Thanks for the great walkthrough of policy and compliance management in ServiceNow GRC! I noticed that some arrow directions around Indicator Monitoring could maybe be adjusted for better flow. For example, if the Issue Generation arrow pointed to Control Monitoring, flagged controls could get closer attention. Then, an arrow from Control Monitoring to Indicator Monitoring could keep key metrics updated. Finally, directing Issue Remediation to Indicator Monitoring would allow continuous tracking after issues are fixed. Just an idea-would love to hear your thoughts on the arrow directions!
Nice and easy. One disagreement: At 7min we discuss a Brushing Teeth policy. What John's describing is a plan/procedure. A Brushing Teeth policy would be something more high-level e.g. "This household brushes teeth in strict accordance with ADA guidelines." The plan/procedure would be: Twice a day, up-down not left-right, etc...
Essentially, Risk Statements and Control Objectives should drive the creation of Indicator Templates, not the reverse. The templates are designed to measure and track the priorities established by the risk and control elements. Are the arrows pointing in the correct direction?

Very informative. I'm working towards a career in cyber security. Is therea basic level GRC professional certification out there that doesn't require multiple years of experience?

I work in GRC, you dont need a cert. Coursera has a great course on it. Qualys has excellent free training as well. Im pentest + certified but they ain't ask about it once.
