Traded an IHC 815 for a IHC 1420 rotary back around 1980 or so. Small combine compared to the new ones nowadays. The rotary did a great job if adjusted properly. It always seemed that I had to ignore the settings in the owners manual and set the combine to my own specs. Very clean sample and very little grain damage. Sure do miss those harvesting days!
Thank you for watching. This video was one of my early narration releases. Not long before I never talked in a video it was just the machine at work. I keep trying to improve. 😁
The engineers for the early combines obviously never drove them in a field during harvest. The tires were so small they would get stuck in any soil that's even slightly wet. Big and heavy but the drive tires were smaller than those on a tractor. My brother got to work with some engineers at Case in Racine Wi that knew how to engineer something but didn't wrench on things and didn't know anything about a farm. He grew up on a dairy farm.
I haven't been in a wheat field in nearly 40 years. but watching this I can still smell it all. Do the farmers in KY burn the wheat stubble? Most still do here in the Bootheel if conditions are right.
.In 1979 as in today there are also 3 type of rotary combine on the market to Ironically in 1977 when the 1440,1460,1480 models were introduced J I Case wasn t even making a combine.
There are still Case combines out there. I filmed a 960 for the BTP UA-cam channel at the show in Rantoul shelling corn. A BTP Facebook fan from Wyoming still harvests with 12 Case combines.
There is a good sized JCB dealer in Ohio where BTP films sometimes. I filmed the JCB exhibit at the National Farm Machinery Show this year for a future video. I have not had a chance to film one in the field yet.
Sorry I accidentally removed your comment when replying. I would like to film a JCB but I do not think it will be soon. I do not know of any JCB's in the area I film in here in Kentucky. There are not any JCB dealers in the region.
if you could afford all that it would start to farm you,re investment manger would have you commited there is no fun left in farming soon the only ones left will be just hied hands working for big conglorments
Allen Pogue it is not wasted acreage. The plant population per area is still the same, the plants are simply closer together in the line. This causes more competition between each plant and causes root systems to grow wider getting better water use from the acreage. Different spacing scan be used in different fields depending on a number of variables around climate and weather. Farmers will usually know the spacing that will give them the greatest yield.

Great video as always!!! We use a Case-IH 1660 axial flow combine on our farm in Wisconsin. We harvest corn and soybeans with it.
Very cool.
Great job on the video! Thanks for showing! 👍🏻
Thank you for watching.

Very nice video! A great tribute to IH combines. IH needs to hire you for the sales department
+Jake Ziegler Thanks for watching. I enjoy watching your channel.
Один из лучших!!!!!👍
Cool great job. I have a 1440 and it's been a super combine. Only wish I could add on a tilting feeder house.
I hope to film more 1400 series.
Great video Jason.
Great video!
I love the Bigtractorpower videos, but I wish there was more narration in this one.

+generationll one of the key reasons Case acquired IH was for the combines. First combine I ever road in was a 1969 J.I. Case 1060.
I used to work for a custom cutter that had three 1060's. We use to run a JI Case 700 in the rice field. Wonder if there are any of them still around?

love it
Very nice machine ‘s I would run if I had but I do bleed green. I have a neighbor that runs the case IH
👍
crazy how technology has changed
+Matt Grover the machines have grown up a bunch in 40 years.
bigtractorpower I wonder how its going to be,the, next 40 years
hello. I see many JCB fastracs in the UK, but not many in the US where I live, how many have you seen over here?

Amazing wow !!!👍👍
there is not a combine made today that can keep up with these big red combines cutting beans or rice
+Loretta Merchant the 9240 moves more grain faster than the S690s and 760TTs I film.
i notice that all videos of the JD combine show them cutting wheat lol
thank you for your reply
New Holland CR 9.90
do you know why stripper header combines are not more common?
+beeqool they used to popular in WKY. Draper heads have pretty much replaced them. One of the farms BTP films at runs two on a 9240 and 8240.
They are Axial flow not Axel flow Combines...
My grandpop said the IH combines would actually pick better with more material in it and could outrun a gleaner any day
G And N Productions are
Will you do this with all the major brands?
Yes if I can find more classic machines in that brand to film. Is there a brand you would like to see?
bigtractorpower gleaner!!

Why are the grassy margins so wide? Wasted acreage . . .

Brad Conway that was a great explanation of yield and row spacing. You know your stuff very well.
CumminsDslPwr Thank you!
Axial flow combines are good for corn, soja, or peas ....... but for grain like wheat, barley rye ..... there are better Systems ...
