WOW!!! Amazing with all the preset audio collections in addition to what's on the thumb-drive. I would have never known ... glad you were able to give us a demo.
That's a great addition to the stock patches, thank you! amazing that Roland is still dishing out also some of those old samples from the JV series. Sounds good though!
Holy $hit! I just got this keyboard last week and downloaded the expansions today. I hadn't got to try them yet. I write a lot of songs needing strings. I've been sourcing out that stuff using 2 composers. I'm glad to hear the guitar parts to play some country piano to. I've got 2 songs I really need to redo and then release them again.
Hi Sweetwater! Really Love this cool expansion Thumb Drive, however - I'm already an owner of a Juno DS... Is there by any chance of ordering it as an external Component? Kind Regards from Sweden!
almost ten years since the release, and it still ranks as the TOP synth buy, why, because it sounds incredible, a 128 poly synth, with 8 channels, and a massive library, all for under 600 bucks
NEED Advice!!! I am at beginner level and I am little confused about buying the basic digital Piano or a synthesizer (workstation) with a weighted keyboard. So I need to make a decision now keeping in mind this keyboard is going to assist me for my musical learning and exploration. If you suggest the DPs over the DS88 in that case which one would you prefer more amongst P125, FP-30 and ES110? I found something new about these DP/Keyboards that they have their certain longevity…will you please clarify that these DPs will have more or same kind of longevity over DS88 or the same? I know I have asked you many questions, But if you answer, it will enable to make up my mind and take a decision without further delay in purchasing. Thank you. Arjun.
I wouldnt buy the full weighted keys. It doesnt feel right. Just buy the smaller ones. Another important thing is: How complex is the menu navigation & how many sounds do you need want? The best idea is to go to a big seller or even a convention & try it out: When it clicks you will know it for sure :-) Good luck. Even if you missed the perfect keyboard. Sell it & try another. Easy as that ...
Most companies are know for different things. When it comes to synth stuff roland and korg all day. When you want the sounds that you hear on r&b and gospel albums.....lean more towards motif......You want a company that focuses on pianos......kirkswile.....Just depends on what you want....The juno is a great board. So is the motif series...if you want a certain motif board, and you feel it's too much....look at motif's mo series ( is essentially the motif series, at a lower price.) If you will not be able to buy a keyboard for a while after purchase. Buy something you can grow into. Spend a little money and get a good board (only if you are committed though).
You guys really sold me on this keyboard. I was in the market of buying something like Nexus, but then I was like wait, I should just get a hardware synth that basically does the same thing. But this thing does so much more. I was debating on this or the FA-06. Maybe I'll have my fun with this then try that out in the future.
Pretty awesome video. And what would also be awesome would be importing the .wav or .mp3 into the Juno to fire them from the Pads (instead of having to keep the thumb drive there).
I have this same board. It is most powerful at the price and the capabilities within it. I will use this beyond its intended purpose as all of hip hop used the AKAI MPC 60 beyond Roger Linns’ intended purpose. This is a tool for innovation. Even it’s limitations can be circumvented.
I vote Dan should get a bonus from Roland for doing such a great job showcasing their products, but being as he also does great demos for other manufacturers and is not a "bought" man, I doubt Roland would agree, unfortunately! :-(
The tiny screen on the DS,is why I dislike it.In fact, the screen is terrible and a total deal-breaker for me.I mean...look at what the Korg Krome offers,screen-wise!Even Casio keyboards have big, beautiful display screens on them.
I had one. I love many of the sounds. However, the piano and organs are a little unpolished and cheap sounding. Customizing the patches is incredibly difficult on the screen and not much better on the PC app. I wanted to play a lot of layers with effects and it was just too difficult to get the sound I wanted. Was it possible? Yes. But note there are like two guys out there that have patches you can download. They sound amazing, but the lack of community and patches shows how difficult it is. Ultimately I didn’t want to spend all day diving through the tiny screen and wasn’t confident in my ability to become proficient enough on this instrument do do what I wanted. And also again the piano is a dealbreaker.
Hi,Daniel. I bought last August Roland Juno DS 88 from Amazon. And just now I saw your great demo.I would like to buy this 8GB thumb drive what ever it takes.
Hi Vytas Fv. For now, the Sweetwater Value Added thumb drive for the Juno-DS is only available with a Juno-DS purchase from Sweetwater. After a product has been out for a while, we sometimes make our Value Added thumb drives as a separate purchase. Thanks for watching! -_Daniel_
Hi Daniel once again.Could you answer my question: This 8GB bonus thumb drive coming with a new arriving from Roland factory,or Sweetwater technicians making it themselves? Thanks.@@sweetwater

Hi Diki. Aside from the extra organ programs that I put on there, everything else, including any Global EQ settings, are at their flat Default. The L/R Output jacks are connected directly to a Zoom F8N Multitrack Field Recorder with no additional EQing or compressing. Thanks for watching!

