So much of Jodie's character translated into how she played the Doctor. She was so amazing. So loveable.
I seem to recall Chibnall said something along the lines of how Jodie's personality in between takes on Broadchurch influenced his writing of Thirteen and her casting. He basically said he saw her zany fidgeting and warmth as a 'that's the Doctor' moment.
@@hotdog1214 it's says something about her acting skills. As I've seen her in other things where she wasn't "bubbly" at all. Very straight-laced or even stoic. I like an actor with range.
@@robtymec2045Indeed, again sorry for my fuzzy brain but as memory serves I think Jodie at some point talked about how different playing the Doctor was, not because of the sci-f but that she usually does rather serious stuff which requires often copious amounts of crying and solemnity. I don't recall seeing her in anything bubbly either come to mention it, apart from her interviews which have an infectious joy about them. 😁😁
My favourite quirk that she once revealed is that she made a conscious choice to reduce her height and move about in a random zig zag fashion when she was 'Doctoring'. Always makes me smile for some reason.
@@hotdog1214 Yes. I noticed how she did that, too! It was quite cute. She also made her Doctor slouch a lot. But then, during Once, Upon Time - she made a conscious effort to stand straighter when she was meant to be the Fugitive Doctor. She remembered how upright Jo Martin tended to stand and wanted to duplicate her body language.
@@robtymec2045Yes that was it, that was the interview she talked about how she made herself different to her usual performance to reflect how Jo Martin plays Fugitive Doctor. Thanks for giving my memory a well needed jog. 👍👍
She's absolutely fantastic as a person and as the Doctor! I'm going to miss her very much.
Feels INCREDIBLE how she is more "The Doctor" like here, being just herself, than scripted. They really nerfed her, she is awesome, has the vibe, and for some reason they put it out and said "no, do this"
One of the saddest days of my life was watching Jodie's regeneration scene from The Power of the Doctor, knowing we'd never see #13 again, unless there is a multi-Doctor episode/special of Doctor Who.
I held back watching the episode because it coincided on the anniversary of the day my Pops died. It basically was like losing someone close again, not to mention I'm terrible with regeneration episodes. PotD felt like a harder gut punch than normal.
One of the best days of my like knowing we will hopefully never see 13 again
Jodie is so adorable and genuine. It's sad how nasty the fans were about her.
Cause she was a bad doctor, we arent gonna sugarcoat it because shes 'adorable and genuine'
anyone else think 13 wouldve looked fire with this hairstyle?
edit: after reading some more comments with people saying the same, I want to reiterate that i am not trying to say that 13 looked bad the way she was, Her character design was great. I am not one of those people claiming it would've "saved" her to keep capaldi's hair.
It’s always a pleasure talking to someone as lovely as Jodie, makes my job a lot easier! Her new show is fantastic and her performance is next level 🙌
I always thought she was a fantastic actress and how she played the Doctor was Great. She really does seem so lovely. I look forward to the day she starts doing Big Finish! :) Also so Happy for all the Praise Australia gets in this interview!
Her performance is absolutely stunning. She deserves ALL the awards. And this interview gave me so much happiness ❤❤
@@KatieVanHelsing that’s so lovely, thank you! And I agree, she is fantastic in One Night!!
Her performance hit me on a personal level. This show is needed and honestly, I was sobbing on certain episodes because it was so raw and personal. Honestly, the (spoilers) scene, just watching her reaction to (spoiler) was Oscar worthy. @@simonharknesstv
And I thought "no bras in the tardis" would be like "no bras in space" in Star wars. Because jodie is just so iconic and her run was also very awesome.
Good god, I would love for her to do some Big Finish audios. Her time as The Doctor was awful, but she is such a delight in interviews like this. She's so much fun! Give this woman better writing, dammit!
Can you give praise without bashing her era? Jodie herself loved the material she was given and obviously loved her time
@@friendlyotaku9525she may have love the stories but they were not good… so arachnids in the uk, so chibnal says no to pity killing spiders but is fine to let them starve to death and suffocate… okay… there’s plenty of examples Chris does not know how to write the doctor, if it was someone else I think she would’ve been fine Chris just gave the worst direction..
@@gamingbady5305 The Doctor would NEVER shoot them with a gun so it is *in character* to want them to have a humane, natural death. Anyway I swear people who dislike this era always bring up the same specific scenes, It's like if I brought up less than stellar scenes in Peter Capaldi or Matt Smith or David Tennant scenes in order to try and say their eras weren't good. This is a genuine pet peeve of mine.
