    Just wanted to comment on Dr. Ayars wonderful tactfulness in regards to the late Dr. Heiser around the 20:00 minute mark. I agree with most of his statements about Heiser, both positive and negative (I still miss Mike, and I look forward to meeting him some glad day 🥹). Even when critiquing and offering an oppositional idea, Ayars expressed so, so much gentleness and respect. Seriously, hats off to you, sir, and may God bless you in the Lord Jesus Christ.

      I definitely think that took away from the conversation though, I would have just rather had Matt's thoughts without him going on a rant to distinguish himself from Heiser I felt it took precious time from the interview.

    Great interview. Dr. Ayars' "both-and" approach to reading Scripture on its own terms AND reading it in light of historical theology is so refreshing. I love the idea of multiple valid "layers" to our hermeneutics. He was also very charitable when making known his differences with the late Dr. Heiser.

    Interesting interview. Thank you. 😊However I must say that all I have seen, heard and read of Dr Heiser tells me that he did not see the scriptures solely in terms of spiritual warfare as this guest seems to state. Dr Heiser’s major field of study focused on the spiritual realm and in particular the role of the Divine Council but he was certainly aware of the broader themes running through Scripture and addressed these as well. I’m not sure why Dr Heiser was mentioned here, certainly not in the context of “the elephant in the room”!

It's so helpful when the reasons to approach such topics with discernment are crucial. He's not leading with, "This is how I feel."

    Also, Ken Fish has said several times that demons need to be expelled and won't just go away on their own. Why would they? They are evil beings. Anyways, I can attest to this personally after going through a lot of inner healing over the years, I still struggled with a lot of emotional issues that didn't get solved until I went through deliverance. So I definitely disagree that it is "rare" that we actually need to expel demons. It wasn't rare for Jesus. Probably not going to be for us either.

    Mr Ayars criticized the “naked bible “ approach; reading scripture in its own ancient context , suggesting we read it as the church gave it to us. So I’m wondering which one? A lot of denominations with different opinions and interpretations has caused Confusions and divisions among Christians. Which church or denomination is best in his eyes? The earliest Christians believed what Heiser taught for the first 300 years till Augustine come on the scene with the beginning of selective supernatural beliefs.

    • @jayshen84
      @jayshen84 17 днів тому

      think it means that at least a few people agree that spiritual warfare is happening.
      So if you suspect spiritual warfare is happening, its better to check in with other christians there or even better not there.Often what we perceive as warfare is rooted in human misunderstanding.
      For example, i witnessed once a newbie missionary saying that the sudden rain in an asia outdoor service was a demonic attack. But then the experienced missionary replied : " its the rainy season ... sudden rain is normal and almost daily. No rain is supernatural. And rain is something the local farmers we are going to minister with will celebrate as they need it to water their crops"

  • @sebastiancreutz9023
    @sebastiancreutz9023 7 днів тому +1

    I think the critique of Michael Heiser was a bit unjuste.
    Firstly: Michael never said that the plural of gen 1 did not include the trinity. He just opend up to the possibillity that it also could include the divine council. This was not a central part of his docrine and I'm not sure if he was correct but I'm open to it.
    Secondly: You get the impression that Heiser promoted a form strategic prayer against terroterial spirits wich he realy did not. He both spoke and wrote stronly against speking directly to these spiritual beings.
    And thirdly: The idea of demons/evil spirits as the spirits of dead nefilims comes from so much more than 1 Enoch. Of course it is an important sorce allong with the broad matterial from the second temple period that says the same. It is not a far stretch to believe that the writers of the NT took these idéas for granted since they use the these materials over and over again when they speak of the spiritual world. The wording unclean spirit comes from the idea of forbidden mixture (as a nefilim is the result of). Whenever terms like this is used in the second temple period it refers to spirits of the nefilim. If the NT didn't agree with these ideas why would they use the exact same terminology as theses books and borow so much other from them? This seems to be have been the standard idea at the time of Jeus. If he didn't agree with it, why di he use the same terminology and never spoke against it?
    The word rephaim (the later generations of nefilim) in OT also gives support for the idea. It speaks of dead rephaim in Sheol moving and waking at the arrival of Satan (Jer 14). In Ugarit the term rephaim was used for dead king spirits asossiated with healing and sickness.
    The septuagint translates the word rephaim to earthbound and physians.
    Provernbs warns that by following the "foreign woman" you will end up in the congregation of the rephaim. I think this is an OT warning for becoming demonized.
    So there is much more to the idea of demons as dead nefilim than dr Matt suggests. Heiser did not just read 1 Enoch.