Mr Fisher, excelente performance. Parabéns. Eu tenho, já há 2 anos o Juno DS 88. Nunca implementei sons adicionais. I have a JUNO DS-76. I downloaded the expansion files (DS_EXP-01 through to DS_EXP-10, JUNO-DS_XV_Patch_Collection_Bank_A, etc) I cannot for the life of me get any of these to show p when I do the Numeric + Power On thing. I even set up a folder structure exactly as the drive you offer on your Sweetwater deal. The USB is formatted and has a backup of my DS-76 on it. I'm just dumfounded in how to get to use the expansions I downloaded. Are these expansions only for the DS-61 and DS-88? Great demo anyway. Thanks for your insights and skills.
TRUST ME this is a smart mans keyboard. Many elite models are over priced since usb to computer software. All keyboards are digital lol Software Gigabytes, how about that lol REALLY BUY THIS WITH A MAC COMPUTER
i had buy this great juno ds 88 Before. so is it possible to buy this thumb drive only ? or download from your store? anyway really great for new owner to get this thumb drive. good work done by Daniel Fisher.
Can u change tempo on the loops of the drums you load up on pads? And can you change to any key or chord for the sampled banjo or other guitar rhythms for a particular song u want to play on the fly?
I have both Roland Juno DS88 and FA08. No matter how I try to Eq, I get better acoustic piano sounds from the DS88. Is it only me ? I wonder what kind of sound engine is in the DS88, analog ? I can't get nice mids from the FA08.
hi, thanks for the demo, i would think that most of these piano , drum, clav, etc. sounds would be on the synth anyway, or a reasonable facsimile, are they not ? thanks, Will
Hi Willard. Yes, the factory presets have most of these sounds, but the Expansion files contain instruments with much more memory dedicated to their particular instruments. Thanks for watching!
Question here, since only one expansion pack can be loaded at a time. Is it possible to copy our favorite tones of each expansion set as a user patch to have them at all time? If so I would keep the piano expansion loaded after keeping a few of each other expansion set as user patches or performances.
Hi Maxime Bias. The patches and performances could be saved separately, but they all use the new samples that are loaded as one block. So none of the presets or performances would sound anything like what you were expecting. -_Daniel_
Hi dekzan. There's only enough internal Flash ROM dedicated to hold a single EXP at a time on a Juno-DS. The FA-06 (7, and 8) have enough Flash ROM to hold two at once. And the Integra-7 can hold four EXP files at once. And, to be clear, once an EXP file is loaded, you no longer need to leave the thumb drive inserted since that EXP and its Programs are stored internally until replaced with a different EXP. -_Daniel_
I'm thinking about buying a Juno DS but I'm in the UK so I imagine shipping charges would make this unfeasible. Can the thumb drive be purchased on it's own?
@@sweetwater Thank you! I actually just bought it and it arrived from Sweetwater yesterday! So far I love it but I am trying to get in the hang of it now. I have the thumb drive in the back of the unit however, i am curious if all of these EXP libraries/bins will stay in the machine permanently? Or do i have to keep re-writing each individual expansion pack? Also the EXP option is not appearing on my screen after I loaded the first expansion into the unit.
There is a slot for only one. In order to use different EXP you need to unload previous. I highly recommend buying pre-owned FA keyboard for a similar price of new DS. All sounds of DS, plus modeled new sounds, two slots for expansions, better built quality, a bigger screen, full linear sequencer, more on-hands controls. Going for a new Fantom-0 would be significantly more expensive with very little extras sounds wise, though it has PC/Mac integration and plenty of hands-on controls. Another option is RD-88, though it has many compromises (only three parts instead of 16, no sequencer, no certain connectors and so on), but still could be very good keyboard for a beginner seeking cheap 88 key keyboard with extensive sound palette. BTW, with every keyboard you should learn and work with what you have and care for extras only when you really need them.
2 questions 1. I already have the keyboard , can i just buy the thumbdrive from sweetwater? 2.does thw keyboard play the sounds off of the thumb drive or do you install and remove thumbdrive? Thank you so much!!
Hi satm, Sweetwater is currently including the thumb drive with purchase of the keyboard. Any one of the ten EXP Expansion Libraries can be loaded during power up. It then remains permanently in the keyboard until it's replaced with a different EXP Library. The Pad samples read off of the thumb drive each time. Thanks for watching!
Were you able to get the thumb drive? I just bought this keyboard off eBay today. Looking forward to it! Are you able to hook me up with the drive content?