@@friendlyotaku9525 Why should we lie? Much of her era was bad, with a very few bright spots that showed it didn't have to be.
And it is easy to see the problem were the writer. For example, the mystery of the past iterations of The Doctor could have been put into lore and become a source for writers to play with for decades. Instead, we get this unsatisfying and broken Timeless Child explanation. Chibnall doesn't know how to write for a show like Doctor Who. He didn't know how to pace, he didn't know how to bring out the struggle of the character.
Dude if Jodie came out as the 13th Doctor looking like this we wouldn’t have been as mad. The world where she kept Capaldi’s hair. I hope big finish saves her character because she is a whole joy.
J'ai pensé la même chose, j'avais été un peu déçue qu'elle n'est pas une coupe de cheveux en pétard xD
Mais j'ai Bcp aimé son Docteur, c l'histoire qui était... Plus terre à terre !
Why didn't she have this haircut as the Doctor???
Whittaker is up there with Capaldi, Smith and Pertwee as such a fave love her so much 💙💙
She's such a lovely person and a really talented actress.
She's just a gem
Just noticed Jodie’s got Peter Capaldi hair in this interview
Jodie Whittaker playing the Doctor is my Doctor, she is AWESOME.
The writing for her playing the Doctor in DW was all over the place and let her down as an actress in my opinion. Chibnell really isn’t the best writer when it comes to sci-fi, but I continued watching DW during her run because her positivity shone through and I’m a sucker for lesbian romance as a lesbian myself. I really hope she’s able to come back as the Doctor at some point along with Ncuti under RTD’s writing and reclaim her Doctor status. I hope she’s doing alright because she doesn’t deserve the hate she’s getting and got, she did her best at acting with shit on the script. Love you Jodie 💗
Yeah I agree. I have seen Jodie in other things and she always does a good job. My problem was never with her but the script was always really really bad and I think she did a good job considering but, unfortunately, I just couldn't take her seriously bc of that. Plus the episodes in that era ranged from meh to really bad. There was only a few I could really enjoy. The first time round, I stopped watching entirely during the last half of season 11. I have watched the rest of it recently and it only got worse if I'm being honest. Although, I think the Power of the Doctor was good fun. I actually enjoyed that one.
@@nathanjordon6950 I completely agree with you. She’s a really good actor, it’s a shame RTD wasn’t writing for her run. The power of the doctor was one of the only actual story lines that resembled true Doctor who although I do have to say it still felt like pieces were left out which made it a little confusing to follow.
"No bras in the Tardis" Ignoring the sexist aspect of that, that makes no sense for the purpose they have in mind.
I think they forget that the doctor is a timelord and has definitely been a woman before it was mentioned even before Jodie’s era happened
One Night was truly amazing, great performance from Jodie
She's a great Doctor, and it's always fun to watch her version.
An an honorary 25 year old Aussie, I only just discovered the infamous Meredith Goats Cheese 😂
As many others have said before me, Jodie is a wonderful, amazing actress she deserved so much more under a different writer as Doctor Who especially being the first female incarnation. DW needed a stronger show runner than Chibbers. Chibs just cant write decent scifi period, but can write great strong drama such as BroadChurch. I cant imagine what 13 would've been like under moffat or RTD.
Jodie is absolutely lovely and wonderful. She doesn't deserve a better writer on DW, no, she deserves better treatment from the so-called fans. It's time to stop crying about Chibnall and time to celebrate Jodie. She is an incredible actress and her performance in One Night is outstanding. 👏👏
I always feel a little sad when she calls herself "narcissistic". I can only look at it from the outside, but she doesn't seem like that at all. 🥺
I like how the sweet guy doing the interview made a point to tell her multiple times that her performance is highly acclaimed online after finding out she hasn't read anything. He is really good at his job!
She is the best ✨
13th forever 🔷❤️❤️
Now that her era on DW is over, she is allowed (or allows herself) to swear, and that's really fun.
Also, I want this denim jacket
Regenerations can be cruel and can stay with you for a long time. (I know. I mourned Ten leaving the tardis for years!) However, as a bit of a Broadchurch superfan (understatement), I'm more than happy to see Jodie, back on our TV screens, away from the blue box. And, who knows (no pun intended), maybe one day she'll be asked back to appear in the DW70! :)
Jodie is amazing, and a delight. Love love love her. Happy for her new series
Plus the fun stories
SOOO SALTY THIS SHOW IS HARDLY AVAILABLE 😭😭😭😭 it’s genuinely so amazing
Jodie seems to be an absolute delight! Judging by all the interviews I've seen it would be so much fun to meet her. Also, that cheese she was describing sounded sooooooooo good!
