I love these retro videos, this is what UA-cam is made for 👌🏽, I’m in the mid forty’s, and growing up; my early days where spent in the arcades. Love mad little pixels videos.
You're absolutely right, the scrolling in Street Fighter II is broken. The perspective effect of the floor (ie. every line scrolling faster than the one above) is disabled. It looks so weird. And it's odd because in Super Street Fighter II Turbo the scrolling of the floor is perfectly fine.
I’m guessing the pixel artifacts problems has to do with same problem as the Arcade1up SF2 cabinet. Perhaps they are using the emulator as the A1U which is the Moo emulator? It’s not the screen, it’s the emulator.
That wasn't your imagination on the SF2 background. The floor, in particular, is supposed to have line-scrolling such that the bottom moves more than the top as you shift from side to side, to create an illusion of perspective -- in Blanka's stage, this results in the planks always being roughly straight-vertical at center screen at all times. But the entire floor texture was moving as a single piece, which also caused the line where the floor meets the backdrop to be out of sync between the two pieces. What the crap, even the console ports at the time got this right.
Your not mistaken, SF2 is missing the line scrolling effect on the floor. SSF2T doesn't appear to suffer from this issue. Probably an emulation problem.
You were mentioning that something may of been off during some gameplay of street fighter , might be the emulator they went with on board of the mini cabnit. I wish it had other Capcom fighters on it outside of SF2 and if there is usb game pad support that would be awesome
Aw man I love the pocket fighter / puzzle fighter art on there. Looks like a slick, nice, bartop machine. Modding might be a bit tricky for the stick and buttons. If the arcade hardware was full spec, then it might be more worth getting.
After having it a bit, would you say it's still a good import, for mini arcade collectors? I missed out on the Replicade SFII cab, so thinking I'll make this the main SFII entry in my collection. Should we wait for a US release?
I think its a neat device. The quality is very good for the most part. I did have an issue with the power supply though, but got a new one. Also there are some emulation issues, which have been brought up to the company who made this, have not heard anything on a possible firmware update to fix it.
