My daughter and I had an interesting discussion trying to decide "who" was singing this song. Is the song being sung from the point of view of a parent to a child? from a lover to his love? from a loved-one who has passed away? Different lines from the song lend itself to different points-of-view. My daughter wisely said that perhaps the song was supposed to encompass all these relationships. Without argument, we thought the message was about encouragement and how the most "perfect" gift we could get from those we love is to see them flourish while following their dreams. And that they always remember that "we will always be there" supporting them in spirit, if not with our physical presence, as they do it.

I've watched this so many times and keep crying. Clifton is such a gifted singer
I have pushed this song on repeat all Christmas long but I think it is the song of my heart. I think of it is as God being in my life despite struggles, challenges, defeats, mistakes and tragedy. The world has forgotten me, maybe even hates me, maybe doesn't want me but God gave me, gave us the perfect gift. The voice is amazing - but it is the light, the hope that radiates from it (Clifton Murray from the Tenors). Too bad I sound like a dying cow being run over. I am inspried to share the perfect gift but then reality hits and I remember I am nothing in the world's eyes - ugly, untalented and not popular but I do hold on to the perfect gift given to us all. It is so inspiring. I would love to meet the singer - does anyone know more about these Tenors? I googled them but I am not sure are they like huge stars or what? I am so touched and moved by their music and i want to do great things to encoruage and inspire others.
Clifton is a wonderful addition to the Tenors....what an asset. He seems to tie them all together! I could be his grandmother but I fell in love the first time I heard him sing.
I can't get enough of these amazing voices, and Clifton...OMG, he gives me chills. Such a beautiful song.
For the past few days , the only music i've been playing is the Canadian Tenors. I will never get tired of playing their Music.You can feel in your heart every words ,lyrics and the emotions that was being interpreted in every words! I hope ,you 'll stay humble forever!

I think the answer to this is expressed by both Clifton's and Fraser's moms on the Mothers' Day 2013 surprise in Chicago. They both said that they loved their sons but that they were particularly happy for the boys as they were pursuing what they loved and what made them happy -- their music. I believe every mother feels this way about her children.