    Dr lester sumrall has a great example of what happens when you cast a principality out of area, when Jesus told him to go to a prison in the Philippians and cast some demons out of a women. That led to a big revival in the Philippians.
    Jesus also does take out some principalities if you read the gospels, for example the person with lots of demons.
    So getting rid of the ruling spirits can really free up an area to come to Jesus, but Christians also need to put the work in after something like that happens to bring people to him.

There is nothing here that indicates that Jesus agreed with the fathers medical asessmant that he had epilepsy as a medical condition. Listen to the interview again. • @runningwarrior5468
      @runningwarrior5468 18 днів тому

      Unless the father was a board certified neurologist (highly unlikely back then ;)) he didnt know what he was talking about. The word "epileptic" does not occur in the other two accounts of this story, and Matthew 4 separates demon possession from seizures. Jesus knew exactly what was wrong with the son...it was a not epilepsy but a demon. And dispite this since epileptics all over are stigmatized over ignorance. When your earthly father says one thing about you and your God says something else, you go with God's words. Jesus was trying to separate the two conditions and a lot of us never got the memo. Listen to this interview. They got it right.

    @debblouin 19 днів тому

    So I need an answer to this complex series of questions.
    Do you believe that Satan or the devil is a person or personhood apart from God and apart from man? If so, from where did he/it arise? I need you to affirm it without relying on Isaiah 14, as that passage’s primary reference was to an earthly king of Babylon, although it can be argued that there is double meaning.
    I am curious about his because I think it may be a hindrance to people seeing their true depravity and need, because they are putting the onus to somebody other than themselves.

    • @aaronvienot
      @aaronvienot 19 днів тому +1

      Reading your question backwards, it seems your concern is people using "The devil made me do it" as an excuse for unrepentant sin. In this episode, I saw Ayers strongly take the position that while spiritual warfare has an influence on our life-experience, we must confront and repent from our own sin as the first step for recovery to Christ. I believe Scripture teaches that as well, because everywhere that human sin is discussed, man is correspondingly presented as accountable to God and facing judgment. Only Christ's atoning sacrifice can provide salvation. Continuing through your question, I suggest that if you search "devil" and "Satan" in any good Bible translation and then read each result in context, you will readily find that Satan is a unique being and is responsible for adversarial action beginning from Genesis 3, and does have a fallen spiritual host within his command. Compare Revelation 12:9, which cements the link between various names and images used in Scripture.

    Josh I’m a little disappointed in your statement around the 28 min mark regarding Heiser and how Remnant Radio engaged with him prior to his passing. The Divine council perspective in Gen. 1 makes a lot of sense especially when the ANE audience would have had no understanding of a Trinitarian explanation regarding the plurality language. Your statement and body language insinuated that Mike was somehow alluding to the idea that when God said “let us make man in our image and likeness..” (Gen. 1:26) that there was “some sort of Angelic participation,” in creation. You said that “was a tough pill to swallow”, but I’m not sure why? You know full well that Mike made it absolutely crystal clear not only in his books but also in his interviews with RR, that he did not believe there was any kind of Angelic participation in the creation of man (and creation in general), or in the idea to make man in God’s image and likeness.
    If you are going to disagree with the man at least be accurate with what he actually said. And before someone responds by reminding me of the video RR made defending Mike from those who unfairly criticized his theology after he passed, that doesn’t exonerate you from basically doing the same thing tonight. Just giving you a suggestion my brotha, no need to do that in the future. In fact, I remember Carmen Imes coming on your show a while back and you asked her if she held to the divine council worldview in Genesis and you mentioned Heiser specifically, and if you remember she said that she did hold to the divine council worldview regarding Genesis. So it’s really not that hard of a pill to swallow when you accurately explain Mikes actual position.
    And I’m definitely not a person that agrees with everything Mike taught, I simply didn’t care for your tone and it light weight felt like you jumped on the bandwagon when your guest made those comments about Mike.
