  • Hi Friends! In today's video I'm sharing an unboxing I did for my new TWSBI ECO - I got the Rose Gold and White version with an extra fine nib.
I did have some difficulty when I first opened the pen and had to contact customer service to get a metal wrench to be able to open the piston mechanism. Once I got that, it opened without any issue, but its something I didn't expect to deal with. My initial opinion of the pen and quality is that I LOVE it. I'm so impressed with the consistency and the fact that it doesn't dry up when left uncapped. I know the ink could have something to do with that too, but I love it all the same.
i purchased this pen from Yoseka Stationery, and the quick shipping and comparable prices make this the only place I'll purchase a fountain pen. - yosekastationery.com/

One thing I learned using the TWSBI eco is that the more times you fill it, pushing the piston down and then back up, the fewer air bubbles you will have in the barrel. So for each fill, fill then empty a few times (I usually go for 3 or 4 depending on the ink). Goulet pens did a video on filling piston pens, and as long as the pen is clean and dry, pushing the ink back down into the bottle is not an issue. I have 2 ecos, and I LOVE them. I've got turquoise and white, broad and EF respectively. I had the diamond 580 but it literally snapped in 2 after leaving it empty for several months on my shelf. But the eco hasn't had any issues for me.

About 2:10 when you make a note about not cleaning with alcohol: it doesn't have anything to do with the rose gold plating. This note also comes with other TWSBI pens. It's because alcohol will harm the plastic barrel of the pen. So does acetone and isopropyl. If you need to clean the pen, it's better to disassemble it instead.

I got my first fountain pen a few weeks ago. The white TWSBI eco with the medium Nib and I just got a White lamy Safari in a Fine Nib. The TWSBI is by far my favorite I absolutely love it

    Nice review!
I have a tip for filling TWSBI Eco with samples: you can pull off the nib and feed, then work with the piston to fill it. Or if you have a syringe and blunt needle, you can transfer the ink with the syringe to the pen throw the plastic hole before putting the feed and the nib back. Does it make sense?
It definitely helps on filling them with inks you don’t have a lot to play with.

Streetcar Green is the very least preferred of the inks I own. I expected it to be GREEN and not grey. NOLA streetcars are NOT grey! LOL

Is this a real rose gold nib? Or is this just rose gold coated?

Maybe a little bit late, but anyhow: it's a steel nib with a rose gold plating.