I love Joddie, she always seems so sweet! I'm really hoping for some Big Finish audios of her as the Doctor 🥺💗
1:29 no what the reaction is priceless
Fan interview. What a delight Jodie is. Thank you.
Honestly I feel for Jodie with the whole Doctor Who thing…. Honestly I liked her as the Doctor, but I do think the writing for her was poor.. , rushed & noticeably worse than it was previous…. But again , I don’t really think it was all bad.. just , it needed more time… plus she was filming through the pandemic.. which definitely didn’t help in any way.
She would have been such an amazing Doctor. I hope she gets another chance.
what a lovely person i love you jodie ❤❤
I quite miss Jodie’s doctor
Can’t believe I never knew she was filming a show here, also can’t wait to meet her next year 😭
"No bras in the Tardis" just made me think of George Lucas and his insistence to Carrie Fisher that there were no bras in space…
They should have just let her have this haircut it's so fire
where can i watch one night in usa
Hearing Jodie talk about Thirroul, literally 5 minutes from where I live, IS FREAKING INSANE to me
Jodie seems like a funny and easy going actress meeting her at supanova this year cant wait
Love Jodies new hair :)
It would have been cool to see 13 with this haircut
Why is Jodie making me think of a Victoria Wood character in this interview ?! 😂
Hope she gets another chance with Big Finish. I feel like she didn't get a fair chance thanks to Chibnall and co.
I wish she had that hair as the Doctor lmao
🥰🥰🥰
meredith's goat cheese is the best. From Meredith dairy in Victoria, Australia...get it in ya 😂
Jodie is right- the goats cheese is DELISH
She did well regarding that Chris chibnall writ bad stories
You can't give us that haircut now Jodie, it would have been perfect for the Doctor!
I'm sorry but um new to the channel, the interviewer looks like "we have Andrew Scott at home"
0:30 gives me big Moriarty vibe
I will never understand why people got mad about them having a woman as "The Doctor" no one said shit about Missy....
meredith's goats cheese IS the fkn best!!
100% proof here that she has the personality to play the doctor but was quite clearly held back by the poor writting and poor running of the show by Chibnall, and very poor casting, topped off by that guy who does the quiz shows.........poor Jodie really never got a real shot at the role.
"The guy who does the quiz shows" Bradley Walsh IS a legitimate actor.
@@friendlyotaku9525 Really, he was guff in Dr Who then, he looked like he was about to burst out laughing after every line he said, he did not do a actors basic task, that is make me believe HE believes what he is saying......he was just awful, i am glad i have not seen him in anything else.
I think that the new Dr who is a mistake it should be another woman like jodie wittaker but black and lesbion.
i agree with the statement "no bras in the tardis" but........likely for a different reason
Personally I thought Jodie was a great Doctor, the stories were shite perhaps, but not her,I enjoyed her more than the other's.
As a kid, I always wondered why Dr Who had to return to Earth so many times... as a teen, I realised it was to get supplies: tampons would be hard to get when away from Earth...
She got the role too soon. I can see on her hair that she is slowly aging to be the female version of Capaldi
No bra.. not complaining lol
Good lord... I actually needed the closed-captioning just to understand what she was saying! 😭#PAINFUL
Looking to how the way she introduced herself in the video makes me think that it wasnt the writings fault that she was so bad in doctor who now... GIVE YASALF A GOLD STAAAAR FAM WFJUWHFOIWHIOF
3rd worst doctor
I love her doctor she was the worst doctor at the worst time. But if she was given another chance by Moffat or rtd id happily love her and watch her again
@@casparthomas4775 Honestly, under anyone but Chibnall would probably be good.
@@magusware8721having seen her in multiple other shows I 100% agree. Chibnall is just a bad writer when it comes to science fiction. He’s a decent regular drama writer.
Gosh, her acting ability is dire isn't it. She she can't even play herself being interviewed! Sheesh!
I like Jodie, I really do, but she was a diversity-hire. A female Doctor is just... wrong.
What do you think about Missy? She's my favourite Master (Delgado is my second favourite) 🙈
She is totally quirky and sexy....❤.
I just met her and she is really brilliant!❤❤ JODIE if you you see this, your brilliant!