Hello. This key seems very well. Some questions : Is it possible to put my own samples and library in it ? How to get the key ? What is the price ? Thank You.
How long will you be doing this offer? I'm thinking of picking up a DS61 after the new year, and our local Guitar Center has it, but I'd gladly endure the inconvenience of not being able to take it out the door immediately if it means getting something like your offer...
Hi froggy doodle, although the thumb drive contains all of the sounds available from Axial, it also contains sound effects from our library, drum grooves from our CD-ROM library, and a complete reworking of all the onboard organ sounds. Thanks for watching!
Having a hard time deciding on the roland Go keys, VR09, jv30 and juno ds 61. which one has the best hammond sound. Can't remember which one has the stops
Can you save your own sounds and combinations to s thumb drive? If so, how? I'd love to down load these expansions but I'm afraid of loosing my sounds. I put a lot of work and time into them.
I realized I can’t get all the downloaded sounds. For example, I downloaded the piano sounds, powered off and on and tried to download the World sounds; and then powered the keyboard again. I realized that the previous piano sounds were longer available. Is that how it is supposed to be, or am I doing something wrong?
Yep. The Juno-DS can hold one EXP at a time. Some other Roland synths can hold two EXP files, and the Roland Integration-7 can hold four EXP files at once. -_Daniel_
Thank you very much for responding. Sounds great so far! I have one quick question, though. I've heard some reviewers refer to the analog sounds in the DS as sounding more digital than analog. I'm thinking they're referring to the Juno-106, Jupiter, D-50 type sounds. So I would say my question is how close does the Juno DS get to those sounds? I'm not expecting it to compare to what the System 8 or Jupiter 80 has to offer but I'm really interested in having those older sounds without breaking the bank. Thanks in advance for your time. :)
So u can only load 1expansion at a time then so what if I like 10 for example sounds of the 10 expansions how do u save that collection from across the expansion packs so that in the system permanently no one is going to wait 4 minutes for 1 sound while it takes away all the others.i wish I lived in your country so I could buy a unit with thumb drive off you . Awesome deal and demo appreciate it.
Hi shane. On the Juno-DS there's a dedicated amount of Flash ROM specifically for one of the EXP files. The thumb drive does not change this. As you go up in some of the models of Roland synths you'll find more memory added for more EXP files at once. For example, the Roland FA-06 can hold two EXP files at once, and the Roland Integra-7 can hold four EXP files at once. -_Daniel_
Is this thumb drive still available? I could not find it on the Sweetwater website. Are these expansions the same as the ones available on the Roland website?
Hi diroblo. One section of the thumb drive contained all the Expansion files found on Roland's Axial webpage. Other sections contained a bunch of preset libraries, plus guides and manuals as well. At this time, they are no longer offering that thumb drive. -_Daniel_
What a bummer...I've had my juno for quite a few years now and have grown fond of it, I'd love to get my hands on a thumb drive but looks like I'll have to put in some library time and get them all
Hi elmero mero. One a keyboard has user control over the pitch, filtering, and volume of a sound with knobs, LFOs, and Envelopes, it's usually considered a synthesizer. Thanks for watching! -_Daniel_
For some reason when I go to patch/perform there’s no way to scroll to EXP. it still just has the prst and user categories only even after I’ve successfully loaded and restarted the DS. Any ideas?
1) Can you use the JUNO-DS 06's own Asio Driver on Cubase and its on-board soundcard as External Sound Card so that midi Latency is close to 0 ms? So that you don't need an extra external sound card or suffer the latency of the Realtek inner PC sound card? 2) How long do the batteries last in case you use them?
Hi The phoenix chant. I'm not sure about the specific hardware you're asking about, but I do know that the JUNO-DS can send both Audio and MIDI via the USB cable. So you may not need any of that to get MIDI and Audio directly from the JUNO-DS to your computer. Thanks for watching!
I realize this is a 6 year old video. I just ordered a DS88 and I can hardly wait. Thank you Daniel for this wonderful tutorial and I hope to one day understand everything you just said. Blessings from Kansas~

I'm thinking about buying a Juno DS but I'm in the UK so I imagine shipping charges would make this unfeasible. Can the thumb drive be purchased on it's own?
Can this unit be connected to the zoom R8 multitrack recorder for music recording instead of using a DAW ?
Yes, you can connect 1/4'' outputs of JUNO DS to 1/4'' line inputs of Zoom R8 and record in stereo.
Hi I am interested in purchasing this keyboard. Is this bonus thumb drive included with the purchase?
Hi violet flame. Yes, the thumb drive is included with purchase. Thanks for watching! -_Daniel_
How many expansion can save in the Juno Ds thanks for answer
2 questions
Greetings........ Dan, I believe BASS patches & DRUM sets deserve more review. Please.
