    They're out of their minds. To trespass to get closeup photos is just the type of unlawful behavior that gives us railfans a bad name. And whether trespassing for photos, on a dare, or simply for a thrill, suppose no one had been around to see them and alert the engineer? Suppose the train had been speeding? Fast trains can generate enough wind to possibly push someone over the side of a trestle. At that section, they must have been at least 50 feet up.

And the train DID NOT slow down as it passed. I'm not sure WHAT the deal is with these clowns. Other than they're just going to ruin it for everybody else, who AREN'T clowns!

      Well, if you have been up there, like I have, you know there's plenty of clearance on that catwalk. No real danger at all if they hug the rail. That was the fun part.

    There are two catwalks, and both have more than enough clearance. In recent years the derelict western catwalk was restored.This is a tempest in a teapot and an overreaction to trespassers who were in no real danger. Of course, they're trespassing, but they were not in immediate danger of being struck by the train.

    • @betornween
      @betornween 4 роки тому +4

      Yeah, because the train slowed to crawl. It didn't panic them into doing something stupid.

    • @sjduskin
      @sjduskin 4 роки тому +1

      You got that right. We did that decades ago, when the freight trains did NOT slow down like that. There was plenty of room then, and crappy catwalks on both sides. If you hugged the rail, there was at least two feet of free clearance.

    • @adamantiumrage
      @adamantiumrage 4 роки тому

      Another one defending the trespassers.Wonderful.Tell me something.Do you walk across Castleton Bridge (220 ft up in the air)or Wilbur Trestle on the Riverline(155 ft up)with trains coning at you?.Those have walkways as well.Let me catch you on either one of those.Police WILL be called and a detailed description of yourself and whoever you're with will be given to them.I have a photographic memory when it comes to trespassers.I don't like you people.You make us engineers and conductors nervous every time you get too close.And forcwhat?
