Had a great day working, I use the term loosely, with my buddy KT on his 74 Camaro, be sure and check out his channel @paintucation Its a veritable gold mine of how to tips for you guys and some great car builds
Chris, I'm guessing you forgot to bring the lavalier (clip on) mic with you to Kevin's. There's a huge difference in sound level and quality when you're behind the camera as opposed to in front of it. Not a huge deal, but I like to hear (and understand) everything you say. I'm learning a lot from your shared nuggets of wisdom and experience, and I don't want to miss anything.
Been watching Kevin longer than UA-cam! Love his channel too! I miss watching all the car shows on Saturday mornings. Since you guys are fairly close. Maybe we could have a semi-regular get together. Either do evry other show on the other's channel. Or both of you have cameras going and release it on both channels from different perspectives. Maybe have Kevin come to the Kiwi shop for some. You at his shop for others. I'm just spitballing here. But I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one who wants to see a more in-depth and regular collaboration with you two. Just a thought 😊. Keep up the good work fellas
Have you met Derek yet Kiwi? Would be fun to see you two get a hold of an old Aussie Ford for a revival and then you do a cool resto-mod?.. like the fast back Cougar?
Boy Kevin loves to drag you in helping on second gen Camaros! I remember that black one years ago when you and a whole group tag-teamed it! Good friends always answer the call 😅…thanks Chris 😊
I built a lot of these 74 through 77 out of wrecks when I was younger. I still have big pile of these Parts left in the barn. Thanks for bringing back those memories.
That must be the last of the flat back window cars. I prefer the look of the early cars BUT the later ones have nicer trim and drive nider as well. Though I am 6'1 with a dodgey back so I cannot drive them for very long. I have to sit up straight and then my head is in the hoodliner
Awesome video !! I’ve said so many times how much of a pleasure it is to watch you do what you do and the way you explain things and your talent and knowledge that was earned ! Being appreciated for your knowledge by friends and others, but it feels like playing around helping a friend. How can it get better than that ?!?! Take care !
At least when you swap the 74 to the earlier front it already has the matching small rear window. My 71 was originally a parts car for a 72 that turned out to be beyond hope once I dug into it. Funny how that works 😂. The 71 was a $800 and pulled out of a field but it was mostly solid.
I knew it was a 74 when I saw the rear window reveal. In 75 the window came down into the sail panels. I bought a 74 new, always despised the ugly aluminum bumpers on it. Lol Bless your heart for helping him out! 👍Kevin, no cheese on Chris's sandwich! 😂
Mr. B. Here ! 🍩☕️👀😎👍. Well when he started I thought he was nuts ; but after fallowing he was right not so bad , don’t miss understand it is a lot of work ! Nice job guys ! 🍩☕️👀😎👍🇺🇸
Hey Kiwi! How about sharing some of your experience on mounting engines? Specifically I have a 69 Camaro I’m dropping in a BB. I’m using the stock style frame mount but Prothane polyurethane motor mounts. They don’t even fit the frame mount. They are the tall narrow mount but they suck. I tried installing the engine but couldn’t get alignment to get bolts in. I lifted it back up and removed the motor mounts and tried to bolt them to frame mount and couldn’t even get them that way! That’s bad😢. Now I’m grinding on them and opening holes some to get them to mount before I reinstall them.
I would want a '70-'73 to start with, if I was doing a Split Bumper conversion. It really doesn't matter, but it would drive my ADD @$$ bonkers, knowing that the car's appearance doesn't match the VIN...🤣 I like the later second gens too, but prefer the '70-'73 - and with Firebirds as well. GM nailed it with the early second gens!
So, he's converting it to the earlier 1970-1973 look , with the round taillights etc ? . Iv'e heard that people are doing that now. It's good that the '74 model still had the nice looking back window ( less work), personally I hate the later wrap around type on the Firebirds and Camaros.
How do I get on the list of people that can call ya up for help/advice? Looks like its gonna be great when its done. I have found several little issues while stripping everything to bare metal. Nothing major, so far, has only been cosmetic.
How much did you push the right hand a pillar out to get the bottom of the left hand a pillar right it should have been put on a rack and pulled out just asking kiwi😂😂😂
Do you have a video on how to flush mount a windshield or back glass on the 60s mustang if not do you know someone that does. I have a 68 id loke to do that with
I did it on my 66 but that was 12 years ago, way before I was making videos. It's a lot of work but look awesome. There is a company making oversize front and rear glass specifically to be flush mounted. That saves you a lot of time but they're about $1200 each plus shipping.....