Are the sounds the same as what’s downloadable from the Roland Axial website, or is there more to it?
Hello. This key seems very well. Some questions : Is it possible to put my own samples and library in it ? How to get the key ? What is the price ? Thank You.
Where do I buy this?
Hi,Daniel. I Saved on my JunoDS88 dual layer, but can't find how to delete it.
How long will you be doing this offer? I'm thinking of picking up a DS61 after the new year, and our local Guitar Center has it, but I'd gladly endure the inconvenience of not being able to take it out the door immediately if it means getting something like your offer...
Hi Larry, the Sweetwater exclusive Value Added for the Juno-DS will be available for as long as we sell those keyboards. Thanks for watching!
Is this Dan Fisher/Sweetwater exclusive thumb drive a different set of sounds from Axial?
Hi froggy doodle, although the thumb drive contains all of the sounds available from Axial, it also contains sound effects from our library, drum grooves from our CD-ROM library, and a complete reworking of all the onboard organ sounds. Thanks for watching!
Having a hard time deciding on the roland Go keys, VR09, jv30 and juno ds 61. which one has the best hammond sound. Can't remember which one has the stops
Hi Ebacklin. The Roland VR-09 V-Combo and its siblings have the drawbars:

Can you save your own sounds and combinations to s thumb drive? If so, how? I'd love to down load these expansions but I'm afraid of loosing my sounds. I put a lot of work and time into them.
Hi, where can I purchase this thumb drive?? I've contacted Sweetwater and was told it's not available 😒
So my question is can you load these without having to erase anything from the default sounds.
Yes. Just download them. And that's it. Then you have the default sounds PLUS the expansion sounds.
@@NKWoodworks with this expansion card, can I still add stuff from the axial site and other different samples ?
I realized I can’t get all the downloaded sounds. For example, I downloaded the piano sounds, powered off and on and tried to download the World sounds; and then powered the keyboard again. I realized that the previous piano sounds were longer available. Is that how it is supposed to be, or am I doing something wrong?
Yep. The Juno-DS can hold one EXP at a time. Some other Roland synths can hold two EXP files, and the Roland Integration-7 can hold four EXP files at once. -_Daniel_
ho
and I'm totally hypnotized when you tweak synth 😊
Where can I buy this thumb drive with the sounds?
Quite the lovely demo! But, I have a question about the thumb drive. How long is this promotion running for?
Hi Ionian Blue, since I make these myself, we will have them for as long as we sell JUNO-DS keyboards. Thanks for watching!
@@sweetwater Hi dear Sweetwater. Can we order the USB stick alone?
So u can only load 1expansion at a time then so what if I like 10 for example sounds of the 10 expansions how do u save that collection from across the expansion packs so that in the system permanently no one is going to wait 4 minutes for 1 sound while it takes away all the others.i wish I lived in your country so I could buy a unit with thumb drive off you .
Awesome deal and demo appreciate it.
Basically wanting to make my own single expansion pack mixing and matching across all expansion packs.tbis must be possible? If not it's useless.
-_Daniel_
Hi guys would you post the thumb drive to the UK and how much would it cost? It's a really great addition of sound the the Juno DS! Great work 😉
Is this thumb drive still available? I could not find it on the Sweetwater website. Are these expansions the same as the ones available on the Roland website?
Hi diroblo. One section of the thumb drive contained all the Expansion files found on Roland's Axial webpage. Other sections contained a bunch of preset libraries, plus guides and manuals as well. At this time, they are no longer offering that thumb drive. -_Daniel_
What a bummer...I've had my juno for quite a few years now and have grown fond of it, I'd love to get my hands on a thumb drive but looks like I'll have to put in some library time and get them all
If you already own a Juno, can you purchase the thumb drive?
it sounds really good
Great video but just one question .. is this a keyboard or is a synthetizer?? I'll appreciate someone reply me .. t-you 😊
Hi elmero mero. One a keyboard has user control over the pitch, filtering, and volume of a sound with knobs, LFOs, and Envelopes, it's usually considered a synthesizer. Thanks for watching! -_Daniel_
@@sweetwater t-you ✌
For some reason when I go to patch/perform there’s no way to scroll to EXP. it still just has the prst and user categories only even after I’ve successfully loaded and restarted the DS. Any ideas?
How can I get the thumb drive?
Does this synth have the same exact keybed as Roland A-500PRO midi keyboard?
Good evening! Where could I find this expansion to add to my juno ds 61?
How can I GET THIS?

Any nice Nord upright pianos? Nordic Pianos are so real. Even their electric pianos and organs.
