combat, and why they have specific forces trained to do ground assaults, like the Rosenritter.
@@harryjames8064 I was trying to find it for you, but i couldn't. Maybe it was in the Gaidens or the Novels. The reason why they sometimes take cover is because the hinge and flexible parts of the armors are still a weak point, but you can see several times that the rest of the armor deflect the lasers. There is a second reason also why they still use the hand to hand combat, and that is because the Zephyr particles strategy its an easy response to a heavy gunman attack.
The Galactic empire developed seffle (I may be wrong) particles that make gun fire deadly for everyone. Lasers would detonate the gas killing everyone, effectively neutralising guns and making hand to hand more effective.
@@MC-py9io They explain it in the books, as I recall, around book 2 when Mittermeier and Reuenthal engage that one big caveman-esque Admiral, Ovlesser, on Rentenburg Fortress.
A lot of people saying the show is Pro autocracy or Pro democracy, but it's hard to put my spicy take into words, but at best I think the show is pro responsibility as in the people should take responsibility for their government. While the show is worst democracy vs best autocracy with Reinhard aligning more with the show's representation of that, while for me Yang sticks out, cause he is a complex character almost like the key to what the show is actually trying to say, like yeah its easy to see Yang as democracy counter to Reinhard autocracy but I think there is more to it. The final season ending theme shows Julian imo gaining knowledge passed down from the yang gang and few imperials, which in my mind represents the future that Yang was truly fighting for, a future where the people think critically based on everything around them which is what Yang was always teaching/telling Julian when talking about deep world building geopolitics which ultimately turns into a critical thinking public taking responsibility and not choosing the easy way out of putting all responsibility on one autocratic leader because that's how you ultimately get bamboozled, same applies for democracy cause Yang is always depicting a nation doesn't matter as long as the rights of the people are preserved however he atleast prefers democracy, because in a democracy when the people don't take responsibility in their voting privilege's they give more and more power to their government which starts stripping away rights to maintain their power or steep corruption ultimately the less responsible the people are the more democracy turns into autocracy and autocracy ends when people say enough is enough and rise up against their autocratic leader and take responsibility for their nation, and that responsibility taken back by the people can be interpreted as democracy a government by the people. I tried my best putting what I think into word but yeah like neither side is wrong but the "safer" side will always remain democracy when people take responsibility, because the easy way out isn't always the right way and as the show depicts both forms of government can become corrupted but democracy becomes corrupted due to lack of responsibility while autocracy can become corrupted just from the one man in power or the line up of men coming into power.
One of the shortcomings of Tanaka's writing is that he very incorrectly conflated monarchism with dictatorship. ua-cam.com/video/_joDpaOjLx8/v-deo.htmlsi=y4MsXPJK-SnuTPS6
animekisa has it, if you're willing to sail the 7 seas. I recommend seeing the Gaiden series before the main thing and the movie that summarizes the first 2 episodes instead of those episodes
I think the best way to put it, using a videogame comparison, legend of the galactical heroes is a grand strategy, in here is a grand opera, and like you said, there is not many thinks to compare i use grand strategy because, in videogames are few that use grand strategy or create and not a lot to compare each other, and is like you said, i only watch 72 episode, i lost 100 because for me after Reinhard and Yang talk was not to much to go on and the serie didnt manage to pass that, and mi that conversation and teh way they even use 90s stile documentaries is so great. The serie was really good, and now older me realize yes is not democracy vs authoritarian but for one side, showing, one sistem and another, both with pros and cons, one is not better than others all surge from the same, with problems and advantefes, honlesty i doubt we see one like these again, as i doubt any one can watch these tipe of anime, i see the re made and yes more following the original manga but i know many things will be taken away, from some gore to ultimately already many things were deminish, modern audience wont be able to see these anime. As for me i like the anime didnt just made authoritarian bad, or empire bad, it was a nice thing