It varies. A lot of the Mustang ll kit come with premade urethane mounts so your tied in to using them. Urethane mounts can be quite harsh as there is little give in them. If you're not making huge HP I'd be tempted to use rubber mounts. Hope this helps 😎👍
@@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 I’m tempted but Its a 498 dyno’d at 627hp and 600 lbft. I don’t know if that’s huge but it’s a lot to me. Would rubber control it?
I could never figure out why people gravitate towards the split bumper cars. The turn signal placement and those little bumpers don’t flow well with the rest of the car. The signals underneath the solid bumper complete the cars.

I've been flowing this build. Kind wish he'd kept it stock with the ugly chrome bumpers one year only hahahaha.
But its a fun build.
I had a 1973 split bumper......nice look 😊
Huge thank you to Kiwi!!! It was a fun day, and we made good headway!! Cheers!
"There was more good about this car than the other''. What were you dealing with on the other one!!!? The Stern of the Titanic?.. LOL
I had no clue you have a channel on UA-cam. My Saturday mornings can go back to the good ole days.
Awesome repair.
😎👍

I'd managed to break my mic the day before but I have a new one now😬
Two of my favorite guys in one video.

Nice of you to go and help Kevin out Kiwi. Can't wait to see what the conversion will look like once he does the Split bumper on it..
Have you met Derek yet Kiwi? Would be fun to see you two get a hold of an old Aussie Ford for a revival and then you do a cool resto-mod?.. like the fast back Cougar?
God I miss friendships like this. You guys add a lot of joy; thanks.

She’s a little toasty 😂😂 I know that you guys will do it right 😎
Greetings! Kevin sent me. 😎👍
Should take a whack at the front rear spring perches to see if they are still sound as well...
Imagine having someone of Kiwi's talents drop in your project!
Nothing wrong with a 74 Camaro ... it's going to be a great project.
Cheers mate!
I was wondering where Kevin went to. I liked him as a host.
I built a lot of these 74 through 77 out of wrecks when I was younger. I still have big pile of these Parts left in the barn. Thanks for bringing back those memories.
Hey Kevin , great show !! Good seeing Kiwi , all ya need is UTG on the show ! Take it easy ! 👍
the nice thing about these cars, they can be built entirely from a catalog.

Thanks for sharing. Interesting collabs, hope to see more in the future.
Love to hear and see the work you guys do

Dr Kiwi to the rescue..
What's it like working on a proper car be your envyous😂😂😂😂

My favorite year for a 2nd gen Camaro !
Ralley sport Camaro , nice 👌
That rocker is coming out MINT !!
Are roof skins available ??
Yes, @autometaldirect has them.
You can pretty much build a classic Camaro or Mustang from a catalog. They sold millions of ‘em & pretty much everything is available new.
Kiwi, Kevin is paintucation, you are bodyucation!
I appreciate that you have gone to Chris who knows rust-tangs like no other....
Compare the measurements from center to the undamaged pillar. And length from hinge to latch pin.
Rock on!
looks like a lot of work.
Awesome. It’s cool seeing you guys collaborate
Thanks for another great video.
Now we need a 3rd gen video =P
A master class Kiwi. You’ve earned that bourbon. Cheers!
Should be a great car when finished, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
This collaboration brought me to your channel. Thanks for sharing this perspective and all the great content you've put out. ~ Chuck
What breaking out in a rash.... You can shower.... 😂 Shit I'm not a Ford man and still watch your channel 😂
Great job guys. Saving another rusty, bent classic car. Surprising how nice the inner structure was on that roof. Cheers! 😎👍🏎🏁🏁
Wow I remember that guy from powernation tv.

Beautiful!
Bet he won't post a video you ask him not to. Seems like a solid dude.
Kevin is a top bloke, what you see on camera is what you get in real life! I'm fortunate to be able to call him a friend !!
Looks like it was a vinyl top car Kiwi can do it good luck guys.
I would go with bourbon also.
Do you ever wish you had a big grid lined fixture plate you could use to measure cars from to determine if things are where they belong or not?
Great vid....you two should start a new channel named Kiwi-Kev
Would the HQ Monaro Coupe be Australias equivalent Kiwi?
Least they make the panels these days for the popular models.😎ponch had a gold one in chips?
Poor Kiwi, a Camaro!😲
🤘🏼🍻⛽️

That’s my question, too.
Barra power the Camaro??? 😉
Kiwi, what TV were you a part of?

Kiwi, don't confuse me. I'm a self confusing model requiring no external input to attain maximum confusion levels. 😅

This channel gets better with every video, not seeing uncle Tony anymore is also a delight.

love your channel but please invest in a better microphone set up
I normally use a mic but I'd managed to break it and the replacement gets here tomorrow! It does suck without it 😬
Chris. Needs a better.mic 👍
Ummm that's alot of junk lol
